I’m connecting up once again with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer.
As this posts I’ll be at my library conference!
Sunday was a nice day at home. Blogging, enjoying the beautiful weather. Saturday night I’d gotten a text from my mom asking what I was doing and if she could call. I was freaked out and worried she’d had another bad day with my stepdad, but when she called and I heard her voice, it was so nice to hear her in a good mood and excited about things. It seems my stepdad is seeming to do a little better with eating and wanting to go out and actually eat with my mom. They also got a bunch done with getting rid of stuff in their basement so that was good too.
Monday was another easy day at school. I also did slip outside about the time we got the full amount of eclipse for our area, we had beautiful weather too. Came home and relaxed after work.
Tuesday another easy day. A few things besides the discipline thing, some actual real uses of the library today. Had SPED kids come in a group to have a test read to them. Had a college representative come speak to students. Had a teacher who brings her classes every week to check out come down. I also noticed a few teachers have been kind of reaching out to me to say they appreciate what I do, and even checking before they send students down. Spoke to someone at my mortgage company after work because I’m considering refinancing to get some cash out to pay off credit debt since houses are worth so much right now and at least that interest is tax deductible.
Wednesday was pretty easy too. I had a teacher who came down to have her students do research and I showed them some of the resources we had. So it was nice to get to be a librarian for at least part of the day. Had one teacher ask if I’d gotten one of the jobs I’d applied for, which I did find out that it was already filled. But it was a classroom job, not a library job, so I’m okay with that. Otherwise a pretty easy day. It was nice weather, other than a bit cloudy.
Thursday was a mostly easy day. We had the college person there that meets with students. That’s okay, except I have to call into classrooms for all these students to come down to the library, and I’m not a fan of that. I got my hair color touched up so I’m a complete redhead again. It was so windy I told my hairstylist not to bother anything other than blow-drying my hair. Had pizza for dinner. Went home and watched tv with the dogs.
Friday was a day. While the library itself was mostly quiet, there was a fight, and then I guess several students texted/called their parents saying they’d been threatened by another student and to come get them, without telling any adults at school first. So with all the craziness, our interventionists weren’t able to be in the library most of the day. And there is a group of girls that come in and sit with one of them all the time. When I reached out to the interventionist, she said if she’s not there, they need to just go back to class. They did that the first hour she was gone. But then they came back the next hour and when I told them the same thing, I got attitude and just plain rudeness from them. So ugh to dealing with students on Friday. It was a pretty warm day, and since I was going to be leaving town on Saturday and be gone till Tuesday, I went ahead and mowed when I got home from work because the grass was kind of tall.
Saturday was a nice relaxing morning to wake up and just take it easy getting ready to go out of town. I got the book I ended up ordering last minute Friday night from Amazon delivered before I left. Took the dogs over to my friend’s, and then drove the two and a half hours to Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach. Or I guess it is called Margaritaville now. Didn’t realize their check-in time was 4 pm not 3 pm, so I sat in the lobby for about an hour waiting for my room to be ready. Then I just relaxed in my room and read and enjoyed some alone time that I’ve needed for a while! And I mean alone with no dogs to have to let out every couple hours. I love my dogs, but that gets old. Love the view from my hotel room!

Books Finished

The first two were e-galleys for author’s request reviews. Reviews were both this past week. Third was an ARC I got from the publisher at the AASL conference last October. Review should be on Monday.
New Additions to My Library
ARCs:
None
Audiobooks:
None
Bookish Stuff:

So technically this isn’t “bookish” but I wanted to share my other purchase I made last week when I was feeling down. I’ve always wanted a Survivor buff, so I ordered one that is my favorite color. It is from one of the tribes this season, not the greatest, but the color is orange, so I got it.
E-galleys:

I think I requested this one on Edelweiss because I got an email saying I was approved to read it. It doesn’t come out till later this year, so I’m excited for it!
Free E-books:

I saw that Anne over at Books of My Heart got the first one for free last Sunday and so I immediately went and checked to see if it was free, and it still was last Sunday! Second one was in an author’s newsletter, but also free on Amazon. And then there was an email with a ton of sweet romance freebies that I might have grabbed a bunch from Amazon too. The very last one was also free on Amazon, but is not one of the sweet romances, I’m guessing it is my usual steamy romance.
Physical Books:

