So I don’t think I’ve done this in a year or two, and I’m a bit late this year, but I saw a couple of blogs I follow doing it, so I decided to jump in and do it again, even if I’m a bit late too.
# of books read so far:

I’ve dropped my number down from 200 this year since I’ve barely made it or even been close over the last two years. So far I’m on track as of when I checked in for this post last week when I got t his all typed up.
BEST BOOK I’VE READ SO FAR IN 2024

I can never pick just one! But I’m picking the first in the WTZ and really the whole series, because it was so good! Second was a book I just finished at the end of last month and loved, and third is a recent YA I also loved!
Best Sequels I’ve Read So Far This Year

So I love Samantha Young, but her latest series have been more suspense as opposed to just contemporary romance or rom-com, but this one I loved! And of course I’ve loved all of Meghan Quinn’s hockey series. And finally the last book in the WTZ series was so good!
New Releases I Haven’t Read Yet But Really Want To

And I actually own all three of these, just need to get them read!
Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year

The first two have been delayed a bit, but I’ll wait! The last one is the next in a series by an author I adore!
Biggest Disappointments

All three of these are ones I was so excited for, had the e-galleys, but then they stories just didn’t work for me. The first and last were because I didn’t like things about the story. The second one just wasn’t my type of read, nothing wrong with it though.
Biggest Surprises:

The first one I almost didn’t read and review, and I am so glad I did because I loved it! The second one was a retelling of the first Winston Brothers book by Penny Reid and it was so much fun! The third one was a surprise as it was the first rom-com from that author!
Favorite new or new to me author:

First is Whitney Dineen, an author I’ve been wanting to read for a while and finally did! Second is Diana Rowland, author of the White Trash Zombie series that I listened to this year and loved! And third is Cheryl Terra who I am loving her books and how the heroine doesn’t have to be pure and saving herself only for the hero.
Newest Fictional Characters – Specifically Book Boyfriends

So not sure what this says, but all three of my top book boyfriends this year so far have been written by Meghan Quinn, lol. I loved Levi Posey and his bologna sandwiches and awkwardness. He comes in a close second to my all time favorite Quinn book boyfriend: Jason Orson. And then there was Wyatt in The Reason I Married Him. I want someone as romantic and sarcastic and banterish as him! And finally there was the smart Andrew in Co-Wrecker an older one by Quinn.
Books that Made Me Cry

The first one got me with the eating disorder storyline. The second one got me with the feelings she had with her sisters and even her friend. And the last one with Neil’s depression really had me in tears as well.
Books that Made Me Happy

Tara Sivec books always have me dying laughing. The other two books just made me smile as I read them and loved them!
Favorite book to movie adaptation I saw this year

I did love the latest season of Bridgerton and I am loving the My Lady Jane series.
The Most Beautiful Book I Bought/Received This Year

So let’s just say I might have gotten to excited about special editions this year. And I think technically one of the books in the first picture might have come at the end of last year? But anyway, I love all the 10 year anniversary bodice ripper covers from Meghan Quinn. Then I loved the special edition of Bride. I got several special editions of Jennifer L. Armentrout books, mostly just the first book in the series, except for Brave, which was my favorite of the choices that all came out at the same time. And finally the most recent I just got was the Blindsided by Amy Daws.
Favorite Post I’ve Done This Year
I’m going to choose my post about special edition books as I feel I’m getting so much more into those this year.
A Book/Books I Need/Want to Read by the End of the Year

These are books I’ve gotten either at the beginning of this year, or as they came out, and now I need to read them! Not sure if I’ll get to them, as I don’t think two of them are on my Beat the Backlist challenge list because they are newer. But we’ll see if I can get to them along with all the review books I have planned!
Final Thoughts
So this took a long time again! Maybe next year I’ll go ahead and get it planned earlier and start working on it earlier instead of waiting till I see other people post. Did you do this tag? Leave me a link to your post in the comments if you did and I haven’t visited yet!
I did not do this tag, or many others as we mainly do reviews. I love the White Trash Zombie and Penny Reid, Christina Lauren, Lynn Painter and Kelley Armstrong books.
I rarely do tags, but occasionally there are some that are fun and I like to do.
I’ve read a lot of the same books and loved most of them. Awesome list.
Thanks! Glad we both liked these books.
Love this tag! It’s the only one I do every year and I love drafting my own post as well as seeing others’. Meghan Quinn writes some great heroes, doesn’t she? I read the first 3 in the Vancouver Agitators series but haven’t read Posey’s book yet. I received my special edition copy of Obsidian on Monday and I agree that it’s beautiful!
Quinn does such a great job with her heroes! I have done this tag a lot, although I missed last year. I think because I was getting ready for Scotland at this time, or actually in Scotland and so wasn’t thinking about it.
Ooh nice! Quite a few new to me one here. But glad you found so many favorites! I might have to see if I can order that version of White Hot Kiss from Jennifer’s store the next time I place an order! Lol. A lot of other new to me ones here. I was surprised Kelley wrote a contemporary romance! That’s a whole new genre for her but sadly it’s just one I know I won’t enjoy. If only the hero could secretly be a werewolf then I’d totally read it! Lol.
Yeah, I just ordered the White Hot Kiss on B&N with a gift card I had. I was surprised about the Armstrong book too, but it was very good! And I love a good contemporary romance. lol
It’s definitely not too late to do this tag! I’m glad A Novel Love Story was a hit for you, I loved it too. And I need to start watching Lady Jane😁
I still need to check out your review for A Novel Love Story. Getting ready to go check out some reviews now! I hope you enjoy My Lady Jane too!
Oh, this is a fun post. I love the different categories. This takes some thought. I would definitely put WTZ up there for series – I like that we did the whole thing in the first half of the year. It’s probably dangerous of me to say this, but my biggest disappointment is Iron Flame. It wasn’t the worst book I’ve read this year, but I had such expectations and it didn’t match them.
I still need to read Fourth Wing, so we’ll see if I even get through that at any point.
I did the midyear freakout tag a couple of years ago. Since this year has mostly been rereads, I decided to skip it.
I still need to start watching MY LADY JANE. I’m really excited to watch it. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Good luck with the rest of your year. I hope you get a lot of reading done and I enjoy most, if not all, of the books
I’ll be interested to see what other people think of My Lady Jane if they’ve already read the book.
Great recap for the year thanks for sharing
Thanks for stopping by!
