Synopsis:

One accidental pregnancy. One fake husband. What can go wrong?

There’s nothing like starting your Monday morning with a positive pregnancy test.
Trust me, I know. Because I’m looking at one right now.
All I can think is: Oh, hell. My grandmother is going to kill me.
This might just send her to an early grave, so there’s only one option—pretending the father is my new husband.
If only he’d agree to fake it.
Kai Connors was supposed to be nothing more than a one-night stand. A long, dirty, one-night stand fueled by one too many tequila shots, where the only promise was to never speak of it again.
But if my unfairly sexy next-door neighbor gets his way, this fake marriage could turn out to be very, very real…

My Review:

As usual, I adored this book by one of my favorite authors, Emma Hart. Now while you don’t have to read the prequel, The One Night Stand Next Door, reading that is definitely something that is nice to have the background knowledge of how this whole pregnancy debacle began. I loved the snarkiness of Ivy with her pregnancy hormones, as well as Kai’s sarcastic personality and his interest in Ivy to begin with was just as sweet as could be. Also a usual thing we find in Hart’s stories is a wonderful group of friends and siblings that if we’re lucky, she’ll be giving us their stories in future installments of this series. There was even a bit of an Easter egg about characters from other books in this one too if you’ve read her other books. And you can’t have an Emma Hart story without a wacky grandma, although this time, she was a good Catholic woman and that is what led to the fake marriage with the pregnancy forcing Ivy’s hand.

My only complaint is that we didn’t get to see this all the way through to the baby being born. I get that will probably be part of the other stories, but it seemed as if it made this one end kind of abruptly for me. Still, this is really a sweet, fun, quick read, which let’s face it, a lot of us need just that right now!

About the Author:

Emma Hart is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels and has been translated into several different languages. She is a mother, wife, lover of wine, Pink Goddess, and valiant rescuer of wild baby hedgehogs. Emma prides herself on her realistic, snarky smut, with comebacks that would make a PMS-ing teenage girl proud. Yes, really. She’s that sarcastic.

Synopsis:

Look, I didn’t go out of my way to sleep with my next-door neighbor.
It just happened.

On the counter. Over the counter. Probably under it, too, if we hadn’t moved it to the bedroom.

But take it from me: a one night stand with your neighbor?
It’s not all it’s cracked up to be…

The One Night Stand Next Door is a short, flirty, and dirty prequel to The Girl Next Door. You don’t have to read it before you dive in to The Girl Next Door, but why wouldn’t you?

My Review:

So this is the prequel for The Girl Next Door. First off, just know that it is FREE!!! While you don’t have to read it first, since it is free, why not go ahead and just go download it now so you can? But just like with my review above, this was the exact type of humor and romance that I expect from an Emma Hart story, and so I will highly recommend it as well! You get to meet Ivy and Kai, and fall in love with both, as well as their colorful neighbors and even Ivy’s best friend Tori who we meet through texts.

  1. Sorry, you didn’t love the ending to The Girl Next Door, with the abrupt ending. I hate those as well, but I’m glad that overall these two books were enjoyable and you liked them. I do enjoy a good Emma Hart book and definitely can admit I haven’t read enough of them. These two will definitely be added to my TBR pile very soon.

I’m okay with the ending since I know I’ll get the info in the other characters’ books, but it was just different than how accidental pregnancy stories usually end. You should read them for sure though! Thanks for stopping by!
