The Chiefs had a bi-week with playing in Germany last weekend, so it was kinda weird, but no football game on Sunday. I got to sleep in, and then get up and do blogging stuff all morning. I went and ran some errands. Went to my brother’s house for dinner. I bought another holiday book at Barnes & Noble, a YA one, to maybe read for the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon.
Monday was a Monday. Not too crazy or anything as I didn’t have any classes scheduled in the library. Dropped by the post office on the way home from work to mail out prizes from last month’s giveaway. My stepdad went to his usual doctor for the follow up from the ER visit last week. Then he and my mom drove down to their Branson cabin which they had been supposed to do last week.
Tuesday we had the SOS (Signs of Suicide) prevention program at school, so the library was closed all day because we had counselors in the library waiting to meet with any students that either sounded like they wanted or needed help on surveys or maybe someone they knew they were worried about. Then I came home and fixed some beer bread and garlic dip to take to school on Wednesday for a staff potluck. So far only about 6-maybe 10 people on staff ever participate in these.
Wednesday was a busy day. I did go to a teacher’s classroom and do a quick lesson on databases and research. Only about 7 people brought stuff for the potluck, so we put it in a small room off the break room to try to limit it so those who brought the food got to get some first. Came home and relaxed. I did kind of have two review books I might DNF, one for sure, another still debating for the rest of Wednesday.
Thursday was another busy day. Everyone is in the mood/ready for the week off we get for Thanksgiving next week. We had a very short staff meeting after school, so I still got home only 20 minutes later than normal. Got an ARC in the mail I didn’t expect.
Friday was busy. Had a couple classes come down each hour to print. Had another teacher bring her classes down to spread out into groups. Then had a teacher decide last minute to have his students create podcast recordings for an assignment, so they came down last hour of the day to spread out and do that. It was just a long day waiting for it to be over so my Thanksgiving week off could start! I finished my first book I’d planned to read for the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon. I also ended up with another DNF, this time a book I’d just bought!
Saturday was a cold morning, perfect for sleeping in! Then I went to see my stepmom at the craft fair where she and my mom used to both have tables right next to each other. With my stepdad’s cancer this year, my mom hasn’t had time to get anything out to sell. So she didn’t do it this year. I bought some fun stuff. Some cookies decorated with Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift/Chiefs theme. And a little stuffed “chill pill”. I bought it so I could take to work and my clerk and I can pass it back and forth when we need it, lol.

Books Finished

First was the e-galley I was reading for a blog tour later this week for the author. Second was another e-galley, this one for an author review team. The review for it will be in December when it comes out. Third was another e-galley, read it for a blog tour review on Wednesday, but it also fit in with the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon.
New Additions to My Library
ARCs:

First was a surprise ARC from the publisher in the mail on Thursday. It doesn’t come out till March so look for a review maybe the end of February? Saturday I got an ARC the publisher had reached out to me about already. It also doesn’t come out till February, so look for a review then!
Audiobooks:
None
Bookish Stuff:

This was from author Denise Williams, I think I signed up for a mailed holiday card through her newsletter? And it came with a fun sticker that I put on my 2024 blog planner.

And my November Picklegram from author J.J. Knight’s Patreon is the picture on the left, and now all my charms on the bracelet we got earlier this year from her and that she sends charms occasionally. Just missing the crab charm because I didn’t get that upgrade of the Patreon at that time.
E-galleys:

Found the first one on Edelweiss on Tuesday and I love this author so I downloaded it. It’s not out till January so I won’t get a review up till then I’m sure. Second was sent to me for being on the author’s review team. Luckily this time I was able to add it into my review schedule. It is the end of this month I believe. Third is for the author’s review team, I’ll be reading and posting my review on its pub day, November 28th, or maybe the day before. We’ll see.
Free e-books:
None
Physical Books:

I bought the first one at B&N last Sunday. I do love the author, and thought maybe a YA holiday read should be part of my challenge. Unfortunately by the time I picked it up this past week and gave it several times to get interested, it ended up as a DNF. The second two are books I won from Books of My Heart’s Blogoversary last month. Lovelight Farms might be one I read for the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon too!
What I’m Watching
So the last two weeks there don’t seem to have been new episodes of AHS: Delicate, so that hasn’t been watched. But still watching my other shows of course, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Creepshow, and of course Outlander when I just don’t feel like concentrating on something new, but want something interesting. And another episode or two of The Fall of the House of Usher.
Coming Up Next Week on My Blog

