I’m connecting once again with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer.
Sunday woke up to a sunny morning. I forgot to mention that the night before when my mom and I were hanging out with my niece and nephew that we’d played a fun game called Uzzle. Then we watched short YouTube videos about the Disney cruise ship we’re going on in July, the food, the islands, and the kids were excited about the water slides on the ship! I got up and did some blogging. Finished reading my current book to post a review on Tuesday, but then realized that book doesn’t come out until the 17th, so I was a bit early on it when I should have gone ahead and read the one I did have planned. Oh well. I went and got a car load of stuff from the storage place to go through, and probably only have one, maybe two more loads to get out, so we can hopefully get out by the end of the month and quit paying for it. For dinner it was at my mom’s house for family Sunday dinner. We ended up watching more YouTube videos about the cruise ship we’re going on. It’s about a month away!

Monday morning was another lovely sleep in day. I got up and had breakfast, washed up my Bru-Mate mugs from the past week, and then did some blogging. Got an email from a publisher and realized I really SHOULD have read the book I had planned before Seven Year Itch, because I forgot I had an author interview that needed to get out before pub date on Tuesday, and I still had a lot of the book to get finished. I did a bit of blogging before making sure to spend most of my day reading so I could post that on Tuesday as the publisher emailed and requested. Had a good long lunch with my friend, so much stuff we had to talk about. She found out a few months ago that she had skin cancer on a spot on her nose. So she had surgery and it is all gone now thank goodness. Spent the rest of the day reading, ordered Chipotle for dinner, and about 9 pm I was able to get my review written for the post to go live on Tuesday.

Another sunny morning on Tuesday. Got up and paid bills since it was pay day. Then did some blogging. Got the dress I ordered from Filly Flair in the mail for my cruise. Decided to cancel the MRI that was scheduled for Wednesday when I found out it was going to cost me $1200 out of pocket. The reason my doctor set it up isn’t something that I can’t just avoid doing so that I don’t have the issue. So I have other medical things I’d rather worry about for now. Spent time doing some reading for my graduate class as well. Had leftover Chipotle for lunch, and leftover from Sunday night family dinner for dinner. It was leftovers galore day! Although in the afternoon when I took my dogs out, Argyle ran out to bark because the new neighbor was mowing. I carried Dora over to her spot in the grass to potty. When I looked over to the bottom of the steps we had just come down, I saw about a foot or more of a snake sticking out of the cracks between the steps as if it was going under the deck. So I picked Dora up and kept an eye on it until it was completely under the deck. It took a bit, kept kind of coming back out a little bit, then going under. And now I’m creeped out! I mean I knew there were snakes probably in the yard, but seeing one is a different matter!

Wednesday was going to be the hottest day so far! And it was! Sunny and hot. I got up and went over to help my mom take some things into her shop/booth in the Painted Tree store. Then she and I went and had Mexican for lunch. I tried something new, and it was okay, but I won’t do it again. Then we went to her house and took a quick photo of each other that is needed to check in to the cruise Friday night/Saturday morning. I came home and did the discussion assignment for my grad class. Then a bit of blogging. I put the chicken breasts in the crockpot so I would have that too. I got a bit of vertigo in the afternoon, tried the Epley maneuver, but that once again didn’t seem to work for me. In the evening I went to the local romance bookstore Penny Reid author event. Getting to listen to her be interviewed by authors Max Monroe was a riot. The only sad thing about ordering my copy of the book this way is that I missed out on some of the pre-order goodies. But they did have little pins that were for the Penny Reid tour! I did finish my book for the review due Thursday while I was standing in line waiting for the author event to start. Got my review post written and scheduled for the blog once I got home. Then since it was about 9 pm I watched the news with the dogs before going to bed, and I was tired enough I went straight to bed without any reading.

