Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Now coming up at the end of this week is my 50th birthday!
Sunday I once again spent just kind of hanging out around my house. I’ve gotten in a bit of a routine it seems at ordering Chipotle to be delivered for my Sunday lunch, lol. Then I have leftovers because I only eat half the bowl. And I order the large chips and queso and save half of that as well. I was tired from the busy day on Saturday, and also had driven around a lot the last two days, so decided to try to save gas money and just stay home. I’d thought about going to get some Crumbl cookies, but they didn’t have up what the new week choices were, and I didn’t really want anything they had last week. I mean their sugar cookies are okay, but not my favorites. I also had some reading to catch up on from being busy all day on Saturday. I also did some blogging and going around and commenting.
I got a few more boxes unpacked in the library on Monday. Then I realized I had probably packed the shelves at the beginning of nonfiction more full than they needed to be and I would have a bunch of empty shelves at the end that way. So I decided to go back and try to re-space them. And that’s where I left off. Monday night was a Kansas City Chiefs game. A close one! But we won!
Tuesday I only unpacked like one more box, but then I was also moving all the shelves I’d already loaded to try to get things more like they should be and fill out all the shelves. I didn’t finish. My stepdad had the biopsy on his liver today to see what the cancer that has spread and how bad it is. Waiting for results.
Wednesday they had testing in the library and it was kind of disorganized and crazy. It was our usual half day of the week where we have meetings in the afternoon after the students go home about an hour and a half early. This week though the district decided they are going to start these wellness days and let us just have the last part of the day to go home. I didn’t get to go home right away because my dogs were with my friend who had them getting some blood drawn as part of a scientific research study. But we got home and just relaxed with the wonderful night of tv. I did get another big box of books, this time from Penguin publishers, for the library committee I’m on.
Thursday they had the seniors take their cap and gown pictures, in the auditorium this year. But they took my library clerk to go down and write passes all day for the students. Grr. So I got nothing else done in unpacking for the day.
Friday turned into another waste of a day. Besides the fact that I was tired and didn’t really feel like doing much anyway, they were doing picture retakes for IDs, so all students except most seniors. Then right after my lunch break, they took my clerk to go help with a grade celebration for students.
Saturday was a lovely day for sleeping in. I’ve had to turn the heater on at night, not that it runs a lot since I like it cooler for sleeping. I also got another box, actually two boxes of books, from a publisher, for my library committee. Hung around the house all day waiting for it to arrive. Once it did, then I didn’t feel like leaving the house or getting dressed, lol, so I just stayed home and read and watched the Back to the Future movie marathon on tv.
Books Finished
I am on the author’s review team for the first one, plus I signed up to be part of a release blitz. I love Meghan Quinn. And this one was a blast as expected! Second was an audiobook, which I also bought the physical book when I renewed my Book of the Month Membership. The third book was an ARC I got back at Book Bonanza in July, and then the publisher sent me an ARC again last month. I’m giving the extra copy away on my review post, go check it out! The fourth book was a SmartyPants Romance title that I’ll be posting my review for this coming Wednesday as part of the tour.
New Additions to My Library
ARCs:
None
Audiobooks:
Got this one from the library as a download. It’s for the library committee I’m on.
Bookish Stuff:
None
E-galleys:
Hoping I’ve already got the first one read by now. The second one is for a blog tour review on Thursday. The third one is for another author team I’m on, but I was emailed by the author review team I’m on that they never received my Amazon review for the last book. So I realized Amazon hadn’t sent me my review update yet and went to make sure it was there. It was, so I sent it on and I got it. This will be a review at the beginning of November I think.
Free E-books:
The first four were free on Amazon, the first three of those part of a week long freebie deal with some authors I belong to their newsletters. The second one is the sequel to a book I read and enjoyed a little while ago, It Was All the Pie’s Fault. All the rest were free novellas through the Prolific Works website.
Physical books:
I’ve already read and loved this series by Sara Ney, but when someone in the Facebook group showed a picture of their copy of this with the different cover than the original, I knew I had to own this one! I’ll probably eventually collect all of them!
Now I haven’t bought any of the other illustrated editions of the series, but this one said if you pre-ordered from B&N you’d be entered for a trip to see The Cursed Child on stage in NYC, and I realllllly want to see it!
These are the books I got from Penguin. Very excited for several that I’d wanted to read earlier in the year!
These are the books that Simon & Schuster sent for the library committee I’m on. The first stack, all except the one on top, I’ve already read. The two laying in the front won’t be eligible for the award because one is nonfiction, and the other isn’t a 2022 pub date really.
