I’m connecting once again with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer.
Sunday the temps had dropped after some rain and a cold front moved through the area. So I switched from the pj shorts I had been wearing around the house to the pj pants. Which was kind of irritating to the sunburn I had on my knees. I had to finish up my classwork for my online class, and then I got to do some blogging! Visited Sunday posts and tried to get back to the people who had visited me last Sunday when I was in NOLA. Had to run to Walmart to pick up some Benadryl, I didn’t have any around the house and figured I needed some until this rash/sunburn was completely gone. Had Sunday dinner at my mom’s house. Then just tried to relax and prepare for going back to work on Monday.
When I took the dogs out right before bed, the bunny must have been right by my little fence that keeps the dogs to a smaller part of the yard because Argye took off and wouldn’t leave that part of the fence and I saw the bunny run away I think in the dark. I think there was a next of baby bunnies though, because Argyle would not stop sticking his nose through the fence and when I got close to the fence, I saw what looked like little things moving inside a hole in the ground and leaves there. It got cold in the night so I was worried, but when I got home from work I saw some grass and some fur mixed in with the grass where the hole was. I used a stick to move the grass aside a little, and still saw something moving in the hole.
Monday – so cold in the morning again! Back to work, and ugh, I was frustrated right away and remembering how much I don’t like my current job. I eventually had a little time to take down the March displays and start working on my April – Poetry Month display. I decided to look up my blog posts last year in April because I like to share pictures of my displays. When I did that, I realized that this week last year was when I had that teacher comment on my Facebook post that the library was just a big open space for anyone and not my classroom. That was a rough week last year. I stopped by Chipotle on the way home to try their new Chipotle Honey Chicken. I liked it! It had warmed up throughout the day and the sun was out, so the dogs wanted to spend some time in the yard, and I did that. Did some blogging and relaxing with the dogs in the evening.
Tuesday was still cold in the morning, and warmer again by the time I left work. It had rained a bit during the day, and there were storms predicted for the evening. School was kind of busy. There were classes in the library all day for a project, and so there was a speaker, and then I talked to them for about 10 minutes with some refreshers on research, databases, etc. Really I was feeling kind of melancholy all day. Monday I was angry about things. But Tuesday I just kind of felt down most of the day. Came home and did a little blogging and then had to finish up a book to get a review posted for Wednesday. Did go to have a quick dinner with my mom early, so we’d be home with our cars in the garage in case of hail or storms later in the evening. Turned out the storms really didn’t do much in the area where I live.
Wednesday morning was nice sleeping in, then I got up around 8 am to pick my mom up at 9 am to get to her eye doctor appointment at 10 am. It was pretty good news, they think she doesn’t need to come back for 3 months instead of just one month this time! It was a nice sunny day after the clouds pushed through, but very windy. I dropped my mom back at her house to rest because she’s always tired and has a little headache after the treatments. I did some grocery shopping, to pick up things I forgot last time and to get gas for the rest of the week driving to work. Sat outside with the dogs a bit in the nice weather. Then came in and finished up my March wrap-up post to go live on Thursday. Worked on my graduate class a little bit too, as I had to download a program to do some coding for an assignment. And since it was Wednesday it was Survivor and Amazing Race night on tv. I also cooked some chicken up in the crockpot to have for lunches and dinners, as well as hard boiling some eggs to have for breakfast or snacks as well.

Thursday was a kind of blah day. Temps not to bad, but cloudy most of the day. Work was blah too. Although, I don’t know if I mentioned yet that they decided last week we are definitely going to have the students have to carry clear backpacks? Well I guess they came in this week, so we passed them out 7th hour today, and then any students who didn’t get it today should get it on Friday. Then on Monday they are required to start using them. I finished up my Poetry month display, although I may go back and add some border to the little bulletin board. Surrounding my display are all the little posters I made for teachers who sent me their favorite poems to share with the students. I came home and went to dinner with my mom, then watched tv and relaxed the rest of the night.
Friday was rainy and cloudy most of the day. School was kind of boring, fine by me. I had noticed my neighbors had moved their camper last weekend, and then had been doing a lot of weird stuff, pulling their truck into the back yard and moving things out of the shed, just out of the ordinary. I had a weird dream that they were moving because the people who owned their house was going to sell it. So I was nosy and texted to ask if they’d gotten rid of their camper and found out my dream was basically right! That sucks because they are great neighbors and Argyle loves their dogs. I guess the house needs a lot of work, so there is no way they want to buy it and are looking elsewhere to buy a house. Plus they want a garage and basement which it doesn’t have. I spent the night at home, finally eating some of the crockpot chicken I’d made earlier in the week, and just watched a movie. Oh yeah, it was National School Librarian Day, and the principal’s secretary said she had it on her calendar and brought me in some of my favorite candy! Then I got a bag of goodies at the end of the day from student council, and I assume that’s what it was for? And I made some new stickers for students.

