Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting. As usual my choice is a sequel, this time to a scary little story I read about this time last year called Mary: The Summoning. I got to read it as an egalley from Netgalley, so maybe I’ll be able to get the second one the same way! Here is the blurb for this new book from Goodreads:
Mary in the mirror.
Mary in the glass.
Mary in the water.
Mary lurks in the emptiness, in the darkness . . . in the reflection. That is, until Jess unleashes her into the world. Now Mary Worth is out and her haunting is deadlier than ever.
No one is safe.
Shauna, Kitty, and Jess must band together to unearth the truth about Mary’s death to put her soul to rest for good. Their search leads them back to where it all began-to Solomon’s Folly, a place as dangerous as the ghost who died there a century and a half ago. Quick sand, hidden traps and a phantom fog are the least of their worries. To stop Mary, they need to follow a dark string of clues and piece together a gruesome mystery that spans generations.
But time is running out.
As chilling facts come to light, Mary inches ever closer to her prey. Can Jess, Shauna, and Kitty break Mary’s curse before it’s too late? Or will history repeat itself until there is no one left to call her name . . . ?
I’m so ready to read on and find out what will happen next! It definitely had some spooky bits, and went in a bit of a direction I didn’t necessarily see.
What book are you eagerly awaiting this week?
I didn't even realize there was going to be a sequel!!
I was excited when I found it on Goodreads. Thanks for stopping by!
Um, I didn't even know this was a series. Now I must read!
Yes, you must! 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
That cover is perfect and creepy.
The first book was definitely creepy as well! Thanks for stopping by!
I still need to read the first one. I have read The Awesome, which is by the same author under another name, and really liked her writing style.
I haven't heard of The Awesome, I'll have to go check that out! Thanks for visiting!
Bloody Mary is one of the screepiest stories I know, and while I'm usually not a horror freak, I could totally love this story for a good background, like you said in your review for book 1. So putting this on my tbr, thanks for sharing, and I hope you enjoy this sequel in the meantime! =)

Sounds creepy! I'm not usually a fan of scary stuff, but this might be a good book for Halloween.

It was scary! Would love to see them as movies. Thanks for visiting!
I think I need to go back and read Mary: The Summoning. This series sounds frightful, but good. 🙂

I didn't read the synopsis because I still need to read the first book, although I'm pretty sure I have it somewhere. I was so excited for the first book, too. I need to get on that.
