Weekly Wrap-Up #91 – October 30th, 2022

Posted October 30, 2022 by Lisa Mandina in Weekly Wrap Up / 30 Comments

Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

Can you believe there is only one more day of October? Halloween is on a weeknight unfortunately. Means should be interesting for both the kids who want to go as well as the next day at school for the teachers.

Last Sunday was my 50th birthday celebration at my mom’s house with my family. If you saw my post last week, you saw my fun trip to the dinosaur mini-golf place. Well my family party was dinosaur themed as well. It was a bit my 4 year old nephew’s idea since he knows I love dinosaurs and tacos. We had tacos for dinner and the theme was “Tacosaurus”. lol Here are some pics of the decorations!

Monday I wore jeans and a t-shirt and got back to unpacking boxes and trying to get my nonfiction section done. Still got a lot to do, didn’t get as much done as I wanted. Planned to do the same on Tuesday.

Tuesday same thing, but didn’t get it all unpacked. Ugh. I planned to dress up on Wednesday and Thursday, so wouldn’t get anymore unpacking done during conferences.

Wednesday was our usual half day with students, then we had parent conferences from 1:15-6:30pm. I had a friend go over and let my dogs out while I was there, and when she was leaving she couldn’t get my door to lock. I’ve got one of those keypad locks, and the batteries might be dead on it. Ugh. Fortunately my stepdad and mom were able to come meet her at my house and get it to lock. I wasn’t going to be home for another 2 hours after she left.

Oh my gosh, Thursday was sooooooooo long! I should have gone ahead and worn jeans and a tshirt and worked on getting books back on the shelves, the 800s-900s of the Deweys that I need to finish as well as the Biography books. But we did get our first shipment of books in and I did get those entered into the system and started working on labeling them with genres. Also had a representative from Follett come meet with me about wanting to genrefy my library. For the most part I didn’t really need him to help, but he did show me something the company does that will help in the long run.

Friday was heavenly to get to sleep in and not have to work. Spent most of the day at home reading and blogging. Ran a few errands, caught up on tv I hadn’t been able to watch earlier in the week because of late nights at work. I also ordered some chocolates from Christopher Elbow that arrived on Friday which was National Chocolate day.

Saturday I got to sleep in. Did some more blogging, finished up a review post for the day and one for Monday. Went to see a movie. I’d been starting to get a bit of a sore throat as the day went on, so I took a Covid test when I got home. It was negative. Later that night I noticed my temp went up a little when I hadn’t had one before. So I will have to check again on Sunday to make sure it’s not Covid.

Books Finished

First was inished and posted a review for the blog tour on Wednesday. The second was an audiobook I listened to for the Gateway committee I’m on. Should be reviewing it in a L-L-L-Little reviews post coming up. Third was an e-galley I got this week and got finished to post my review on Friday. Fourth book was an ARC I got from the publisher that I finished and posted my review on Saturday.

New Additions to My Library

ARCs:

None

Audiobooks:

Got this one from the library to listen to for the committee I’m on.

Bookish Stuff:

Lauren from Shooting Stars Mag blog posted about these Butterbeer gummies on her TikTok and so I HAD to find and try them. Unfortunately I was just not that impressed.

One of my favorite authors, Tara Sivec, started making some stuff for sale again, and I got sucked in to buy a t-shirt. Of course she keeps adding stuff and now I want more!

E-galleys:

The first one is for a blog tour in December. The second was a PDF e-galley from the publisher for a book that comes out in February. I’ve requested a physical ARC if I can get one because I love that author! The third one was a last minute postponed book from this summer. I got it Tuesday and posted my review on Friday. The fourth one was for a blog tour review in November. The last one is for a blog tour in January actually!

Free E-books:

This was free on Amazon.

Physical books:

So I might have gone a bit crazy with a bit of birthday money I had, and the fact I’d overpaid one of my credit card balances when I paid it off, so I figured I’d use the overage amount to buy books? lol It started with these two books. I’ve already read them, but wanted copies for my shelves.

Next were a couple more of the Helena Hunting Pucked series with new covers. I guess I’ve decided to collect the first one in all the versions, and then I didn’t have a copy of Pucked Love at all yet. Then I am going to end up with this whole series by Teagan Hunter with the alternate copies. Just waiting for the last one to be available!

Then Amy Daws posted pics of her Wait With Me series with new covers and I had to buy those.