Saturday woke up to rainy or at least dreary and cold again. I think in the 40s or lower! So my plans of mowing this weekend were out of mind for now. Which was fine because it was on tap to be a busy weekend. Although the sun did come out in the afternoon, it was still windy and cool. I made scrambled eggs in my Pampered Chef microwave ceramic egg maker for breakfast. Then did a tiny bit of blogging before going to Sam’s Club with my mom since she has a membership and I don’t. I got some snacks for my student reader giveaways. Also looked for a smaller shed to be able to put my mower in the backyard so I can get it out of the garage. At noon I went to meet my dad’s side for our weekly coffee date. We were able to reschedule my mom’s 70th birthday dinner from 7:30 pm to 6:30 pm by switching the location, we went from one Jack Stack BBQ to a different one, lol.

Books Finished

First was an ARC for the publisher that I’d hoped to have done and reviewed a week ago, but didn’t finish till this Sunday, so the review was posted on this past Tuesday instead. The 2nd was an e-galley for a blog tour review on Wednesday. Last was an egalley I finished Saturday night for a blog tour this week.
I also got my L-L-L-Little Review post up this past week, as well as my March Wrap-Up post.
New Additions to My Library
ARCs:
None
Audiobooks:

Used my monthly Audible credit for the first one. The second was free with a Bookfunnel download from the author’s newsletter. I’m not always a paranormal or dark romance reader, but her books for some reason I have enjoyed.
Bookish Stuff:
None
E-galleys:

All three were sent from publishers on Netgalley. They come out this summer and the last one in September I believe.
Free Ebooks:

These were all freebies on Amazon.
Physical books:

Forgot to mention that I borrowed the first one from my school library the week before spring break because I’m supposed to be doing a book club/chat for my AASL committee and I needed to talk about a graphic novel, so I chose this one! Second is a book I won from Goodreads and the publisher. It’s a finished copy and is already published, so that means I don’t know for sure when I’ll get to it?
What I’m Watching
All the usual, Survivor, Amazing Race, rewatching Outlander, and there was a new Ghosts this week now that March Madness basketball is done, well done during the week anyway. Friday night I watched a movie on STARZ that I’d wanted to see in the theater. I kind of knew what might be going on from the beginning, but with the way it was left and never really said for sure, who knows if it was actually evil/supernatural or just something like schizophrenia?
What’s Coming Up Next Week

Both of these are e-galleys for blog tours this week. I’m seeing lots of time to read right now this week and next without very many review books scheduled, yay!
Final Thoughts
And it is officially April? How was your first week of April? While I don’t have a ton of review books scheduled this month, I’ve got a lot of library stuff coming up! Next weekend I’ll be down at the annual state library conference that I look forward to every year.
What are you looking forward to this week?
I forgot to share this adorable picture of Dora last week with her little stuffed po’boy toy I got the dogs in NOLA.

