It’s My Blogoversary! Of Course There’s a Giveaway!

Posted August 15, 2020 by Lisa Mandina in giveaway / 69 Comments

Okay, I might be a bit embarrassed to say, but if it wasn’t for Nicole over at Feed Your Fiction’s weekly wrap-up post earlier this week, I might have forgotten about this! I mean at some point I might have realized it, but who knows when. We all know that 2020 has been a crazy year since life as we knew it kind of came to a screeching halt back in March. I was late to post about my blogoversary last year as well, but I blamed the busyness of back to school time and the fun Book Bonanza convention in Texas as well. I’ve got none of that to blame this year. School for students has been postponed till after Labor Day, and teachers were supposed to go back this past week, but now it is not until next Monday, the 17th, that we will go back in, masked and socially distanced, to find out how this first nine weeks of distance learning will be handled, differently than back in the spring at the end of the school year.

Honestly, there’s not a ton of stuff to share this year, because of all that. The biggest excitement for the blog was the fact that back at the beginning of the year I switched from doing all of my blogging on the free Blogger site to moving to WordPress and being hosted/taken care of by Ashely over at Nose Graze. And you might have noticed I did re-do my header this summer as well. I like it a lot. Although I still feel like something is missing right in the middle.

Personally I guess I did get to attend the American Association of School Librarians convention and present in Louisville, Kentucky. I did get to meet Alan Gratz, and he asked me about my NaNoWriMo shirt!

I also self-published my very first novella!

If you like sexy second chance romance, set in New Orleans, you can get it for free in Kindle Unlimited, or it is 99¢ for Kindle, $5.99 for a paperback. Check it out HERE. I would definitely love some more reviews, good or bad!

I really do need to get back to my writing though. You’d think being stuck at home during this pandemic I’d have lots of time. But I never really wrote at home. I always went to the library or Panera or some place where my sweet little dogs that want all my attention weren’t there to be taking up my attention.

Speaking of the dogs, I am so glad I did buy a different house and move last summer. We have a fenced yard here, and so being able to sit outside when stuck at home and let them play without having to just walk around on a leash, that has kept me sane I think. Here are some of the days we’ve enjoyed.

Taken when it was still cooler weather!
Sniffing the tree!
Sometimes they sat themselves in the corner instead of on my lap.

For the giveaway I’m going to have four prizes. One will be either an Amazon or Barnes & Noble giftcard. The second is a paperback copy of my novella Pillow Talk (this one is open to US only). Third is a book from my ARC giveaway pile in the picture below. Choices could change based on other giveaways or things I might add as I finish them before this giveaway ends at the end of the month.

The fourth will be your choice of any of my 5 star reads listed below that I can send you from The Book Depository if you’re international or Amazon if you are in the US, they are either all around $10 or ones that I have to give someone the chance to win. Hint: There will be an option in the Rafflecopter to comment on the reviews below for an entry, one a day!

Just fill out the Rafflecopter below. Thanks for helping me belatedly celebrate my 11th blogoversary! This giveaway will run until September 15th, because we must celebrate for a month’s worth of time, right?

Congratulations! Here’s to many more years of sharing all things bookish! Best of luck to you starting the school year. I wish you safety and sanity and hope everyone is respectful of mask wearing and social distancing.

  2. Oh my goodness congrats on your blogoversary! I totally spaced on mine again this year. I think after year 4 I just stopped keeping track. I probably need to go and just make a reminder post every year. I hope your giveaway goes well. Congrats on publishing your first book. So awesome! Will definitely be grabbing it when by book ban is lifted soon.

I was just thinking that I need to go ahead and put it on next year’s calendar since I went ahead and bought the 2021 pages for my planner. LOL!! Thanks for visiting!

Thanks! Yeah, if it wasn’t for the fenced yard I would probably have been insane with the quarantine and staying home all the time.

  4. Nicole’s a godsend, isn’t she?!

Happy Blogoversary though!!! Love all the photos of your pups, and you had a couple fun bookish things happen this year so that’s awesome.

I know! So grateful for her! Thanks! There were a few bookish things, not so many as I’d like, but we keep going, right?! Thanks for stopping by!

I know! If it wasn’t for someone else pointing it out, I probably would have forgot. But I went ahead and put it on 2021 calendar so I won’t forget. AASL was really good. I just hope we get to have it again some day in person! Thanks for stopping by to help me celebrate!

  5. Happy Blogiversary Lisa! 11 years is amazing!
I only write reviews, but I’ve also been struggling with where to write. My hobby space has been turned into my work-from-home space, so it’s no longer cheerful and stress free

True. Changing our usual spaces into work space for “real” work really messes stuff up. I taught online a few years about, well I guess it’s been about 10 years now. I thought I’d like it best, but really it just turned into my home time being possible for jumping on and checking student work, etc. I am not a fan of it! Thanks for stopping by to celebrate with me!