So, I don’t think I requested this first one? Or if I did, I didn’t realize it was a novel in verse. Which are not really my thing. But I’m going to try to read it because I follow the author online, and the story sounds really good. The second picture was a last minute order I placed Friday night before I was going to the library conference because I needed the first book in the picture to meet the author. If I’d realized I didn’t actually have physical copies of the other author I plan to see at the conference’s books, I’ve have ordered those, but I had to have a certain dollar amount to get the 4-8 am delivery from Amazon on Saturday morning, so I gave in and bought the Meghan Quinn book.
What I’m Watching
All the usual, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Young Sheldon, and Ghosts. And of course rewatches of Outlander episodes as I feel the need! I guess I should also mention that I have the CW reruns of The Big Bang Theory on every night too when I get home from school. I did go back and continue watching the new Twilight Zone episodes with Jordan Peele when I kept having trouble with my STARZ app on my tv. Amazon Prime suggested this show called From, so I watched the first episode which was really good but left off with a cliffhanger, and then it tells you that it is available if you subscribe to MGM+. I was so mad!
Then one of my favorite authors had her home remodeled on a show called Down Home Fab. I don’t really watch that type of show, but I watched just to see her house because she’d been talking about it. Then after that I got sucked into a House Hunters International, another type of show I don’t watch, because they were in Scotland and the first house they looked at was like the ones I just loved when I was there!
And finally the Passionflix movie of Wallbanger, one of my favorite books premiered on Thursday night and I loved it! Especially some of the updating they did, like her dreams of people that I wondered if the actors would be outdated, and in this movie they were actually characters from other movies/books that Passionflix has made!
Coming Up Next Week on My Blog

First is an ARC from the publisher that they sent without me requesting. Second is an egalley I got from the author, but also am reviewing for a blog tour, should post that review next Saturday. Third is another e-galley, from the SmartyPants Romance latest releases, review should be posted on the 18th. Fourth is the audiobook, next in the White Trash Zombie read along and will be posted on Friday.
My next few weeks will be mostly SmartyPants review books.
Final Thoughts
I’m so happy to be at the library convention this weekend. Looking forward to being around other librarians and feeling like there is hope that I haven’t been feeling at my actual job lately. Not to mention hoping for lots of reading time as I got last time I came too! How is your April going? I hope it’s going well for you! Here is my lovely reading view for this conference!

Have a wonderful time at the conference, it sounds like a well deserved break! I’m glad your step dad is doing better too. Have a good week😁
Thanks! Already feeling so much inspiration that I hope doesn’t get squashed away the minute I’m back on Wednesday.
It’s great this week was mostly easy, especially since I think your sub clerk was out? Anyway, the conference is a great chance to get away on your own. The view is great. I hope you make some good contacts and friends at the conference.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
My sub clerk was there this week fortunately! But yeah, it was an easy week for a change. She’ll be alone Monday and Tuesday while
I’m at my conference, hoping she does okay! I’ve already had some great inspiration and met new people as well as connected with some old friends.
Looks like a wonderful hotel room, i don’t get how kids are able to just randomly get out of school so easily now a days. My mom would never have just dropped everything to come get me but my highschool was almost 45 mins away from home. To Gaze upon wicked gods looks good that cover is really pretty. Hope it was a good and that you had a nice relaxing time before going back to work. Have a great reading week.
The things kids get away with today is kinda crazy! My review for To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods should be up tomorrow.
I tried to comment on your Sunday post, but I don’t know if it went through!
Glad to hear this was a better week for the most part! That’s nice the library was used for actual library reasons this week for the most part! Sorry to hear about the one job, but if it wasn’t entirely what you wanted to do, that’s probably for the best! And ooh nice view! Hope this will be a good conference for you too! I know this is a business related one, but man does it make me miss the RT conventions I used to go to! I wish they could’ve kept going, of course, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to go all the time, but they were definitely nice!
Nice new reads too! These are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
There’s not as much author stuff as those conventions, but the talk here with other librarians about promoting books and reading, and the authors that are here is just so awesome!
Glad you had a mostly easy week, even if Friday wasn’t great. Hope the easy trend continues!
I hope it continues as well! The rest of my school year will be mostly laptop stuff I think, but that’s the way it tends to be.
I hope you enjoy Nine Month Contract because I am going to read that soon. It’s cool that they did Wallbanger justice. I will have to watch it.
I did enjoy it, it was really good! Posted my review last week if you want to check it out. Hope you enjoy it as well!
The eclipse was amazing. I went to a park to see it. A lot of people had the same idea of going to the park too.
Have a great week.
Where I live it was only like 88%, so it didn’t get completely dark like the last one we had, 2017? But still cool to look at. Thanks for visiting!
I hope that you had a great time at the convention Lisa! Have a great week.
The convention was a blast and so inspiring to me to get back to school and try again to get the school to work with me on some great ideas to help the kids!
That view is lovely! I hope the conference is going well. Oh… My mom leaves me those types of messages. I missed a call from my mom the other day and her voicemail was “Call me when you can, it’s not an emergency.” Well, of course I worry… because she’s fallen, broken bones, and called it “not an emergency.” Luckily this time it really wasn’t!
It was a wonderful conference in such a beautiful resort! I was glad to hear the good stuff from my mom, even if then she had some not so great days with my stepdad this weekend.
I am so glad to hear that teachers are reaching out to you and actually showing appreciation! It sounds like you had a better week this week. I hope the library conference is as amazing as it sounds!
It was definitely a better week last week, and I got some rejuvenation and inspiration at the conference that I hope I can carry back into my job.
Sounds like you had a better work week and yay on the getaway! That view is beautiful! Perfect place to relax and read!
It was a wonderful conference and I loved being able to sit out on the balcony and read in between sessions and meetings.