And finally, I’ve been buying the Sara Ney alternate covers, here are all the ones I got this week plus the one from last week. For some reason I guess I forgot to get the 3rd book so I’m missing one.

And I went to Barnes & Noble to try to get one of the manga titles that we’re missing the very first one and I can’t seem to order it. Well, one of the employees I’m still friends with had been asking me lately if I was sure I wouldn’t come back and work part time. I saw a sign on their door saying temporary hours because of being short staffed and they’re now closing at 7 pm every night I think! Crazy! But anyway, since I ended up getting one of the manga I wanted, but not the other, I couldn’t help myself from buying myself a book, the Tom Felton biography below.

What I’m Watching

Of course all the same shows I’m always watching! Friday night the sequel to Jennifer L. Armentrout’s book Wicked, Torn had it’s movie released on Passionflix and so I watched that. I still feel the same about the acting in it, the guy who plays Ren just reminds me of the stereotypical model who gets hired for his looks but can’t really act. And there’s just something about his face that I don’t care for either. I mean it was still fun to watch a movie of a favorite book, even if it wasn’t as good as I hoped, because that’s usually how it is with any book to movie. But I loved the scenes of New Orleans and of course Tink!

Saturday I went and saw the movie Till. A friend that I go to the movies with sometimes said she didn’t want to see it because it would be too hard to watch. I get that, but that is why I feel like it is important to watch it.

Coming Up Next Week on My Blog

Hmm, I might have overbooked myself once again. The first one I won through Bookish First I think. The 2nd and 3rd are SmartyPants Romance titles for the blog tour this week, I’m currently reading the 2nd one. And the last is an ARC I got from the publisher. I may not actually get it posted till next Sunday.

Giveaways

Don’t forget that I do now have the nice little box on the right hand sidebar so you can check out giveaways all the time!

Hoping I’m able to go. My sore throat and cough seem to be going away and I’ve had to negative Covid tests, so I hope to be able to watch my niece and nephew trick or treat.

I had a second negative covid test today and am feeling a little better. But we’ll see. I have a feeling I might be alone in the library Monday, so it might behoove me to stay home and rest. We’ll see! I don’t buy digital. I get the freebies or read e-galleys. I will really only pay for physical or audiobooks.

  1. Oh my gosh I love that Jurassic Park ish crate. Hope you had a fab birthday! Dinos are an awesome theme. 🙂 Isn’t it too bad there isn’t really a Jurassic PArk we could go to? I mean, it would be sooo expensive, and safety concerns ha- but still… 🙂

    Wait For Me looks good.

I watched Fall and oh my gosh if you’re scared of heights that movie is TERRIFYING. Several times I had to get up and move away lol.

The Jurassic Park thing was just a little cardboard thing, but it was still fun! And yeah, I’d go to a real Jurassic Park if I could afford it, lol. I saw a few previews of Fall, wasn’t sure, but I’ll give it a try if you said it was good!

Thanks! It’s not starting out great with being a little sick, but otherwise we’ll see how it goes! Glad you could stop by.

Fortunately I’ve read all the books I bought, so it’s not like I’ve added to my TBR, lol. Thanks for visiting!

  2. That’s so fun that your nephew decided on the theme for your birthday party! I love the “tacosaurus” theme. It’s so fun! 😀 I hope your birthday was a good one for you! Thank you for stopping by my blog today and good luck with NaNo this week!

Christopher Elbow chocolates are so pretty and most of them really good! There are a few flavors I’m not a fan of though in the fancy ones. Thanks for visiting!

Yeah, I get that a lot of people don’t like the theaters anymore. I still love to go, but am getting lazy about not wanting to leave my house once I’m home from work these days, lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Happy belated birthday! Love the tacosaurus theme. 🙂 I sure hope you’re not getting sick, but the sore throat and the rising temp are concerning. It’s fun to see that Kylie Scott is still adding to the Stage Dive world. That was such a fun series. I still haven’t watched Wicked but I did see that Torn released. I’m so curious about the adaptation. I’m just hesitant to pay for another streaming service.

Yes, I love the Stage Dive series so much! Yeah, I didn’t want to pay for Passionflix, but I did have to watch the Driven series, and then there was the Tara Sivec movie, and I was really excited for Wicked when it came out, even if it didn’t live up to my hopes. I get it through my Amazon Prime. Keep meaning to cancel and then forgetting.
