Blurb:

From author Meghan Quinn, comes a new fake dating, standalone sports romance featuring the hockey men you can’t get enough of. This steamy, age-gap romantic comedy will bring all the laughs while making your cheeks blush at the same time.

Running into your ex is never ideal.
Running into your ex who is now dating your nemesis is a literal nightmare.

That’s how I found myself in a sheer panic, reaching for the closest guy at the bar and kissing him. And to my delight he was easily the most attractive man I’ve ever seen.

The only problem is, when I tried to walk away after thanking him for his help, he stopped me with three life-changing words . . .“You owe me.”

That’s how I found myself, a college girl, in a fake relationship with a professional hockey player ten years older than me.

At first it was easy.
He helped me with my internship.
I helped keep his ex away from him.
We were becoming fast friends.

It wasn’t until he started staying the night at my dorm did the rules of our arrangement become complicated.

Now my feelings are involved and even though I kissed the right man at the right time, I’m worried he’s just waiting for the clock to run out.

My Review

Once again Meghan Quinn has hit a sports romance out of the park, or is that a bad sports metaphor since this is hockey? Let’s say she wrote a major Barnburner! My trying to find a good phrase definitely fits with our heroine, Ollie, and her having to learn about hockey for a project for her internship. And luckily she ended up fake dating a hockey player. Now I’ve been waiting for Silas Taters’ story since the first book in this series, Kiss and Don’t Tell. So getting his book was exciting!

I will admit I was a little unsure about whether I’d love this one as much as usual because there was the big age gap. Not that there haven’t been age gaps in Quinn’s books before, but none seemed to stand out to me quite as much as a 21 and 31 year old. However, I should have known, the way this was done was perfect. It started off with lots of jokes from Ollie about how Silas was a grandpa, I loved that. And honestly, Ollie was the instigator in the sexy times, making her seem a bit more mature in some ways. That could be because younger generations seem to be more comfortable and open about that part of their lives. They don’t have as much of the shame that might have been more widespread with older generations, even one that is early 30s. And I’ll just mention the Jacob’s Ladder piercing, and leave it at that for Silas.

Another awesome part of the story was the hilarious banter and dialog, again something that I know I will get every time I read a book by this author. And texting conversations. I mean there was one text that was sent from Silas “oye, my dick” that I couldn’t stop laughing about for like 15 minutes. Not to mention the emojis sent during that same text conversation. Plus we have the “meet-cute” story that Ollie created out of thin air when she got nervous at their first fake date event. The whole donkey pervert story, and then the actual trip to the zoo? Trust me, you need to read it.

As I mentioned before, the bedroom scenes were hot, in and out of the bedroom. There was definitely a little bit on the edge with that aspect as well. Ollie’s friend Ross even got to enjoy spending time with the team, and it was nice to see Ian Rivers on the team get a chance to be with someone we knew.

I was a little upset that Silas got the way he did about the big final drama, I think it was a teensy bit of the dram for drama’s sake that is in a lot of romance stories. However the author made the final make-up actions real and complete. All of that even ties into how much I love when Quinn connects all her stories and characters we’ve come to know and love from other series by giving them small walk-on roles, or even a little more than that in this story.

Another winning story from one of my favorite authors. Now to wait for the next Vancouver Agitator to get his story, that will be a wait I’m sure. Thank goodness Meghan Quinn is so prolific and I’ll have other books from her to enjoy along the way!

Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter are narrating in duet this sexy, sports romance! One-click your copy of RIGHT MAN, RIGHT TIME on Audible today!

  1. She got a Hat Trick! LOL, only hockey term I know for a big deal thing. I haven’t picked up a sports romance in forever and I’ve been wanting to try this author so maybe here with this one.

He is older. I don’t mind when the woman is older, but I’m not always a fan of an older guy because it is kind of creepy to me. But this one worked!
