Sunday Post #6 and Stacking the Shelves – May 4th, 2014

Posted May 4, 2014 by Lisa Mandina in Stacking the Shelves, Sunday Post / 34 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Last week on my blog:

Once again I met my goal of 2 reviews this week.  I finished my A to Z April Challenge this past week as well.  And I wrapped up my prequels and sequels that were read in the last two months.  I did take both Friday and Saturday off from blogging because I had done at least one blog post every day in April because of the challenge.
This week on my blog:
  • Review of Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
  • Review of The One (Selection #3) by Kiera Cass
  • Wishlist Wednesday
  • Re-cap of Dark Days of Spring Tours event Thursday night
  • Review of End Times by Anna Schumacher
  • Stacking the Shelves
I should hopefully finish Beautiful Darkness today.  And I will be buying The One on Tuesday, and hoping to finish it before I get to see the author Thursday night.  I intend to do some unique Wishlist Wednesdays this month leading up to BEA.  I believe this week I’m going to do my wishlist of authors I hope to meet at BEA.  Then next week I’ll probably do my wishlist of ARCs I hope to get at BEA, and the 3rd Wednesday of May I’ll probably do a wishlist of the finished books I’m hoping to get at BEA.  The last Wednesday of May I’ll be on a plane on my way to NYC for BEA, so don’t know that I’ll get anything blogged that day, but will hopefully get lots of reading done while I am traveling.  I’m really hoping to find out a way to meet up with a bunch of bloggers that I know are going.  The first time I went, 2 years ago, I did meet some, but it was kind of by chance, ending up in line by them. Which may be the way it happens again, oh well.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  I actually am doing a 2 week post, as I didn’t have much to share last week, plus was kind of busy on Sunday, so waited till today to post it all.

ARC received from publisher:
I requested this through a link in the Shelf Awareness email newsletter, and shortly after the package arrived from the publisher.
Won:

I received a physical copy of The Iron Queen by winning the Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop at A Casual Reader’s Blog stop.  I won an e-copy of The 5th Wave from Another World of Books’ blogoversary giveaway.

E-galleys from Netgalley:

I keep trying not to request more e-galleys, but I had to have the 3rd book in the Dante Walker series, and the other one just sounded too good!
E-galley from Edelweiss:
I requested this one, even though I now found out that the author is supposed to be at BEA, so I may get an actual physical copy of the book there.
Free e-book downloads:

These are two that I found for free.  Now I think the first one I actually got the whole series in one book, but not sure.
99 cent e-book download:
Normally I don’t want to spend money on e- books if I can help it, but this one just sounded too cute to pass up for that price.
So, what are your plans for the upcoming week?  Will I maybe get to meet you at BEA?  What books did you add to your shelves this week?

    • I loved BEA last time, hoping now that I kind of know what to expect I'll enjoy it even more this year. I hear so many great things about The 5th Wave, can't wait to read it! Thanks for visiting and I'll stop by your post as well!

    • I have been waiting so long to read it! Was even supposed to have gotten one through YA Book Exchange, but it never made it to my house. BEA was cool last time, hoping it will be just as cool this time! Thanks for stopping by!

    • I hear so many good things, I just have to fit it in! Yay! I need to start making a list of who is going to BEA and their Twitter handles, so maybe we can all connect! Thanks for visiting!

  1. Looking forward to a convention is always fun. BEA sounds very cool. I've been curious about the Monument 14 series and will probably read those at some point, if I can ever get to them. πŸ™‚ That cover of Savage Drift looks pretty bleak. In a good way ha ha.

    • The Monument 14 series is a pretty good read. Hope you get a chance to read it soon! But I know what you mean. There are so many out there I want to get to some day. If you ever get a chance to go to BEA, you should, it is so cool, and lots of free books! Tons!!

    • Not bad at all. I have many books like that, ARCs even that I wanted so bad, but then other things just sounded better when I was ready to read something new. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll check out your post as well!

  2. Yay for The Warrior! You SO needed it. I really enjoyed it personally. I thought it was a great ending to the series. As for The 5th Wave, I've been meaning to read it for SO long now! I would like to start the Monument series at some point, since they sent me book 2, I believe.

As for BEA- I will be there! I am so excited! πŸ™‚ Have a great week Lisa! Thanks for checking out my STS! πŸ˜€

    • I still have to read the 2nd one before I can read The Warrior, but I loved book 1, so ready to read!! I'm so happy that there have been some good endings to series lately.
Glad you're going to be at BEA! I am going to start making a list of bloggers I am going to try to find and meet! Thanks for returning the visit!

I'm feeling a bit lost without the A-Z Challenge right now-it's such an adjustment to go from posting like crazy, to actually having some down time/no set blogging schedule πŸ™‚

    • You know, I was feeling that way too this weekend! I felt like, oh my gosh, I've got to blog, what am I going to blog about! Then I remembered I was done with that. So took some time off. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I still haven't read The 5th Wave, but I hope to soon-ish! I also plan to read The One this week, most likely on Tuesday itself!
    Happy reading!!

  6. The 5th Wave is one of my favourites at the moment – I can't wait for the second book! πŸ™‚ I also need to catch up with The Iron Fey series, I really liked the first book. Happy reading!

    • I haven't heard one bad thing about The 5th Wave, that's why I've been so impatient to get ahold of it. I've read the first two in the Iron Fey series and really liked them both. So ready to read on now. Thanks for stopping by!

    • I'm so excited, can barely wait until I get to go! Like you I've heard a ton of good things about The 5th Wave. Just can't wait till I have time to read it now though. I thought How to Get a Love Life sounded really cute, so had to go ahead and get it.
