Synopsis:

Ry Archer and Bowe Keller are as different as night and day. But that doesn’t stop the childhood frenemies from reconnecting whenever one of them needs some help tackling any of life’s major puzzles, like figuring out why getting what you always thought you wanted isn’t living up to all the hype. They might constantly rub each other the wrong way (except for the times when they rub each other the really-really right way), but there is no denying they’ve always made one hell of a great team. They manage to balance each other out… when they aren’t driving each other crazy.

For Ry, he thought he had the perfect girl, the one who was going to run headfirst into a methodically planned future. He was going to marry young and have the same kind of legendary, life-long romance his parents did… or so he believed. His girl was going to stand by his side as he chased his dream of being a professional football player all the way to the NFL.

He was wrong.

Now, Ry’s gotta figure out the difference between a bruised heart and a broken one, and the only person who can teach him the difference is Bowe.

Bowe always felt like she had to run before she learned to walk to keep up with her father’s musical legacy. He’s her hero, and she wants nothing more than to make him proud. Bowe’s about to figure out that maybe she wasn’t meant to be in a rock and roll band and that it is possible she let her father’s success cloud her idea of what making music should be. Bowe needs to find her own path to fame, and there’s a good chance she wouldn’t be brave enough or bold enough to start over if Ry Archer hadn’t charmed his way back into her life when she least expected it.

Some days they’re enemies. Other days they’re lovers. For a while, they were strangers. But now, it feels more like they might have always been soulmates.

Eventually, Ry and Bowe realize that letting go of an old dream and creating a new one is much easier to do with the right person by your side.

My Review:

I don’t think I can express just how excited I was when I first heard that Jay Crownover was going to go back and visit this second generation of our favorite characters from her Marked Men and Saints of Denver series. And starting with my first Marked Men love, Rule’s son, that was perfect as well. I can start off by saying that I was not disappointed in any way, shape, or form with this book. I loved it to pieces! It had all the same feelings and emotions that I got with the original series. And the steam level was exactly what I’ve always loved and expected from this author as well.

Before the story even began though, it made me sad that the author felt she had to justify anything about how she wrote this story, how she handled her world of characters. Other than one series (Divergent) I have never felt an author did something I didn’t like with the characters, because it is their story! I am reading that author’s story. Even with the ending of the Divergent series, while I didn’t like it, I totally understood the ending, and it made sense. But enough about the haters and naysayers, because this book was the bomb!

Ry, had to adore him. I mean he was the perfect jock that his Uncle Remy probably was in so many ways. But he was also a good guy. A nice guy. The animosity between him and Bowe was so obviously sexual tension, it was pretty easy to tell, for everyone except for maybe the two closest to the whole situation, Ry and Bowe. The honesty between them was perfect though, it made the whole relationship so much more believable. I also like the way the other characters behaved about all the different things that happened. Until the very end. I can’t say who it was, but the things she said about Bowe and the way she behaved made me so mad! Even if, once again, it was understandable under the circumstances and will hopefully lead us to a future book about her and whoever her true love will be.

I don’t know if I can say enough how much I loved being back in this world. The glimpses of our original characters from the original two series were just perfectly place and the perfect amount. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and letting all my hopes get up that we will get more books in this series. I loved the little family tree diagram the author gave us at the beginning. Saved it to my computer so I can look at it when I need to as well. Here, I’ll share it with you since she even put it on her Facebook page.

I’m hoping we get the next story she hinted at in the end of this book, Prodigal Son with Hyde and Remy. Fingers crossed!

It was so good! Different of course from her other series, I mean this is technically new adult, but still so good!
