Weekly Wrap-Up #14 with Giveaway

Once again I’ll be linking this up with both Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality) and the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

Oh my gosh was this one of the worst weeks ever or what? It just seemed that every day was a bad one. Just a lot of stupid little things. Last weekend and then on Monday and Tuesday the temperature got up to almost 80 degrees. So I had my air conditioner on. Well, it didn’t seem to be really cooling that well. So I changed the filter and when I did that Tuesday night, I all of a sudden got an error message on my thermostat saying the wires weren’t connected. I forgot that the way the furnace/HVAC unit door is set up, if you don’t get it put back on correctly, it doesn’t push the button that connects that wire. Once I figured that out, it worked. But then the temperatures dropped back to the 50s for the rest of the week, so the heat came back on. Now I don’t know if just the filter fixed the cooling problem. But this weekend I’m going to try to hose the air conditioner unit off like the guy I had out last year did and see if that helps. Oh the joys of home ownership!

Let’s just say that so far for Camp NaNoWriMo I am way behind. I did no writing at all this week. Part of that is due to issues like the A/C. Part is due to the fact that I have signed up for so many review books that I had to spend more time reading. Which isn’t a bad thing, except for when I’m trying to write.

On the new job, well I was off, the school board meeting where they approve hiring me isn’t until this coming Monday, the 12th. So I’m still waiting to give official resignation at my current job.

My mom and stepdad went out of town last weekend, and I went over and took care of their dogs 3 times a day. Then my stepdad came back during the week while my mom stayed and did her work remotely from their camper in Branson. He drove back down Thursday night, and so I’m taking care of their dogs again this weekend. I don’t mind it, and they did pay me what they normally pay someone else. I only hate the mornings. Because I’d still be sleeping normally on a weekend morning.

Okay, getting physical books this week was another incredible week! And I even got a surprise package from an author full of swag and a new book.

It came with a nice little thank you note in the box, thanking me for reviewing her book recently. While she suggested that I could package it back up and she would pay to ship it to one of my followers instead, I’m being a bit selfish in that I want to keep it because I had actually thought about buying the book package myself. But, I have decided that I will do a giveaway of her books, so that will be at the end of this post! Make sure to check it out.

I got a surprise ARC from Simon Teen.

I also got won a book from a Goodreads giveaway, and it’s been forever it seems since I won one of those!

A few weeks ago I won a signed copy of Marriage and Murder from a Penny Reid giveaway on Facebook, and that arrived with some swag this week.

And my Book of the Month Club selection arrived this week:

I got 4 e-galleys for review this week:

And I might have gone a little overboard with all the free ebooks I found this past week!

My membership to Audible started back up this month, and so the first audiobook I purchased was Ready Player Two, and I am listening to it and loving it!

Last Week’s Posts:

Reviews: The Cost of Knowing by Brittney Morris, Uncork My Love by Rich Amooi with GIVEAWAY, The Sin of Kissing You by Maya Hughes, Crave Thy Neighbor by Teagan Hunter, and Replay by Amy Daws

Promo Posts: Blog Tour: Havoc (Haven #2) by Mary Lindsey

Final Thoughts:

How was your week? Did you get any new books?

Also, while you’re here, don’t forget to go enter my March end of the month giveaway HERE. And a brand new giveaway here below! I’m going to give away any book by Erin Nicholas, and you can see a list of them HERE. I will give away one Kindle e-book if I get 50 entries. If I get 100 entries, I’ll give away a physical copy, as long as either Amazon or The Book Depository can ship to you. If I get 150, I’ll give away another e-book, at 200 another physical book, etc. So tell your friends to enter, and enter as many times as you can! There will be some entries that you can do daily! If you are a US winner, I might even throw in the mug from the box I got. As much as I adore it and don’t want to give it up, I’ve got so many mugs, and I’m not even a coffee drinker, that I’ve told myself I’m not allowed to get any more mugs.

Ugh, my spam blocker put this comment in the spam, so I just found it! A/C on last weekend, heater back on this week! Crazy weather. Thanks for stopping by!

    • Lisa Mandina

Yeah, fortunately the temps are going to be in the 50s and 60s this week, so not a huge rush on that being working perfectly, but I might just call someone to do a check up for me. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Sorry about the a/c. You always find a problem right when you need it to work. One more day! I bet you’re excited about that meeting tomorrow night. So much book love this week too. Simon Teens been good to you. They have love/hate relationship with me when it comes to approvals. Hope every book is a winner and that you can get back on track with Camp NaNoWriMo

I’ve got a connection at Simon Teen that I keep reaching out to. I’ve worked with her since she was at Disney, but when she left there, I now have no connection there any more. 🙁 Who knows about writing. Hoping tomorrow to get some done because I took the day off for a doctor appointment. I may go sit at Panera and write! Thanks for visiting!

  2. Yes home ownership is fun isnt’t it? 🙂 We had to turn our air on too one day it got so hot in the house. then the temp dropped the next day and it was heater time *sigh*

    Good luck with NaNo!!!

I had to turn the heater back on last night, and will probably need it all week as we are only supposed to be in the 50s this week. Which is fine since I know the heater works. lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh my goodness! You did get a lot of wonderful books:)). We tend to read ebooks these days as the variable font is kinder to our eyes. And all our bookshelves are now full up!

So sorry to hear about your difficulties with the air conditioning unit – it’s a funny time of year, when the weather can be so very variable. We actually had snow flurries today, although the sun was shining and fortunately nothing settled. Have a great week, Lisa:).

And of course our temps are back down to the 50s this week, so I’ll have the heater back on. I read a lot of advanced galleys as e-books, but otherwise I really like having a physical book still. But yeah, our bookshelves sure fill up quickly! Thanks for visiting!

Hoping this week is better as well. For one thing I already know I have taken Tuesday off, so sleeping in is a bonus! Thanks for visiting!

I know, right! And for a while I was winning a bunch of Bookish First giveaways, but I haven’t in a while, and there have been books I’ve really wanted! Plus I forgot to log in really early this morning to try to use the points I have to just claim one. Maybe next time. Yeah, I bought the hose to spray it down because I probably just need a hose anyway. But I might end up just calling a repairman, my friend’s husband. lol. Thanks for visiting!

  4. I am sorry about your bad week and the A/C issues. Hopefully everything is going better this week. It sounds like the giveaway win and your reading was a bright spot though–so yay for books! I hope you enjoy your new books. Have a great week, Lisa!

    • Lisa Mandina

Thanks! There were a few things that totally made up for the bad things. Glad you could stop by!

It’s been a bit better. Got my official new contract for next school year and that new library job this week, so that was a good thing for sure! Thanks for stopping by!

    • Lisa Mandina

Same! We had snow yesterday morning and then it is cold again today. But supposedly we will be up in the 80s again next week! Thanks for stopping by, hope you get warmer weather soon!
