Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer) and with Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Reading Reality).
I decided to post on Saturday this week and do my Monthly wrap-up tomorrow. Let’s get it all done before November when I hope to do NaNoWriMo and need to be writing instead of too much time on blogging. I did announce my project, so if you’re doing NaNoWriMo and want a writing buddy, you can find me under the name of Buffywnabe.
My final birthday celebration was Sunday night after I’d shared my post, so I wanted to show the homemade cards from my niece and nephew.
At school my assistant was back finally. But it was also parent conference week. So Monday I had to be at school at my normal time, which is a little before 7 am. And conferences were over at 6:40 pm. Ugh. It was a long day. Especially having to be back at school around 7 am the next morning. Then Thursday was parent conferences from 8 am to 8 pm. It was a long day. I actually had one of the virtual student’s parents show up because they had a couple classes that were not working. So that was right first thing in the morning. The rest of the day I spent emailing all my other virtual students as I do every week, and doing other library stuff. Our principal got us a nice lunch of chicken tenders and mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a roll from the HyVee grocery store catering.
I had all day Friday off. But did not wake up with the motivation to do any writing to get ready for NaNoWriMo. Hopefully I will get some more motivation before Monday! Since I’m posting this on Saturday, we’ll see how the weekend goes as well. My retirement money that I was waiting on showed up on Friday, so I did go buy a new washing machine and a vacuum. While they can deliver the washer I picked in a couple weeks, the vacuum is out of stock till December! Oh well.
Books finished:
I also finished a short story that is in the new anthology, Two More Days. As part of Ilsa Madden-Mills ARC team I got to read her story early, Sincerely, Dane. And I adored it! I also ordered a physical copy of the book as soon as it was available.
New Books:
Physical Books:
I won a copy of the biography of V.C. Andrews on Goodreads, and had to post a picture of it displayed with all of her books that I’ve read!
So, I’m helping out an author along with some of the other people on her reader team by going through some of her books and helping write down all the characters, settings, etc., to help her just have all that in one place. It’s easier for me to go through a physical book, so I bought this one in this series so I could do that. Unfortunately the last book in this series is not physically available anywhere. So I will have to use my e-galley copy of that I guess.
E-galleys:
So excited for a new book in the Harris Brothers series by Amy Daws, someone we kind of met in the last one. Second was a novella by Meghan Quinn that comes out next week but I’ve already read and posted a review! And the third one, I tend to get all of Julia Kent’s books, even though I don’t always have time to read them. But this one should be a good read for Thanksgiving, right? And I’m excited for the next round of the Reindeer Falls series from Jana Aston. I loved the three last year! I also had an author reach out to me about the last book, and it does sound good, so I told her I would get to it at the end of December if that worked, and it is now on my calendar. And the last one is by Kylie Scott, I’ll be reading for a blog tour in November!
Free e-books:
I’m pretty sure all of these were for signing up for newsletters.
Purchased e-books:
I very rarely buy e-books, if I’m spending money on a book, I will buy the physical copy or the audiobook, even though that is often a waste of money because I don’t really listen to very many of them more than once. Although I have a few that I love to relisten to. But this one had the money going to charity so it was worth it, especially with some of the authors in it!
What I’m Watching:
So I have been looking forward to this latest Passionflix movie since the author first let it slip they were making it. And I was not disappointed in any way! Now, I’ve only watched like three other shows from this network, Confess by Colleen Hoover, the two seasons of the Driven books by K. Bromberg, and then Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I think one Christmas novella I’d read last year too, Sexy Scrooge? And while they were good and bad in ways, Seduction and Snacks was PERFECTION! It was funny, the acting was perfect, the way they brought a Tara Sivec book and characters to life was PERFECT! I honestly loved this one so much! I watched it Thursday night when I got home from my 12 hour day of parent conferences and didn’t once pick up my phone during the movie or feel tired and want to shut it off. All I can think about is watching it again and owning my own copy!
Giveaways to check out:
- The Looooong and the Short of It with a Giveaway: September 2021 Wrap-Up Post and What to Expect in October – this one ends tomorrow, Halloween, and then there should be a new one also starting tomorrow when I post my end of the month wrap-up!
- Book Blitz with Giveaway – Baby, It’s Hot Outside: A Christmas Down Under – this one ends on Monday I think!
Whoo hoo! Yeah for adorable cards and new appliances. Why are appliances such a thrill for me? That’s cool that you are doing work for Quinn. (I loved that book BTW). Conference days were always so punishing. At least you had Friday to recover, right?
I know! I might do some other new stuff, but the washer is the one that I can afford for sure. When I moved to my new house I had to get a washer, and my mom and stepdad found me a used one. So now I can have a brand new one! I don’t know that I’m technically “working” for Quinn, but she requested and her ARC team stepped up. lol. I do love that whole series! But I’m a little surprised I can’t get a copy of the last book anywhere! Not even from her own store. And Friday was nice to recover from the crazy 12 hour day.
Happy birthday! Hope it was an awesome one. And good luck with your project! Hard to believe it’s November already…
It took us a month or so to get our fridge when our old one died.
Shopping for a Turkey puts me in mind of Thanksgiving. 🙂
Thanks! Although I’m getting more and more to where I’m thinking I don’t want to mess with writing, and I just want to do a lot of reading and other stuff in November. Who knows. Yeah, I told them I didn’t care if the washer was the white color that was on the floor, they had another darker color, and I said if you have that one and it is the same price, I will go ahead and get it now! It’s crazy how long it is taking to get things. Yeah, that book makes me ready for Thanksgiving.
Aww the cards from your niece and nephew are adorable! Good luck with nanowrimo!
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m glad you were able to get the washer soon as it is weird trying to get things. I feel glad most of my stuff is new because if one fails it would be hell. This week sounds like a win to me. At least the assistant is back and you had 4 days instead of 5. I hope this week is even better!
So far this week is going about as always! Thanks for visiting!
Happy Birthday Lisa! Your birthday cards are so lovely. My Friday has been a day like your Monday and Wednesday! Started really early at school and finished way too late.
Good luck with your writing project that’s starting this week! We will miss you on the blog, but know you will pop in as much as you can.
Ugh, long days are so tiring! Hope you have a good week!
