As I mentioned in my discussion post earlier this week, about how you write your reviews, I am behind on my discussion posts. So I got this second one done during my Mini-Blog Ahead that I participated in at the end of June. I’m actually on my way to Orlando for my family vacation, probably while you’re reading this. So, I will definitely reply to all comments, but maybe not until I get back home on Tuesday.
A reminder that the 2017 Discussion Challenge is hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight.
The title of this discussion posts comes from a Depeche Mode song, Just Can’t Get Enough. If you’re not familiar with it, enjoy the video:
I’m guessing that a lot of you are pretty much similar to me, self-proclaimed book addicts. I have a TBR list on Goodreads that has almost 3,000 titles on it. I have another TBR shelf on goodreads that is made up of the books I physically own or have free e-book copies of that is almost 1000 titles long. Yet, whenever I hear about new books coming out by my favorite authors, or even debut authors that sound just like books I already love, I seem to HAVE to have them. I have a physical book shelf at home, a five shelf tall bookshelf, packed full of books. I now have three shelves on a smaller bookshelf in my bedroom packed full of books as well. I will never get through all of these books. And yet, I want more. I can’t seem to get enough!
I still enter giveaways. I usually stick to the gift card ones, but from time to time enter for a book that I want to read or have on my TBR, though I've more stayed away from the books and went with GC. I love giveaways!! ^_^
Great post. Thank's for sharing and have fun in Orlando.
I usually do more of the giveaways that are specific books I want for myself or for my school library. A lot of time it might be for a book I read as an egalley or audiobook but that I'd like to own a physical copy of. Glad to know I'm not the only one! Thanks for stopping by, and I had a blast in Orlando!
First of all, I love that you had a DM song in this post (one of my all-time fave bands), and I laughed really hard when I saw this post. Before I was asked to join WLABB, I spent a lot of time entering giveaways. I won a lot too. Tons of books, ebooks, a Kindle fire, over $1000 in amazon gift cards, t-shirts, etc. I don't have the time to enter too many any longer, but I really miss getting all the prizes. It was fun to come home to a package in the mail every once in a while.
I do win quite a few, usually actual books, rarely gift cards or swag. I don't have the time to enter like I did a year or two ago, but I still like to! Thanks for visiting, and glad I'm not the only one who enjoys those packages!
I always enjoy reading your discussion posts and this one hit home–I love the feeling of getting a new book and if I win it, I share your enthusiastic response. Bookmail is the best! I have my bookshelves full of books and keep the ones that I loved. I've entered giveaways and won great books that my daughters, husband, mother-in-law and mom have enjoyed immensely. I love to see bloggers I know on the winner's list too. It's like my friends won! We have several little free libraries in our surrounding community that I've donated books I've read and want to pass on for others. Many giveaway chances come my way that I know I'll never read–these include horror, erotic, and adult thrillers to name a few, so I pass on these. I also pick and choose giveaways based on the number of entries and have given myself a cutoff point for entering or not. Afterall, I still need time to read all the books! It's too difficult for me to not want a YA book that everyone is raving about though. I hate missing out! Did I ramble too much? Thanks for reading, Lisa!
I'm the same with picking and choosing which to enter. If it isn't a book I'd want, but I know my students would like it, then I do go ahead and enter. And the books that everyone is raving about, well, it's so hard not to try for it! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
I still enter contests. I do really look for them but if I am on a blog and they have a contest for a book that I want to read, I will enter. I do win from time to time and it is a great feeling. When I have giveaways on my blog, I want to see lots of people entering. Great discussion.
Yeah, I rarely go looking for them anymore, but if I see one that is a book I'd like, I still enter. Like you I hope to have people enter on my blog! Thanks for visiting!
I would love to be successful at giveaways and – if I was – I don't think I would stop.
I have won several, and still occasionally do, so it makes it hard to stop! Thanks for stopping by and good luck to you in winning some giveaways!
I don't enter nearly as many giveaways as I used to, and I do feel guilty sometimes entering any, considering the number of books I have. But I don't think I'll ever quit completely.

Yeah, same here about entering less because of time and feeling guilty. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'm glad I'm not the only one who just can't quit!
I actually haven't entered a single giveaway. I live in India and I've had a hard time finding a book that I want to read in a giveaway that caters to me.
On the other hand, while I don't have nearly as many books on my TBR as you do, I understand that it can be overwhelming when you have so many choices and you see a few more.
I often buy books (that I've never heard of but soudn interesting) just because I don't want to miss out on the opportunity.
Ah, that's too bad. Does the Book Depository deliver to India? I try to make a lot of my giveaways using them so that they can be more international. Just wait, the more you blog, the more books you'll get added to your TBR! 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Well, I keep entering giveaways because I rarely win any, haha. In your case, I'd say it's totally up to you. There's no fine print attached to them saying, "You must only enter this if you have 0 unread books on your shelves and no means by which to obtain more." I enter giveaways for books I'm interested in reading (though I don't always read them ASAP), but I just buy some books I already know I want to own (and own NOW). No guilt either way. 🙂
I try to only enter for things I really want now that I have started winning. I don't know that I win a ton, but I have won a few, so it makes me feel like there is always a chance. 🙂 Thanks for joining into my discussion!
