Synopsis:

Going from a professional baseball player to a SWAT officer should’ve been seamless. Should have been.

But it wasn’t.

All it took was one single calendar shoot for word to spread that Nathan Cox was not only no longer playing professional baseball, but he was also the man behind saving the life of Reggie Morton, the City of Kilgore’s princess.

Reggie didn’t know that by agreeing to provide the expertise and the know-how for the Police Officer’s Ball that she would be required to actually attend the function.

What she also didn’t expect was needing to be saved—again—by the same man that had saved her life a year ago when she hosted her debut event.

This time in a not-nearly-as-spectacular way. The moment she falls into his arms like a modern-day Cinderella and takes him in in all his three-piece suited glory, she realizes that she’s been fighting the impossible.

Nathan Cox owns her. Body and soul.

My Review:

Seeing as how my birthday is in October, and I love Halloween and fall weather, it makes sense that the “Mr. October” from the SWAT calendar would definitely win me over. I feel like this not only had everything that I love about Lani Lynn Vale’s story telling, but it also had some original plot lines that surprised me and kept it such a fresh story!

This was a enemies to lovers story essentially, but as often is the truth, neither really hated the other. The sparring and fronts they put up were all about concealing the actual feelings they had for each other. I loved Reggie, I mean it was impossible not to. And then there was Nathan. How much more perfect can a guy be than one who was a professional baseball player and now a member of a SWAT team? I mean, yowza! Now really the only Halloween stuff in the book was kind of Nathan’s ex’s name, Eerie. Who was the horrible parent who named their child that and didn’t expect those things to happen?

Now, one issue with the cover, although, yeah, it’s hard to find fault with that. Nathan only had one tattoo, so the tatted up guy on this cover is a little misleading. Although we do find out about possible piercings later in the book. I won’t say anymore than that. But once again this author has come through with the steamy, emotional, witty story that I love to read. She also gets our characters together before the very end, leaving that final dramatic point of the story having to do with an outside event that the two must overcome together. And I love the way she does that!
