Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).
Things are slowing down a teeny-tiny bit this week. Although on Friday my library assistant was gone for the day and things seemed to all pile on that day. Thursday we had no students and had a professional development day. I got to just work in my library that afternoon, and I got my banned books display put up. I can’t get a very good shot of it, but here is a picture:
I don’t have a lot of shelves or display shelves anyway, so I had to use the top of my graphic novel/manga section. There are just bulletin boards above them, so that made it nice for hanging posters.
One thing I HAVE to change/fix is that they’ve always just cataloged the books by the first three letters of the author’s last name. But then when shelving, it hasn’t looked at anything past those three letters. To the point where sometimes books by the same author weren’t necessarily even grouped together, and like a book by the author Clavell might be on a shelf before Clare. I was having such trouble finding things when I went to help students find books, that I ended up just going through and fixing them all myself, and I am going to eventually go in and reprint the spine labels so they will be labeled with full last names. And something I’ve never really been a fan of, I now thing that I might genre-fy my fiction. With the type of students at the school where I’m at, I think I’ll get more use out of the library if they can go look in a mystery section, a science fiction section, kind of similar to a bookstore. That’s a project for later though.
Saturday I had an all day online writer’s conference. When I signed up it said from 9-6, but I forgot that was Eastern times, and that actually it would start at 8 am. Come about 7:30 when I set my alarm, I decided sleep sounded better than what the first session I had signed up for was, so I slept in and started in during the second session. There were some really good sessions. The second one I went to about querying with a couple of agents actually gave me an idea for what I want to do for NaNoWriMo this year, maybe. We’ll see! And then there was one on using Scrivener. I’ve used it, but have had questions. The session on that had some great tips and things that I didn’t realize I could do with it, so it was definitely useful.
Books finished:
I’m having to once again speed through books to keep up with the SmartyPants Romance releases! I did actually have one DNF this week, but I will wait to share that until later.
New Books:
Got quite a few physical books this week!
ARCs:
The first picture is for a blog tour review coming up in October. The second picture was an exciting surprise box of ARCs from Sourcebooks Fire. It has been a long time it seems since I got a box from them. Two of them that I’ve been eagerly awaiting based on the authors and the third a new one to give a try!
Purchased:
While I got to read this one as part of the author’s ARC team, there was a pre-order swag prize you got if you shared your receipt. I got my book already, just waiting for the swag now!

What I’m Watching:
Well, this week has been a crazy one and I have been doing so much more reading because of all the books I need to get caught up on for blog tours. I am giving the new season of Dancing with the Stars a chance, but I am not really a big fan of Tyra Banks, and I do always get bored with this show I think. I did end up even zoning out this first episode. So we’ll see if I continue. And I was VERY excited for a new season of Survivor to start, and I already have one contestant I do not like.
Saturday night I could not find anything I wanted to watch on Netflix or Amazon Prime, but then when I started scrolling through Hulu, I found a movie I’d wanted to see when it came out, but it was only at one small theater in my town and only for like one week. So I finally got to watch My Friend Dahmer.

Your display looks good! Its tough to do things with limited space. I would go crazy with books not in full alphabetical order. I couldn’t handle that at all.
Yeah, it was driving me crazy! I mean I know kids mess stuff up, but this was ridiculous.
I can see why only putting the first three letters of an author’s name on the spine would be confusing. It sounds like the old Dewey Decimal system! All your new books look great, hope you enjoy them!
Oh I don’t mind Dewey, that has numbers and the last name, although only three letters of the last name, or not doing numbers after the decimal can be just as bad! lol Thanks for stopping by!
Wow you’re getting to really do your own thing there now and you are making some great changes.

A little bit. Slowly but surely. Thanks for visiting!
I enjoyed Survivor. It was great to have that show back. I’m looking forward to this season. Your books all look so good. I hope you enjoy them. Have a great week!
I’m excited for the new twists and turns on Survivor this season as well! Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve got no display space in my library. Need to make a plan! It’s a bit difficult with being the librarian and still have other classes too. Your banned books look stunning! Not something that’s big in SA. If it’s banned, it’s banned. But I am going to take a look at all the lovely banned books posts this week!
Have a good week Lisa.
Yeah, I can understand how hard it is having classes as well as being the librarian! Hope you have a good week as well!
The best method of organisation is the one that works for your students!
Looks like you’ve added some fabulous books to your shelves.
Wishing you a great reading week
Yeah, I’m thinking it should be what is best for them. Thanks for visiting!
Ooh great job with the display! Looks nice! And sounds like you have a great idea to imrpove the organization of the books…
Love that second crate of ARC’s too- those look fun.
I am very excited for those! Thanks for stopping by!
Good luck with the book reorganization! That sounds like a huge project. I liked My Friend Dahmer. I recently bought the graphic novel that the movie is based on. I’m excited for Survivor too. I hope you have a great week!
We had the graphic novel in my last library and that is why I was so interested in seeing the movie. Thanks for stopping by!
I enjoy looking through certain genres. I vote for organizing that way for sure. I am trying to think back to my old school library, but honestly cannot remember how the books were organized.
I think it will be great for the kids. Just will take some time on my part. Thanks for visiting!
I love your display! The midnight girls looks so pretty, I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for stopping by!
