Weekly Wrap-Up #94 – November 20th, 2022

Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

Sunday was another Chiefs win. So that made a good day. Although it wasn’t as edge of the seat and I sat and blogged while it was on, so the dogs didn’t get as upset with me.

Got the text from my clerk at 3 am Monday morning that her son was sick again. So I was alone once again. This time I closed the library doors, put a sign out in front of the doors saying it was closed for a half hour, and turned the lights off in the front of the library. Then I sat in my office for my lunch break. I did post a discussion post about bookish dreams on Monday, you should go check it out HERE and share your thoughts! We got our first real “snow storm” Monday night. Here is a picture out my back door.

Tuesday my library clerk was back. I got a bunch more boxes unpacked and I am so close to being done. I only have actually 10 boxes left including my biography books which I hadn’t started yet. I also stopped by my friend’s house to pick up my Christmas present that she wanted to give me early. It was these two adorable dinosaur shirts! She and I both love dinosaurs, she’s the one who took me to the mini-golf place for my birthday last month. I also baked chimichangas with some shredded chicken I’d made on Sunday. And I made the Little Debbie Christmas Tree dip. I have nowhere to take it, I just wanted to try it!

Wednesday I got almost all the rest of the boxes unpacked. I think I had four left at the end of the day. But then I only had two shelves left. So I ended up spending a lot of the day readjusting shelves again to move books so I could fit those boxes on shelves.

Thursday I finally got all my books out on the shelves and it was such a wonderful feeling! That night I had a writing date with one of my friends. And since we hadn’t really had a chance to get together since she went to Book Bonanza with me back in July, we didn’t get much writing done as we had a ton of things to catch up on. I did get a few pages of my novel edited which is what I want to do for NaNoWriMo this year.

Friday it was nice not having to go over and do any work now that all my books are on the shelves! It was also my last day of work until after Thanksgiving, we get the whole next week off!

Saturday was a lovely day to sleep in. It was really cold outside, so that made it nice too. I planned to get up and drive to the other side of the state line, into Overland Park, Kansas, for the big Holiday Mart thing they have every year. I’ve never gone, but always wanted to. I knew it would be busy, but decided to go anyway. However, when I got to the main street for the convention center, people were parked on the street for several blocks away and walking to the center. Now, I got there about 20 minutes after it opened. I didn’t want to park and walk that far by myself. So I just got back on the highway and drove to some other places to do some shopping. Then I went home to enjoy the rest of the day and evening with my dogs. I also posted a DNF Report post today since I hadn’t finished one of the review books I’d planned for this past week.

Books Finished

Read the first one as part of the author’s team for a review on the 15th. Second one was for a blog tour review on the 18th.

New Additions to My Library

ARCs:

None

Audiobooks:

None

Bookish Stuff:

So I saw an ad for this cute ornament on Facebook and it was buy 2 get 1 free. I ordered it. Guess it came from Italy and I got constant shipping status updates showing every step, customs in Italy, customs in the US. But it finally made it. I’ve got one for me and two for gifts! Second are three of the four shirts I ordered from Tara Sivec’s new shop. The Christmas one is a little small. I ordered a size larger because the color I wanted was only available in the women’s fitted shirt. I’ll probably just wear it around the house I guess since a bra under it would be really really snug.

Egalleys:

I got the first one from Netgalley, although I will probably get it for being on the author’s review team or a link to it at some point. The second one I technically got a week or so ago but forgot to mention I think. The author reached out and even though it came out this past week, I told her I could do a promo, but wouldn’t have time to read till December. The third one was for a blog tour that I will be posting my review first week of December.

Free E-books:

The first two were on Amazon, the rest were for signing up for authors’ newsletters.

Physical Books:

I ordered this planner book in the first picture from the NaNoWriMo website. Maybe I’ll use it for my next book. I also loved this shirt, so I bought it. I ordered the winner shirt, even though I probably won’t win, but it’s so pretty! Argyle is peeking at me in the background as I was taking this picture, lol. The second picture has two books I ordered. The first I’ve already read, you can read the review HERE. The second is an author a friend of mine posted about on Facebook, and I think she might be local, but she is a friend of my friend. And she’ll be at the Flirty in Kansas City convention next year, which I bought a ticket for this week. You can also see my other dog Dora peeking behind the books in that picture. Third is my prize I won from Anne at Books of My Heart’s Blogoversary giveaway!

What I’m Watching

Finished watching season one of One of Us is Lying, and started season two, it’s really good! Also all my weekly tv shows and my Chiefs game of course.

Coming Up Next Week on My Blog

The first is one I was supposed to read last week but I got behind on it, so the review should be sometime this week. The second two are e-galley reviews. One for a tour, the second the tour was canceled for, but they still sent the e-galley so I saved it to read during the holidays. The last is for a blog tour review on Saturday. There was another book planned for a tour this week but then the author published it almost a month early, and so don’t think I’ll be getting an e-galley for it. But that’s fine, I need to stop overloading my schedule!

Of course Thanksgiving is coming up this week, and my school district has the whole week off. Hoping to do some NaNoWriMo this week.

Giveaways

Don’t forget that I do now have the nice little box on the right hand sidebar so you can check out giveaways all the time!

  1. It sounds like you’ve had quite a busy week! Very productive at least. My eyebrows rose when you mentioned the writing date, I didn’t know people did this but it’s SUCH a good idea! I’m glad you got some editing done – takes the pressure off a bit.
There’s so many good-looking books here, I liked the title “Fake dating my best friends brother”, that made me laugh lol. That’s a story unto itself, right? Enjoy your books xx

Having writing dates was the way I first finished NaNoWriMo ever and actually finished the book in that time too, lol. Yeah, that title grabbed me for sure. Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I’m looking forward to lots of sleeping in time! And reading and actual lunches. Well, other than two little dogs pestering me while I eat. The snow didn’t last, it was pretty much all gone by the end of the day, lol. But it is still really cold! Thanks for visiting!

  2. I love the dinosaur shirt, especially that first one! And One Of Us Is Lying is sooo good. I had a show hangover after I watched it, nothing else really appealed to me ha ha.

    Have a nice Thanksgiving!!! 🙂

That ending of the first season of One of Us is Lying was so good! But so is the start of the second season! Thanks for visiting!

  3. “Although it wasn’t as edge of the seat and I sat and blogged while it was on, so the dogs didn’t get as upset with me.” — Hahahaha.

I glad you shut the library down for a quick lunch break. Everybody deserves to eat their meals in peace and quiet! (Says the person who works from home and eats all her meals while working. Ha ha.)

Love the dinosaur shirts, especially the blue one! Baked chimis!!! Yum! I don’t need a recipe for the filling, but what temperature and for how long, please.

Congrats on getting all your books on the shelves and for getting the week off work!

They should provide a shuttle for that Holiday Mart!

I love the bookish stuff you got recently and I do see Argyle photobombing the planner pic! Too cute!

    Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Hmm, I can’t find my recipe that I’d printed out for the chimichangas, but I remember it was 350 degrees, and I think it was 20 minutes on one side, then turned over and 20 minutes on the other side. I think that’s right! It might have been 15 minutes not 20 though. Yeah, but lots of people go every year to the Holiday Mart, so I guess they don’t worry about it! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks! So far I’m enjoying it. Your chilly is probably my favorite type of weather, lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, and it seems the crowds are out sooner this year! Which is why I’m getting out because I know last year things were gone at the time I had always in the past done shopping. Thanks for visiting!
