Again I just feel like since I combine my end of December/end of the year post that it would be too long to include what new challenges I’m doing. So once again I’m doing a separate post for this. As you can see I had some fun with Canva and their AI image creator above for the button!
Once again I have set my Goodreads and StoryGraph goals a little lower this year, at only 150. I have to stop thinking that I have to have a goal that lasts all year, 150 is a little over 10 a month, so I am pretty sure I can do that! There’s also a Pages challenge on StoryGraph just for logging pages every day, so that is an easy one to do!

So I participated in this last year. I only planned to do the smaller one, but the Storygraph only had the option of the full one to keep track. That’s okay though, because then I could pick and choose which of the prompts I wanted to do. However it meant I couldn’t use the graph on Storygraph. I didn’t quite make the 24 last year, but I did get close! Let’s see if I can do better this year with my goal of 24.
The rules are simple:
- The book must have been published in 2024 or earlier.
- You have to start and finish the book in 2025.
- And that’s it! Here is the sign-up page.

ON HOLD FOR NOW!!
I tried listening to the first book, and I couldn’t get into it with the 3rd person POV and so much description of the world – like plants and stuff – that my mind wandered, so I might try back to read this as an e-book or physical book, but it will have to wait till the 3rd or 4th week of January when I finishe with a bunch of review books I have scheduled. I’ve seen and heard a lot about this author, but not necessarily thought about reading. I enjoyed the WTZ read along last year, although that was a series I had thought about already. So we’ll see! Here is the link to Books of My Heart if you want to join in!

Another one over at Books of My Heart is the Library Love Challenge, it is also hosted by Angel’s Book Nook. As a librarian I definitely need to do more of this! I’m going to set my goal that 12 of my books this year should come from the library. Whether that is the digital audiobooks I listen to, or ones I borrow from my own school library, that’s my plan!

I had a lot of fun and actually completed the Discussion Challenge in 2024, so I’m going to join in once again! I’m going to shoot to reach the 10 discussion mark, but that is still the lowest level of Discussion Dabbler. And I’m okay with that! This one is hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight. You can see the sign up post HERE.

I think I’m going to try this again! I ended up quitting partway through the year last year. But I’ve kind of sorted out my e-books based on length, and I’m going to look at some of the ones closer to 200 pages as opposed to 3-400. I know that we can include review and tour books, but my goal is to clear out those freebies I keep taking! So I am going to do my best to stick with that. And if it gets far enough in the year and I’m not happy with the results, then maybe I’ll give in and count those other types. HERE is the link to the sign up post if you want to join in as well! I will set my goal like last year, one a month.
Final Thoughts
So, maybe that’s more than I planned? I don’t know. But I think I can do these this year. Personally I’m going to try again to take fewer review books, we’ll see how that goes as January already looks kind of full.
Good Luck!
Thanks!
Well you’ve picked a bunch of my favorite challenges. It’s all about focusing on the books you want to read, really. Good luck! Thanks for joining in the challenges.
Thanks!
Good luck with your challenges. I also like to set my Goodreads goal a bit lower so I can reach it a month or tow before the end of the year. I want to try the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews sometime as I have the first 3 books in a box set I think. Thanks for linking to that Discussion challenge, I might consider joining that this year. I like your idea of focusing on those freebies you got, I like to try and get to some of those as well this year. I just never remember to link things up for the challenged like COYER.
I think that’s what kills me with the COYER challenge is that I forget to link up with all the stuff they have going on!
These all seem very doable! I’m doing different challenges which I haven’t posted yet. I may try Beat the Backlist one of these days. Good luck, Lisa!
I think so, will just depend how I can do on the BTB ones. Being able to kind of keep track of it on Storygraph really helps!
Good luck on all your 2025 challenges Lisa!
THanks!
You picked some nice 2025 Reading Challenges. Read the books you want and enjoy. You got this. Good Luck!
That’s what I’m hoping to do more of with books I have sitting on my TBR shelf.
Wait… YOU’VE NEVER READ Ilona Andrews???? This series is good, but not their best work. Although these are each romances, where as their other books are more long-term romances over the course of the series. They are my favorite authors. But I understand, it’s not always for everyone.
Good Luck on all of your challenges!
Nope, never! I met the authors in passing at the NOLA Storycon in 2017 maybe? I’ve not really ever been into adult paranormal romance or urban fantasy, so the stories just never sounded like I’d want to read them. I might try reading it instead of listening. It could be the world building/describing things was too much for me to listen. But when I read the book I can skim through that quickly to get to the story.
Great challenges! I don’t have a ton of backlist yet but I’m going to do this challenge. I want to get a handle before it becomes insurmountable. I look forward to hearing your updates.
My backlist is infinite and I’ll never meet it all! Lol, but I like putting a dent in it and getting to those books I really wanted enough to buy when I can!
Oh, my goodness Lisa. i love Ilona Andrews. I have read or listened to everything and I mean everything. I am keeping it real low key on the challenges this year, even on requests and just going with the flow. Best of luck!
Yeah, since I’m not enjoying it, that’s why I am thinking it might not be worth fighting through it when there are so many others I’m still trying to read. When we did WTZ last year, that was a series I had wanted to read already, so that was the perfect excuse to do it. But I’ve never really wanted to read Ilona Andrews, even with meeting them at a conference. I just really enjoyed the discussions we had with the WTZ books and wanted to be a part of that again. Oh well, maybe another series will work later on.
Good luck with your challenges! I joined the discussion challenge too.
Thanks! I already have one discussion idea percolating in my brain.
Reading that backlist is an important challenge. We used to do a similar challenge but now just have it as one of our bingo squares. Which, we’d love to have you join our bingo:)
I have been doing your bingo for the last few months, love doing it!
Yay!!!!
