Once again I’ll be linking this up with both Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality) and the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).
This past week we are back to more normal temperatures for this time of year for Missouri, along with a few higher than normal temps. All that snow melted really fast too! But it was a crazy busy week. Our school brought back about 20 seniors who were in danger of failing, since all the other students are still remote learning. Also we had two tests this past week. All the 11th graders came in for the ACT on Tuesday. And then all the 9th graders came in for the Pre-ACT on Thursday to make up for the test we were supposed to give them on the Wednesday before when we had all that crazy snow and cold. Of course what I kind of expected would happen, did happen. The library gets stuck with all the kids when they are not with a teacher for a specific class. As once again we become babysitters, even though I still have my own study hall classes to do a Zoom attendance meeting with during four class periods as well. And I’m still trying to finish up inventory. I’d like to get the actual physical part of inventory of going through every single book done before the end of March since we will either be getting all students back the last week of March or the first week of April depending on what the Kansas state legislature decides. Don’t even get me started on wondering how in the world we are going to do that and social distancing.
On a more positive note, I got my second COVID vaccination shot on Friday. I’m glad to have that out of the way. And even though I heard a lot of horror stories about how it caused some side effects about 12 hours after getting it, I’ve had no issues, other than maybe I was a little extra tired last night. Of course that could also be blamed on my crazy busy week.
On Monday I went to an endodontist, because I might have needed a root canal. Well, they have fancier equipment in their office, and after taking a CAT scan, it turns out there is a crack in my tooth that makes it a waste of time to do a root canal. So instead I will have to have the whole tooth pulled out. Not sure if my regular dentist is doing it, or if he’ll send me to another specialist, but I go see my regular dentist this Tuesday. It’s the very back tooth on the bottom right side, so there’s no reason to have to replace it or anything. It’ll just be something I have to get used to not having a tooth there. The endodontist said he’s got the same thing with a missing tooth there and it is no big deal.
I only got one physical book last week, and I made a fun Instagram photo of it, and the author even commented!
Only one e-galley this past week, but it was one I was very excited for!

I’m glad that you were able to get both of your vaccinations under your belt. I will have to do a cross country drive, then a cross country flight, before flying across the world, and I’m a little scared that I won’t have at least one vaccine before I do all this traveling. It seems that our area just keeps getting passed up for vaccines, so we are really far behind on the progression of who gets them.
Oh wow! That is crazy! They need to get all this sorted out. I live in one state where the teachers haven’t yet gotten their shots, but I teach in the next state over and they, at least the county I teach in, made sure that our teachers and school staff get their shots toward the top of the list. I hope you’re able to get your shots before you travel, at least one!
Wait! They are doing virtual study hall? That is one fo the most absurd things I have ever heard of. Another second dose success story. My brother-in-law had chills and a bit of a fever, my sister was fatigued, my 76 year old father – nothing. Our 85 year old neighbor – nothing. Glad it went well for you.
Well, technically I just have to have them log into the Zoom for taking attendance, but still it is ridiculous. Yeah, I hope most people don’t have to deal with bad side effects, but a friend of mine that I used to teach with at my last school district got sick from the second shot, so I guess it just all depends! Yey for getting both doses of the vaccine! They’re going to open it up for everyone to be able to sign up on the 15th, so I’m really looking forward to getting that scheduled.
