Otherworld is amazing—like nothing you’ve ever seen before. They say it’s
addictive—that you’ll want to stay forever. They promise Otherworld will make
all your dreams come true.
Simon thought Otherworld was a game. Turns out he knew nothing. Otherworld is the next phase of reality. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted.
And it’s about to change humanity forever.
Welcome to the
Otherworld. No one could have seen it coming.
My Review:
My rating: 4 stars
This story reminded me a lot of Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. This definitely was different, but I liked that a lot of it took place in the virtual reality world. The book kept me reading, and it was so hard to put down. Kind of like the pull that the game, Otherworld, had on the people playing it. I definitely would like to have a virtual reality game thatt was as realistic and life-like as this one is.
I liked all the suspense on who and why people were being diagnosed with the problem that was putting them in coma-like states. As we got bit by bit revealed as the story went on, some of the people or culprits I had guessed, but they were done in a way that definitely wasn't exactly what I'd expected. And that is what I really like in a story. It seems as though we've ended on a note that will leave us waiting for book 2, and I'll be eager to see just where that will take us. What questions that we didn't get answered will be addressed in book two, as well as what new plot points we'll discover and follow along with our heroes to solve, well I'm definitely on board for more.
I've read books by Kirsten Miller before, and definitely enjoyed them, however this is my first book by Jason Segel. You can definitely tell this had a male point of view when writing it, as there were definitely parts that fit.
Check this out if you like sci-fi, and especially for fans of VR, video games, Ernest Cline books, and the like.

About the Authors:
About Jason:
About Jason:
New York Times bestselling author Jason Segel used to have
nightmares just like Charlie, and just like Charlie, he's learned that the
things we're most afraid of are the things that can make us strong...if we're
brave enough to face them. Jason likes acting, writing, making music, and
hanging out with his friends. Sometimes he writes movies. Sometimes he writes
songs for movies. Sometimes he stars in those movies and sings those songs. You
might know him from The Muppets and Despicable Me. Your parents might know him
from other stuff. Nightmares! is his first novel.
About Kirsten:
I write books.
Some of my books are what librarians
call middle grade. (Kiki Strike, Nightmares!)
Some should be kept away from small
children and people with weak stomachs. (How to Lead a Life of Crime, The
Eternal Ones, Otherworld)
I write some books with Jason Segel.
I've written quite a few books on my
own.
I'm an Aquarius.
My favorite food is cauliflower. (No
joke.)
I will eat almost anything. And I'm
weirdly proud of it.
I believe New York City is the most
magical place on earth.
I love Dolly Parton and David
Attenborough. Equally.
I cannot sing or play any musical
instruments.
I'm obsessed with sewers and sanitation
systems.
I once broke into a Mayan temple with
my brother, Spike.
Spike is an alias. It's not his real
name.
I also have a sister. She prefers to
remain anonymous.
We have the same birthday.
Yes, that sucks.
I think that's all you need to know.

If I ever go back to a middle school, I might get around to the middle grades series. This one definitely makes me more interested. Thanks for visiting!
I love Jason Segel and this looks like a great fantasy book!!!
I am a huge fan of him as well! Thanks for stopping by!
I've read Jason's books before and found them exciting to read. I also read Warcross this year and loved the virtual reality parts so this book has a high priority on my TBR for 2018.
I haven't read any of his other books yet, but have been interested. Warcross sounds really good, I need to pick it up! Thanks for visiting!
Sounds interesting… I love stories about virtual realities and being in video games.
