When Life Gives You Lemons, Fake an Engagement
When investment banker Adrian and software engineer Rowena started the day, they didn’t expect to end it engaged! But Adrian has invented a fake fiancée to impress his CEO, regretting the lie almost immediately, and now he is in hot water. Meanwhile, Rowena’s career has just gone up in flames, leaving her unemployed, unexpectedly expecting with no father in the picture, and short of options.
When fate throws these two hot messes into a meet-cute of epic proportions, it’s a match made in rock-bottom heaven. They say love is blind, and with nothing to lose, Adrian gets down on one knee… and Rowena says yes!
The rules of engagement are simple:
Pretend to be madly in love
Keep their real lives separate
Absolutely, positively do NOT catch feelings
However, faking it is harder than they thought, especially when every overnight stay comes with only one bed and zero personal space—blurring that imaginary line between ‘just business’ and ‘definitely personal.’
Soon, their carefully constructed charade starts to feel alarmingly… real. Can Adrian and Rowena stick to their engagement pact, or will their fake relationship graduate to something authentically messy, complicated, and wonderful?
Find out in this hilarious, heartwarming tale of two strangers who said “I do” before they even said “Hello.” Because sometimes, the worst day of your life just might lead to the best mistake you’ll ever make.
If the Ring Fits is an age gap, marriage of convenience rom-com with a multi-millionaire MMC and a STEM FMC perfect for fans of Lynn Painter, Sarah Adams and Fallon Ballard.

My Review
I really enjoyed the first book, This is Not a Holiday Romance, so I was excited to read this one too. I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience story. The meet cute was a total NOT meet cute, in that both ended up puking in bathroom stalls right next to each other! But it was perfect to lead up to how the story was going to go.
There was so much of the usual miscommunication or not telling the other when the feelings got deeper, just as you would expect from a story like this. In fact it was a whole misunderstanding based on this type of issue that led to the 3rd act breakup. But that also played into the post-partum depression aspect of the story. It was nice how the two of them complemented each other in the relationship. And how Adrian really was trying to help her behind the scenes too.
Now, when we got to the end, I feel like it was a little rushed as well as removed from the situation with the break up and all that, but I wonder if the author was trying to make us feel like Rowena was feeling with her PPD?
In the end another good story from this author, and I think maybe there is a friends to lovers romance on the horizon with some of the characters left in the friend group?

Sounds cute!
It definitely was!
I’ve still not read the author. Marriage of convenience is a great trope, but sometimes that third act break up is so frustrating.
It can be annoying, and it usually bugs me, but it fit the way the story was going. Even if I did feel like the story took a step away and rushed a bit at that point.
I’m glad that you enjoyed this one as much as I did Lisa! Great review.
It was a good one! I do like this author.
