Fake relationship? As if.
I don’t need a man to complete me, but to get my tubes tied before I turn thirty, I do need a husband.
When the former child TV star turned producing director for the angsty hit drama series currently shooting in my hometown comes to me desperate for a favor, the exchange of my services for his seems like a great idea.
I help him relearn how to drive a car, and he acts as my fiancé for a few doctor’s visits.
What could go wrong?
Bingeing 90’s TV shows like Seinfeld and Beverly Hills 90210 have you jonesing for a time when email and cell phones were strange new things, and an app was something you ate before the first course? Then this slow burn, fake relationship, entertainment biz romantic comedy is just what the doctor ordered. Perfect for fans of Meghan Quinn and Lucy Score seeking all the feels in a sweet and sexy romance.
My Review
I enjoyed going back to the 90s with the setting of this book. The world of this fake relationship also had the extra with characters I’d met in other books in this series. However I did miss out on one book so there were a few things I need to go back and catch up on to make some of what happened a little clearer for some of the side characters. The characters had chemistry for sure, and their situations were ones that fit together perfectly.
I loved the fact that his past was encapsulated by a catch-phrase, one that even worked in perfectly in some situations in real life. Dani’s methods for helping Luke be able to drive again were unique, but worked perfectly. While I wasn’t blown away overall with the story, it was an enjoyable read, and as I said, I do still want to read more of the series to find out what has happened to all these characters in the friend group and those adjacent to them.

Aw this is one of my favorites in the series. They didn’t have the dread miscommunication, although some lack of communication, but when they talked they were honest and vulnerable with each other. I love that. There were some past/current day issues for women incorporated also.
True, I did like that there wasn’t the big miscommunication for the most part.
I love books set in the 1990’s and this one sounds wonderful. Great review Lisa!
You should definitely check out this series!
Glad to h ear this was a good read overall. I like that it’s set in the 90’s. That’s fun!
I do enjoy all the fun look back at the 90s in the series.
I’ve listened to all of the Boston books and the first two in the Carolina books. So, I am waiting for the audiobook for this one, but I’ve been seeing decent reviews. I do love fake relationships and am looking forward to this one. Thanks!
It wasn’t bad, just probably not my favorite of any of her books.
I want to try this author. Great review Lisa!
Definitely you should give her a try!
