Blurb:

One fateful evening. One ring. And a couple in for a big surprise

When social-media influencer Genevieve Harrington wakes up with the hangover from hell and a ring on her finger, she’s in trouble.

Already reeling from a failed engagement, Finlay McBride is caught in a nightmare. Agreeing to accompany his ex’s best friend to a party was meant to be a one-day-only act of kindness. Drunkenly proposing was not an option… And yet it’s there on the internet for the entire world to see.

Genevieve needs to limit the damage. Being with her friend’s ex breaks so many rules and her social media followers are quick to remind her of the fact. But she’s always had a secret crush on Finlay and now she has a chance to make things real.

Finlay soon discovers Genevieve is not the serenely indifferent woman he took her for. More and more, she opens her heart to him, and he starts to fall for her. But he’s leaving Scotland for a job in Dubai at the end of the month and he doesn’t want yet another failed engagement this year.

Together, they must decide if this is merely a moment of summer bliss or a love worth fighting for.

  1. What are your favorite romance tropes to read or write?

Brilliant question! I love tropes so much and I have many favourites 😊. My top favourites to write are grumpy/ sunshine and love/hate – both have the best opportunities for all the banter. As for reading, I’ll pretty much read any trope though I’m not a big fan of surprise baby/ pregnancy.

A Surprise Proposal in the Rose Garden has some great tropes in it. Best friend’s brother, a (different) friend’s ex, fake engagement, secret crush, all grown up… to name a few!

2. Do you always know how the story will end when you start writing?

Yes. I like to plan the whole book before I start writing so I at least have a vague idea of where it’s going, even if it’s just a few notes. It helps me stay on track and not wander off the plot.

3. Where is your ideal place to write? Do you have an office at home, or do you like to go sit in a coffee shop, library, or other public place?

I like to write at home either at my desk in my little office or on the sofa with my laptop if I’m feeling the need to be cosy!

4. I’m a big Outlander fan, so I have to ask, have you read the books or watched the series?  If so, other than Jamie and Claire, do you have a favorite character?

I haven’t read the books, but I watched the TV series. Maybe this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I felt a bit sorry for Frank (in the beginning anyway)! Not sure that makes him a favourite character though.

5. Do you have a dream vacation or place that is on your bucket list that you want to visit at least once in your lifetime?

I’d really love to go to St Kilda. It’s a tiny island that’s 110 miles from the Scottish mainland. It has a fascinating history and I’ve always fancied going there.

6. Some quick fun questions:

Hogwarts house?  Ravenclaw

Dogs or cats? dogs

Tea or coffee? Neither! (can I have a hot chocolate, please)

Audiobook, e-book, or physical book? e-book for fiction/ physical book for fact

Favorite season? Autumn

Thanks for answering my questions! I love reading about all this! I also felt sorry for Frank at first, and I am not a tea or coffee person either, hot chocolate or a Dr. Pepper for me!

Margaret is a bestselling Scottish author and chocolate lover who has been writing stories for over twenty years (possibly more if you count her primary school efforts). Her early works will never see the light of day and are locked in dusty vaults on some old floppy disks. But after all those years of practise, Margaret released her first novel in 2021. It was the first of a ten-book series set on the gorgeous Scottish Isle of Mull.

Margaret is also the author of the acclaimed Glenbriar Series, based in the fictional Scottish town of Glenbriar. This is an on-going series with more books coming in 2024.

The stories are unashamedly romantic but with lots of drama and an eclectic mix of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but followers of the series will enjoy catching up with the characters.
