Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles That Make Me Sing

Posted February 4, 2025 by Lisa Mandina in Top 10 / 28 Comments

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

I had started making a top 10 post about hilarious book titles, and I found that several were ones that were puns based on song titles or lyrics and I decided that I would move those to their own top 10 post and change that hilarious title one to something different. So below I’m sharing the books that every time I read their titles I start singing the song it comes from. I haven’t read all of these, but want to!

I can’t help myself from singing “Pretty in pink, isn’t she…” every time I read this title. I can’t even just read the title without it being in the melody.

Can’t help but see the whole Tractor/Chicken scene in the movie Footloose when I read this title.

A song by The Beatles in my head for this one!

A freebie e-book I couldn’t pass up just because of this title. Good old Pat Benatar song!

Who doesn’t start singing the Paula Abdul song “Cold Hearted Snake” with this one?

Another Paula Abdul song, “I’m forever your girl”!

Gotta love this one that makes me sing Missouri’s own Nelly’s “It’s getting hot in here”.

These two are right on the shelf together in my library, and of course the song by Kansas, which to me is the theme song for Supernatural starts playing when I read the titles on the shelf.

A little Vanilla Ice for the first one, which makes me giggle how his name kind of goes with this title. I didn’t read all the books in this series, but there were several that worked for this post.

Okay, these aren’t punny plays on song lyrics/titles, but they still make me sing every time I read the title.

  1. I was going to mention the Karen Grey titles – she did the same thing with her second series, too. The one that always gets me is Hold Me Closer, Toni Danzig by Laura Henry.

  2. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oh wow! Fun topic! I would basically just choose Kim Harrison titles as Clint Eastwood films! Lol! Loving your new banner too! Very cute!

    Thanks for visiting my TTT!

I love when titles of books are songs or movies, etc. Just had a rush order from my banner maker for this one, although I wish it had the current superbowl number on it, this one works since was the first one in our race for a 3peat.

When I first realized those were that song, it was when I was binging the last couple seasons of Supernatural since it was going to end and I’d given up about the 10th season, lol.

This is maybe my favorite TTT post ever? I am not merely typing “lol,” I am ACTUALLY cracking up anew at every single one, even the ones I’ve seen before (“Holding Out For A Gyro” is just TOO GOOD). The cat is worried about me. 😂

LOL! Yeah, this was a blast to do. As a libarian, and when I worked in a bookstore, I’d have songs going in my head all the time from books like this, so I thought I’d do a post about it!

I actually haven’t read all of these, but all are on my TBR if I haven’t, lol. Thanks! LimaBean Designs does my headers, and I reached out for a rush order on this one!
