Third time’s the charm? But I’ll be sure to link this up with both Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality) and the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).
Well, just kind of busy again this past week! Plus with my dog home from his surgery, and he’s wanting to mess with the incisions/stitches, it has not been a fun week to try to do anything on the computer at home. He’s had to wear the cone of shame a lot, and that does not make him happy.
Here he was the first night giving me the old stink eye.
He has since become more used to it, able to sleep even. However, with his long face, he is still able to get around and lick where I don’t want him to be licking right now, so we had to try the diapers. And let’s just say they aren’t really made for a long wiener dog body as the picture below shows.
Even as skinny as he is, the XS was too small, but the S is too big, too much gapped up around his little legs. And he was so funny trying to walk in it. To the point he had one leg sticking straight out behind him. It was funny, but sad. So needless to say, won’t be using those. And we’ve got another week until the stitches come out. So send me positive thoughts on being patient with this little boy!
This week I only got one physical book again, through a books for trade deal on Bookish.com.
I did get two books for review, one an e-galley and the other an audiobook:
While I’ve slowed down a bit on reading, I’m still for the most part on track. Even if my Goodreads goal says I’m one book behind. I’m blaming that on the dog as well. I feel bad if I pick up my book and try to read instead of petting him and trying to keep his attention off of his incisions. I have been listening to a hilarious audiobook in the car though, Clanlands: Whiskey, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish of Outlander tv series fame. It is basically a buddy road trip with lots of fun stories about themselves, the trip itself, as well as some fascinating Scottish history. Listening to this was definitely the way to go, but I’m going to have to buy a physical copy to place on my bookshelves as well.
Still working on binging Reign. A few episodes a night is all I do, because I try to still go to bed by 10 pm. Usually I read during that time, but again, haven’t done much of that this week, partly why I’m getting a bit behind on my reading I think.

Poor pup! I don’t think I have ever seen a dog in a diaper. Bless you as you change them.
Well, the diapers aren’t really working. They just don’t fit right. So it’s mostly the cone and me watching him constantly. And a half a benadryl every once in a while. Thanks for stopping by!

The Queen’s Assassin was one I really wanted about this time last year. When I’d gone to the library convention in November of 2019, I’d hoped to get the ARC but did not. So it was a nice trade for now. My dog is slowly healing. I can’t wait to get stitches out though and feel like there is a little less to deal with. Thanks for visiting!

Thanks! He doesn’t seem to have any pain really, just irritation from the incisions. So a benadryl is helpful not only to kind of make him sleepy, but I’m sure it helps with itching. Thanks for stopping by!

When our late dog had to wear the cone of shame, he took it out on us by whacking our shins! He was a little booger about it. In the past cones we had to add cardboard extenders because he’d find a way to lick whatever stitches he wasn’t supposed to touch. I think in the end we did find a nice oversized floppy one that wasn’t so heavy on his head and long enough to block his reach from wherever we were trying to keep him from. I miss that little stinkhead.

That’s a good idea about the floppy ones. I almost bought one the other day, but figured it wasn’t really that much wider than the plastic one, so wasn’t sure. I might go back and do some measuring. Thanks for returning the visit!
The floppier one worked good for our dog since he was older. It was lighter on his head so he didn’t have to struggle to lift it up.

It’s always so funny when your pup gives you the stink eye. When one of my dogs wore the cone of shame, my mom made an olive prop and had a photo shoot where he was dressed like a martini! Happy reading!

Argh the cone! They are sore on your ankles! The last time my dog was at the vets and I was expecting her to come out with the cone but they put a compression onesie on her so she couldn’t get to the stitches and we just undid the back end when she needed out.
Unfortunately a onesie wouldn’t have covered the stitches he had for his hernia or else that was what I was going to try next! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