Aww!! Happy National School Librarian Day! I missed it, and a woman in my book club (and great friend) is a school librarian. Oops!
Thanks! Of course this is really the first year at my current school that anyone has even recognized it.
I read and enjoyed Lunar New Year Love Story. I also read Just Our Luck as an e-ARC from NetGalley. NetGalley also provided me with Love is a War Song and it was just okay. I’m looking forward to reading your opinions on these. My first week of April had one excellent highlight–we went to see The Book of Mormon for the first time and it won’t be the last if it comes back. We laughed so hard! Have you ever seen this Broadway play? The actors did a wonderful job, delivering the jokes perfectly timed and the writing is so clever.
I am definitely enjoying Lunar New Year Love Story even though I’m not really a graphic novel reader. Oh no, I hope Love is a War Song is better for me. I was a little on the fence on downloading it. I really want to see The Book of Mormon, but haven’t yet. Hoping one of these days!
Its been so rainy here! And now its cold too! Dora is too cute with her little toy!
We had rain and some cold. The sun is out today, but I know we’ve got a couple more mornings of possible freezes. :-(. My neighbor is out mowing right now, which makes me feel like I should too? But I’ve already planned my day, so it will have to wait!
You really have a lot of good family interaction which is so supportive. Lulu has a taco toy that the neighbor gave her for Christmas. I hope you have a great time at your conference.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I am very close to my family and very grateful for them and how close we are too. I actually bought a taco toy for the dogs today when I bought their pet food because it was buy one toy get one free, so why not! lol. I’m excited for the conference, not just for the great PD with other librarians, but also just for time alone in a room to read and not be responsible for two dogs that want outside constantly, lol.
Do you work the summers? Our schools have media clerks and one district librarian and I know the media clerks work a week after school is out and come back a few days early, but they get the summers off. I think it’s sad kids have to have clear backpacks. They also fall apart faster than fabric backpacks. Too Hot To Handle looks like a fun summer read.
As a librarian I have extra days built in before the school year and after, so I have to work 5 days after. When I had a clerk she worked all those days with me. It is sad about the clear backpacks, I agree. I honestly just wish we’d have the metal detectors for when the students come in the building, but the district doesn’t want to do that. Good to know that they fall apart faster, will have to let my admin know. Too Hot to Handle would be a perfect summer read!
Girl, yes! I keep having to switch from summer jammies to winter and back again.
I love the chipotle honey chicken so I’m glad you liked it!
I’m also glad your mom got some good news at the eye doc.
So what happens if a kid hides whatever it is they don’t want anyone to see inside of a zipper case or something inside the clear backpack?
That’s good that you were recognized on National School Librarian Day!
Cute pic of your mom with her birthday cake and Dora with her po’boy!
Yes! And even I’ll wear capri pjs when I go to bed, but when I get up in the morning to take the dogs out I have to grab full pant pjs to go outside, lol. Exactly what the kids are saying about the clear backpacks. That they could still just stick it in the wasteband of their pants, and they have the big hoodies they wear over that would cover it. It’s just ridiculous. And I’m home “sick” today because of already frustrated with how admin is handling it.
Yay for baby bunnies! Hope they continue to do okay out there! Always nerve wracking with those little cuties around I feel like. But ugh, I feel like I remember you mentioning that comment about your library displays last year. Clearing that person has never stepped foot in a library because whether school library or public library, they do have these kinds of displays out! And I LOVE them! Glad the week was mostly kind and uneventful for you! I’ve definitely had those blah kind of days too. Hope this week will be filled with happier moments for you! <3
Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Hoping the bunnies are still alive but haven’t seen much movement out there. I’m hoping to mow if it is warmer this afternoon, so will be checking the little hole to see if anything is moving in there anymore. So far this week is not starting out better. Ugh.
Sounds like you had a super full week. I’m glad your mom’s eye appointment went well and that you got some good dog time in the yard (even if Argyle is now on bunny patrol). I hope this week feels a little less chaotic and that you get some time to relax before the library conference!
It was a busy week with some ups and downs, but nothing too down. This week is not looking to be so good.
Your dogs are so cute! I love when you share photos. Glad that being back to reality had a little sunshine when the student council and secretary gave you treats. It’s been cold and rainy here. The highs are only in the mid-40s. Brrr. I really want sunshine and warm weather. But I have been able to get in walks when it’s not raining. I hope you have a good week ahead.
We’re still having some freezes in the morning here. But of course with the nicer weather earlier, the grass has been growing and I need to mow!
I’m so happy to hear you were celebrated this week Lisa! Dora looks so sweet!
Dora is a sweetie. But she is my little old lady and I worry about her!
Awww, Dora is adorable. It looks like you and your mom had lots of time together, which is awesome. Happy Birthday to her. Wow, clear backpacks. I don’t think that would fly here. What about personal items they might be carrying. I hope you have a great week coming up, Lisa.
I do spend a lot of my time with my mom these days since my stepdad passed away last year. Yeah, the students are allowed an 8×8 nonclear bag that they can put personal things in. Personally that seems big enough to put a gun in, so not sure how that really helps us out. I mean maybe it helps with drugs? But again, that could fit in the smaller bag too. Oh well!
Aww Dora! She’s so cute. I’m sorry your neighbors are moving, it’s so hard to find good ones, at least in my experience. I hope this is a better week at work!
I’m very concerned about who I might get for new neighbors. I mean on one side the people who own the house have never moved in, so it’s sitting empty. Across the street that house burned down back in 2021 I think? And I don’t know any other neighbors. so far this week at work is NOT better at all. Ugh
Happy Birthday to your mom!
Your weather has been pretty similar to our.. rainy and cold.
Yeah, hoping for some more warm and sunny this week!
Hope the bunnies are doing well! I’ve never been to Chipotle but I always see people coming and going out of there!
If Looks Could Kill looks fun, I think I saw a blurb for that somewhere.
I mowed today and there were at least three baby bunnies in the hole, but one ran out when I pulled the grass up to see if they were still in there. I’m hoping he ran back to the hole to stay safe!
Dora is so cute. Look at her and her little toy. It’s been cooler here this week and I’m not liking it. They actually started using clear backpacks here in the high school at the beginning of year. I know a lot of kids were complaining. We’ve been watching “The Bondsman” on Amazon Prime. I love Kevin Bacon and it’s pretty good. It reminds me a lot of Supernatural. I think I need to check out If Looks Could Kill.
Yeah, we’ve had two mornings with freezing temps! Should be warming up a bit I think the rest of this week thankfully. I want to watch The Bondsmen. I might try it later this week!
That truly is an adorable picture of Dora – I’m glad you shared it! Sorry you had a melancholy start to your week, but I’m glad you got some treats for National School Librarian Day!!
It made for a nice day to see some appreciation.