The first is an e-galley for a blog tour. The 2nd one is an ARC I got at AASL.
It will be Thanksgiving week here in the US so I have the whole week off! Hoping maybe to get another Discussion post done if possible. And I’ll have a couple promo posts.
Giveaways
Don’t forget that I do now have the nice little box on the right hand sidebar so you can check out giveaways all the time!
My current monthly giveaway is HERE! Remember if I get over 100 entries in the monthly giveaway I add more winners, and so far this year I’ve had over 100 entries every month. And for September I had over 700 entries, so I picked 7 winners! I’m switching to $5 Amazon GC instead of $10 for now since I’m giving so many away. The new one started last Wednesday and runs till the end of the month.
I also started a Fall Seasons of Books Giveaway in September, so be sure to go enter that HERE. It runs till later this year.
If you’re participating in the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon I have a Christmas movie mini-challenge with a giveaway for that until the 27th HERE.
Final Thoughts
Will you be celebrating Thanksgiving this week? Have you decorated for Christmas yet, if you do that? Can you believe there are only two more weeks until December? Here’s a fun picture of my Dora and Argyle watching me while I blogged last Sunday.

The week before the week where one is off is always rough! Lol. I remember that from school days too, you’re just dying to get to break because at least during my college years this was the first “break” we got. So it was sorely needed! Lol. Hope you have a great week off and a great holiday as well!
Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones! That little chill pill is too cute! I love those kinds of things. I have zero knitting skills myself and I don’t think I really have the patience to learn either. Free time like that is spent reading! Lol. Hope you enjoy all the lovely new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Yeah, I have no knitting skills either. I did some cross-stitch for a while before I got dogs, and now there’s no way I could do that without one of them jumping up in the middle off my lap and sticking themselves on a needle. lol
I love those decorated sugar cookies and I often think of buying a few while at Caribou Coffee. I learned too that so many places including Chicago do not have a Caribou.
I do love decorated sugar cookies. Although occasionally places like the grocery store have decorated cookies but they’re not sugar cookies and they fool me every time!
I love knitting but only make wearable items. I haven’t done much knitting this year though. It’s great you get a whole week off. My daughter’s school only had that one year, when she was in kindergarten. I hope you enjoy Lovelight Farms. I really enjoyed it.
It’s next on my list to read, thanks so much again! Can’t wait to get started on it.
This past week was rough at school. The week before the kids had a day off for election day and a day off for Veterans day. Then we had to have a whole 5 days this past week and we all felt it! Have a wonderful thanksgiving!
That’s true, I guess it was like that for us too. Makes the full week a long one!
It is weird when you get used to the games being on and then there’s a bye or whatever. And you’re reminding me I need to get going with my HoHoHo reads. I’m so behind…
Have a great Thanksgiving!
It is so weird! Of course once again no game today, it will be Monday night football for me. I keep striking out like every other book I pick up for my challenge. I think I’m going to quit the one I just started yesterday too!
Oh, that’s nice you have the whole week off. My daughter, son (at college), and I are off Wednesday – Sunday. My husband took the whole week off. I plan to get my shopping done tomorrow and prep food on Wednesday. We go to my in-laws for dinner, with everyone bringing dishes to pass. I like to veg on Friday, but my friend and I may take our girls to go see Eras (we all went to the concert together).
Happy Thanksgiving!
I still want to see the Taylor Swift concert movie, but haven’t had a chance yet. Maybe this week for me too!
Your dogs are so cute! Enjoy your long Thanksgiving weekend. I remember really looking forward to it back when I was teaching. And you got a great book haul this week—I hope you can read a few of them over the TG holiday!
I think they’re pretty cute lol. I’m working on reading as I can this week, as much as possible!
The pup are so cute. I’m off all week too and just finished my 3rd Ho Ho Ho book. I definitely recommend The Twelve Dogs of Christmas. I hate it when you actually purchase a book and end up DNFing it. Those cookies are so cute. Have a great holiday week!
I’m working on my third Ho Ho Ho, although I’m also listening to an audiobook for one too.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy your break! It sounds like you deserve it. 🙂
I definitely needed it! I hope you have a nice holiday as well!
It’s great that your school is doing SOS training – so important! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving Lisa!
It is an important day for sure! Hope your holiday is nice as well!
Enjoy your week off, Lisa! I also have the week off although I need to prep for my Thanksgiving meal😁
Good luck with all that! I’m sure it will be a nice day!
I your that chill pill! It’s so adorable and what a great idea! And Dora and Argyle are even more adorable. I hope you enjoy your week off, Lisa, and have a happy holiday!
That’s what I thought! Had to buy one. Just wish they’d had it in my school colors, but the high school where the craft show was had the same school colors as the one I work at.