Thursday morning woke up to a gloomier sky, cloudy and a few rain sprinkles throughout the morning. I got up, had a quick breakfast, did some blogging, and then grabbed some lunch and went to my mom’s to spend some time with her dog since my mom was driving down to Branson to sell her campground membership and then driving back afterwards. I took some lunch over. My vertigo was a lot better today. I thought I’d use her Netlix, but I actually ended up taking a nap on my mom’s recliner love seat with her dog for about an hour or so, couldn’t quite keep my eyes open to watch anything and the cloudy day made it easy to drift off. Plus her dog, unlike my two, will actually lay down and snuggle, and maybe I need to get a recliner type of couch again too, easier to lay down that way. Ran by a local cookie store to try their cookies again. Once again while they are good, they’re nothing great, and they’re very expensive. For 6 small, maybe 3 inch diameter, kinda thin cookies, it was $18. That’s a lot when my other favorite cookie place I think I can get a dozen for $24. They did have lemon buttercream this month though, and I thought I’d try it. Made a casserole for dinner, went through another tub of stuff from my storage place, and just relaxed at home the rest of the evening. Although shortly after dinner, Argyle started acting like his back was bothering him.
Friday morning I woke up after a not so great sleep. I was worried about Argyle all night, and so had got Dora’s extra cage back out and had them sleep separately all night. While he seemed a little better in the morning, I’m still too worried to do anything that might keep him from getting better or hurting himself worse. I feel like I can’t catch a break. With Dora finally being back to normal and thinking I could relax the rest of the summer. Now I am stressed about Argyle. He was so happy and playful all day Thursday. I did get out of the house around 10:30 am to go meet the person buying my air fryer from the Facebook marketplace. Then I went and had a quick lunch before dropping other things off at the Goodwill location. Then I had my laptop with me so I could go work on my grad class assignments at the library and do a bit of blogging. I figured I could concentrate more if I got away, but then of course I felt guilty leaving the dogs in their cages, even if I know the crate rest is good to keep Argyle from hurting himself worse. It was a cloudy day, but still pretty warm. I had to take a picture of my passport to do the check-in for the cruise at 11 pm, my scanner on my printer wasn’t working for some reason, so I ended up going over to my mom’s to use her scanner to get a better one ready for the cruise check in at 11 pm. Then my mom and I went to Red Lobster for dinner, and I came home and hung out with the dogs.
At 11 pm my brother called me and my mom to do a group call while we all checked in to the cruise for next month. Man, was that complicated! But it is all ready to go, so yay! Only a month! I was very tired though and got to bed late. But the dogs, well Dora, still wanted to get up at 8 am the next morning.

Saturday morning was sunny and getting warm quickly. For Father’s Day for my dad, my sister, stepmom, and I all went to a local restaurant for brunch. Then drove and sat at a Starbucks near the car shop where my sister needed to drop off her car for a check up before she drives on vacation in a couple weeks. My brother had originally booked a space at one of those T-Shotz golf places for the evening, but decided it was too hot for that, and instead he booked an indoor golf place. It was a little earlier than the original plans, so instead of meeting them for that, I just met them afterwards for dinner. In between the two events I just went home and read to try to finish my review book, and finished watching the 2nd episode of Resident Alien for this season that I’d started Friday night, but had to pause when we did our cruise registration. Oh, and Argyle did seem to be more like himself so I gave him a little more freedom to go up a couple ramps and down the 4 stairs to go out, but I still tried to carry him up the stairs when coming back in.

Books Finished

First was the e-galley for the author’s review team that I finished up on Sunday, but then realized it doesn’t come out till the 17th, so that review will be this week. Second was the finished copy that I got from the publisher, and then got an email from them that reminded me I had an author interview to get up, and so I got it read on Monday and posted the review with author interview on Tuesday. Third was the e-galley I got from the author’s review team, review posted on Thursday with a Book Blitz and Giveaway. And last was the e-galley I got from the publisher and finished up before bed last night, and the review should be posted on Monday.
New Additions to My Library
ARCs:
None
Audiobooks:

I got this on Libby from the library. Again got bored with the audiobook I was listening to, and saw I could get this one immediately. I have loved this whole series as audiobooks from this author, so thought it could keep my interest.
Bookish Stuff:

So I love J.J. Knight and she is writing kind of her first “bad boy” romance in the Pickle-verse. These Pickle family boys are hiding from their family and running a motorcycle bar called The Leaky Skull. The first shirt was too cute and I had to order it. Then I got my June Picklegram from author J.J. Knight in the mail. The envelope had a little hole in it, and the little clip and ring at the end were unattached when I opened it. But I put them back together. The last picture was from the local romance bookstore that hosted the author event with Penny Reid. All the employees were wearing this shirt at the event, so since the place we took my dad for brunch was just a street or two over from bookstore, I dropped by and grabbed one.
E-galleys:

When I got the email with the e-galley for the first one I was so excited! I was afraid I might not get it. But I did, and was so glad to get to read it, my review was this past Thursday. The second one I’m looking forward to reading at the beginning of next month for the author, it sounds good!
Free E-books:

Saw the first one listed as a freebie on Bookbub, and since I’ve enjoyed this author in the past I went ahead and grabbed it. The second and third were both listed in authors’ newsletters, the third one was just on sale, but with the Amazon credit I had it ended up being less than 50 cents.
Physical books:

First one was sort of a pre-order? This came with my ticket to see Penny Reid when she came to the local romance bookstore Wednesday night. Second was a book I saw this past week as a promo on another blog and it sounded fun so I decided to just buy it. Got it very quickly from Amazon!
What I’m Watching
Resident Alien season 4 started on SyFy, so I was excited to start watching that. I also had to watch the last episode since my Peacock subscription ran out before I could get that last one watched. And I did rewatch a few season 1 episodes of Outlander.
What’s Coming Up Next Week

First is the e-galley that I finished up last night, review will be Monday. Second is the e-galley I finished last week thinking it was coming out last week, but instead my review will be posted on Tuesday the actual pub day. The next two are e-galleys for the authors’ review teams, reviews should be Wednesday and Thursday. Last is an e-galley I think I requested on Edelweiss or possibly the publisher sent me.
I am planning to join into the Summer Giveaway Hop to get some of my later ARCs sent out for giveaways, so check that coming on Friday.
Final Thoughts
We are halfway through June! And this time next month I will be on my Disney cruise! I’m so excited and also so nervous! Friday night/Saturday morning we had to “check-in” and that was fun at midnight to make sure we all got the same boarding group. I also started working on a packing list on Canva based on what the travel agent sent. Usually I just pack at the last minute, but didn’t want to do that this time. Also did pretty much all Father’s Day stuff yesterday too. I did order a nice little metal post to take up to my stepdad’s grave that I will probably do that today.
Halfway through June also means my summer break is about a fourth of the way over. This week I’ve got my dad coming over to help with something in the garage that I can’t take care of by myself and maybe with something in my bathroom vanity cabinet, but other than that I should hopefully have lots of time to read and blog, as long as the dogs stay healthy and I get my classwork done too!
How was your week? What are you looking forward to this week?
Oh nice! I am positively freaked out that you saw a snake in your yard! I about screamed just reading about it! Needless to say I do not like them! Lol. They give me the creeps and just eek!!! Glad you were able to get your blog tour book finished in time after all that! That sounded a bit scary! But I guess it’s a good thing you’re on summer break! Lol. So question about your Under the Cover bookstore signing. Did they make you line up outside before the event? Just trying to get an idea of how all that goes as I think I saw my signing next week takes place after the store closes. I plan to be in the area super early, but thought I’d ask you as well since you were just there! Lol. And cute shirt! I might have to buy me one of those as well!
Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them! And ah! I keep forgetting Resident Alien started back up. My mom and I stumbled upon that one on one of out streaming services. Netflix I think? Or possibly Max when we still had it?? I can’t recall! But we may end up waiting for the full season to be up for bingeing as it makes it easier for cliffhanger episodes! Lol. Hope you’re enjoying that one too! Wow, an 11pm checkin for the Disney Cruise? That’s nuts! But you said it was to ensure you and your family were in the same boarding group? I’ve never been on a cruise, let alone a Disney one so I didn’t know it had a special process. Lol. Hope you have a blast on that next month too!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Is it scheduled to actually be in the bookshop? I’ve not been to one in the bookshop, only when they’ve had events at the event space like a block away. I’d assume they have you line up outside as that’s what they did at the event space. If it was me I’d be there at least a half hour before. But it’s never been anything I needed to really be there that much earlier. Especially if it is still in the store like yours is, because the store is smaller, so there shouldn’t be as many people as if it was at the other place. Yeah, this shirt was much cuter than the one I’d bought from them after they first opened, so I had to go back for one. I know all of Resident Alien was on Peacock, but I think Netflix might have all the past seasons now since it is starting up again. I just hate that it is on at 10 pm for the new ones because I usually go to bed at 10 pm, I’m kinda lame like that, lol.
