Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser:
“That’s what many people remember about the 1980s: neon fashions, the jumbled faces on a Rubik’s Cube, Duran Duran videos on MTV. But the real spirit of the decade was the valorization of work: relentless industry as the supreme virtue.”
~ p. 48, “Last Night at the Viper Room: River Phoenix and the Hollywood He Left Behind” by Gavin Edwards
OMG I totally want this book. I had a crush on River when I was a kid. Sad he died so young…..
It's pretty interesting. Not boring at all, like sometimes memoirs or biographies can be.
Oooh, what an interesting book! I hadn't heard about it before! Happy reading!
It is very interesting!! Thanks for commenting.
I know how this book ends.
kidding. 🙂 I just picked up an autobiography this week. I can't wait to just read something real for once. Great teaser!
It's kind of like the Titanic movie. 🙂

That's a great quote! I love analysing pop culture, so that line is the sort of thing which would make me pick up this book. It's great when a biography can put a famous person in the context of the times in which he lived. =)
I think that is what made it so much more interesting to read than biographies can often be.
