So I saw another blogger share their favorite first lines in a monthly post I think, and I got to thinking that would be fun! Now, I’m not great about remembering to notice that so often when I’m reading an e-book/e-galley. So I tried to take some pictures as I read this month to remember.
“I was hungry, I was sweaty, I was late, and there were three incredibly sexy men blocking my way up to my flat with the ugliest sofa I’d ever seen.” – On Loverose Lane by Samantha Young
“It was the wrong time to be living on the streets.” – All Better Now by Neal Shusterman
“I don’t know shit about body work.” – A Rebel Without Claws by Juliette Cross
“It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman in possession of a broken heart must be in search of a new man – or at least figuring out who sent her a mystery valentine inviting her to the Kiss Lottery.” – The Kiss Lottery by Ilsa Madden-Mills
“Thicken Nugget, you evil bitch, stop murdering half the desert,” I muttered from behind my camera. – I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming
Do you have any first lines that stood out to you this month? Do any of the ones I shared make you interested in reading more of these books?
Fun!
It was fun to go back and look and see which ones stood out!
How fun you did an opening lines post! I like your idea of paying attention when you start a book and then making notes of them, way easier than how I handled it for my post.
I like the contradiction of that first one with the “three incredibly sexy men” and then the ugliest sofa I’d ever seen” definitely an interesting opening line.
You have me curious about I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com as it sounds like a fun one.
I thought it was fun. But I have to make myself remember to do that when I start a book or I won’t get any next month I’m sure!
These are such fun!
I had fun looking for them. Hope to remember it next month too!
This is a great idea. I often highlight quotes I love when I’m reading and sometimes add them to my reviews if they’re really good.
I’m so bad about remembering the quotes unless I stop and make a note, I try to do that with Goodreads when I can!