Glad to see you are enjoying summer. The heat is on here too with afternoon thundershowers. Thanks for sharing the Jennifer Probst – I used to read a lot of hers too. I have saved T-shirts too which are RABGRAI bicycling shirts and Harley shirts. I am going to make a quilt with them as they are all cotton. It’s a nice way to keep and enjoy them.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Yeah, we’ve been having a few pop-up showers too. Which the local news weather people keep saying is normal, but I don’t remember that in the past. My mom has made one quilt for me with a lot of my sorority shirts. It wasn’t her most fun thing to do, so I doubt I’d get her to make me another one. But for now I boxed the tshirts up to put in my laundry/storage room in my house. I’ll probably take them out some other day in the future to enjoy the memories again. I don’t even know if sororities still wear letters like when I was in school.
I feel your excitement about the cruise. You will love it Lisa. Have a great week.
Thanks! The countdown has been on for it, but now that it is less than a month away it’s really REAL! lol
I am shocked at the prices of things like donuts and cookies. Crazy!
Wow! That cruise is going to be amazing! DO NOT BE LATE! Ships don’t wait. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard.
It sucks that we have to pick and choose and prioritize our medical issues because of cost.
We only have one day on the cruise that isn’t on Disney property, and we don’t have much planned that day, so we will for sure be back to the boat on time! lol. I hate that I pay for the most expensive insurance my district/job provides, but instead of co-pays now you have to do the deductible. If I go to the hospital for things, they usually will set up a payment plan. But places like Diagnostic Imaging don’t do that. And the issue isn’t something that occurs without me doing a specific action, and it’s not an action I actually need to do or really ever do anymore, so I’m not concerned. But yeah, it sucks!
My husband mowed over a snake once. The dogs found the pieces. It was unpleasant. A disney cruise sounds fun! I hope you have a great time!
I know of people who have done that. I haven’t yet, thankfully, my dogs would have found the pieces too and tried to eat them. Ugh. I’m getting so excited for the cruise!
I think I’m gonna be living vicariously through you while you’re on your summer break 😂 I literally just had some vacation time like two months ago (I am NOT including the week off I had last month because I was sick the entire time 😤😂), but I’m already ready for another break 😆 I’ve just been so emotionally and mentally exhausted this year. Not to mention physically exhausted because of the freaking anemia 🙄 Lol. But yeah. I love reading about what you’re doing on your break. And I cannot wait for your cruise so you can tell us all about it! 😆 I’ve never been on a cruise so I’m very curious.
I hope you have a great, restful week!
Ugh, it sucks when you’re off and you’re sick! I get what you’re saying about the being exhausted. This school year has been that for me. I needed this break, even if I will miss the summer school money. I’m so excited for the cruise. Debating if I’ll pay for wifi or not, but I can’t imagine not having it at all, so we shall see! It will be my first cruise, so I’m both excited and nervous!
Sorry about the MRI thing, but I’m glad you’re able to avoid the problem without too much trouble. Health costs are crazy! I hope you have the best time on your Disney cruise! I really want to go on one someday. That’s definitely on my bucket list. Oh, and I had to chuckle a little at your NKotB shirts. That was the first concert I ever went to. 🙂
I wish I could afford to do it, because if it did find something that maybe could be taken care of, that would be nice. But like I said, I don’t have to do the thing that causes the issue, so I’m passing for now. I’ve never done a cruise before, so it’s kind of my bucket list too. And I think Disney cruises are supposed to be really good because my dad and stepmom have gone on them twice. It’s so hard to get rid of those t-shirts! In fact I think those ended up in a tub condensed from the other tubs they were all spread out in, at least for now! lol
I love the Kansas City Romance t shirt. The Disney Cruise sounds very organized, especially since you have to check in early as a group! I also love all the old t shirts you found in storage. I wish I had saved all mine😁 Have a good week, Lisa!
I loved the shirt and had to get it! Yeah, I was telling my dad and stepmom about the check in and they said it wasn’t like that when they went? Of course I think their last Disney cruise was like 2007. I saved too many things! Between the basement at my last house, and then having the storage when I moved, I’ve got to get downsized so eventually I can move to a smaller place. But we’ll see. As long as I have my dogs I like having a yard.
Those old tshirts are great. I wish I’d kept my concert shirts over the years. It would be fun to see them all now. My weekend was good, other than it being cool and rainy (Saturday). We had a grad party on Saturday and then went to my in laws on Sunday for Father’s Day.
I seem to keep EVERYTHING! lol. That’s why I’m doing all the cleaning out now. I know I have newer concert shirts that I still wear too, and have so much trouble getting rid of things. Sounds like it was a nice weekend for you!
Glad Argyle is doing better. These dogs will drive us mad with worry right? I hope you love the Armstrong book. I loved her first romance in that series (companion) so much. I can’t wait for this one. I might even break down and grab a copy. Your cruise sounds like it will be a lot of fun and what an event of a lifetime right? You always plan the greatest vacation getaways. I can’t watch Resident Alien because I’m not a huge fan of the actor playing the MC. Hope you are loving it though. Have a great week and watch out for that snake – I’d still move.
They totally keep us worried! I enjoyed the first romance she did in this series too, so very looking forward to reading this one! I have enjoyed that actor in a couple of other things, and he plays an idiot so well in this one, lol. Yeah, I’m totally creeped out constantly now when I go outside. And guess I will be keeping the grass mowed better now too!
Fun getting to meet Penny Reid! I’ve enjoyed several of her books. How exciting that your cruise is just around the corner! Wildflowers looks good! I look forward to your thoughts!
This was a re-meeting? I had met her a couple times at Book Bonanza events. But yeah, it was really fun to get to listen to her be interviewed by the author duo Max Monroe!
We sometimes watch videos about cruise ships and we’ve seen a few about the Disney cruise ships, which ship are you going with? I hope you’ll have a great time! That MRI is pricey, so I can see why you cancelled it if you can avoid doing. That must’ve been a shock seeing an actual snake in your yard, it’s better knowing they are there, but not actually seeing them. Are the snakes you have there dangerous to you or your dogs? Glad to hear your vertigo lasted only a day, but it’s always so annoying to have vertigo. Those cookies do look good, but that is pricey and if they aren’t as good as your favorite place it makes more sense to get them there. That cruise check in does sound complicated and why is it so late at night, but glad that is done. Sorry to hear about Argyle acting like his back was hurting, I hope he is doing better soon. You have a lot going on lately with your dogs, hopefully both of them are back to normal soon. I hope you have a nice week!
We are going to be on the Disney Dream. I can’t wait! Hoping to have a blast, and just to enjoy the new experience. I’m a little worried about motion sickness, but will bring dramamine and maybe some of those motion sickness patches? Tempted to buy the little bracelets fro acupressure solutions, but with wearing my Fitbit and the Disney band, think that might be a lot on my arms, lol. Technically we didn’t HAVE to check in so late at night, that’s just the soonest you can. But they made it sound like you wouldn’t be able to get a good boarding group number, you know like on Southwest Airlines where you got your boarding number to get on and had to wait in a long line I guess? But we still got a good one. I’m hoping my dogs are doing okay. It’s stressful worrying about them all the time. But I guess at their ages, 14 and 12, there is going to be more and more of that.
I haven’t seen a video about the Disney Dream, but we did watch one about the sister ship Fantasy. I hope you’ll have a great time and don’t get motion sick. I easily get motion sick too, so I understand the concern. Ah that makes more sense that was the soonest you could check in and it sounds having a good boarding group number is important. I didn’t realize your dogs are that old already, the older pets get to more common health stress get. How old does their breed get usually? Hopefully you still have some good years with them with not too much stress.
Because they are smaller dogs, dachshunds can live a long time! My last one only lived to 13, but I wasn’t as good with her nutrition or keeping her from doing things she should do like stairs, jumping, and with her weight that caused her issues. One of the dogs I grew up with that was a dachshund lived to 17 years old! So I’m hoping for more good years with them, but know that the last few years could be stressful with health.
I didn’t know dachshunds could live that long, that is nice they can get that old. And that you now know how to feed them and what they shouldn’t do, like stairs. I hope you get some more good years with your dogs, but it is a shame they get more health issues when they get older. We used to have pet rats and I remember how the last parts of their lives was stressful with all the health issues and rats don’t get very old, only 1,5-2 years usually.
I had guinea pigs when I was little, it is rough when they don’t live long!
Loving your book haul. I love anything lemon expect lemonade…lol
That is hilarious! I do like lemonade, and lemon flavored stuff.