What I’m Watching
Still enjoying all my same shows that are back on. Also trying to work through all the different Netflix series that I keep starting then for some reason not finishing. Tried out the new Supernatural prequel series, The Winchesters. I really liked it so far! The actor playing John Winchester looks and does little smiles and talks like Jared Padalecki, although the actor who played the dad on the original show doesn’t look like that, I like him. Not sure on the actress who is playing Mary yet though.
I also decided to watch My Best Friend’s Exorcism Saturday night. It was really good I thought! Loved the music and it was funny. I haven’t read the book, but have enjoyed other books by the author.
Coming Up Next Week on My Blog
So yeah, I kind of doubt I’m going to get all of these done this week! Ugh! I’m so behind! Three of the books I said I would get to last week I did not. They were ones I got from Bookish First, not ARCs, but finished copies. Most likely the ones that will not get finished this week are the second and last one. The others are all for review teams or tours.
I’ve also got a blitz for Wednesday for a book called Queen of Hearts by Whitney Dineen.
Giveaways
Don’t forget that I do now have the nice little box on the right hand sidebar so you can check out giveaways all the time!
- Fall 2022 Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop – This giveaway runs till December!
- The Looooong and the Short of It with a Giveaway: September Wrap-Up Post and What to Expect in October – Last month’s got over 100 entries so I picked up two winners from that one, and I’ll do the same if this month gets over 100 entries!
Final Thoughts
How was your week? Did you read or watch anything good? Get any good books? Have anything exciting coming up this week? This week’s picture of my dogs is how they guard the house and sometimes occupy themselves while I’m blogging. This is my view of them from my desk as I type this.
Happy early birthday! Quite an impressive book haul.
Thanks! Of course most of the books are for donating to my school and that committee I’m on, but still a lot of books!
There are so many rom coms that I’d like to read. I don’t recognize any of yours, but I wish I could get them too, lol. Have a good week.
Yep, so many books, and not enough time! My life motto, lol.
Nice new reads! Lots of totally new to me ones here but a few that are familiar! I’m always amazed at how many free ebooks people find every week! I guess because I’m not an ebook person I don’t go looking for them!
I hope you enjoy all your wonderful new reads! So many new to me ones here! Happy Reading!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Yeah, I get emails with free ebooks, usually author emails. I prefer physical copies, I rarely if EVER buy an ebook. But since some of my current favorite authors I found through free ebooks, I just hate to not download when I can. Of course I have no idea when/if I’ll ever get to any of these, lol.
I hope you get the rest of the boxes sorted. How annoying that your clerk kept getting taken. I love the Harry Potter illustrated series. We’ve only got Tales of Beedle the Bard but I would like to get the rest at some point. I want to go and see The Cursed Child in London but it is so expensive and we have a 4 year old so we won’t be going to the Theatre any time soon!
Have a good week.

I want to see the play so bad, but I think it’s only in NYC in America of course. If I don’t win, which I’m sure I won’t, I will just have to wait for the day it maybe travels the country like Hamilton did eventually.
I hope you have an awesome birthday week! This week I received my playing cards for my Aces Wild library purchase request and was approved to read Eight Hours of Flirting on Netgalley (so far I’m enjoying it).
Ooh, cool playing cards! Those are some good books. Looking forward to when I have time to read those too!
Looks like a great book week for you! ♥️ Happy early birthday too!!
Thank you! Yeah, lots of good books, who knows when I’ll get to reading them all or if!
Happy birthday!! I hope you get some Crumbl cookies!
Oh, I’ll probably buy Crumbl cookies for myself, lol. I like actual cake with frosting, prefer wedding cake if possible, even for my birthday. 🙂
I hope you have a great birthday week! I love the photo of your dogs looking out the window. It’s so cute!
Thanks! Although it’s rare to catch them both sitting there and not staring at me trying to get me to quit working on the computer, lol.
Happy birthday this week!!! Chipotle sounds really good right now ha ha. And best of luck t your stepdad- I hope he gets good news.
What a great mix of books!
Thank you! Chipotle is always good, lol.
I love seeing your dogs watching. It sounds like a pretty normal week but with some extra relaxing and reading. It’s weird your school lets out early every Wednesday. I can’t imagine how they juggle the bus schedule for that. I finally caught up on my reviews this week and it feels awesome.
It’s the whole district that gets out early for meetings, so they have a different bus schedule every Wednesday for that. Now because the elementary and middle schools start later, they also let out later than we do at the high school level. Yay for being caught up on reviews! I am a bit behind on that and reading!
It sounds like this week was a mix of good and bad with more good in it. I’m glad you did. I’m glad the Chiefs won as well and that it was an exciting game. 😀 Sorry you’re still having some library woes. I hope you have a good week!
Yeah, good and bad, but overall good. Of course my Chiefs lost tonight, so that was a bit of a bummer start to the week.
I love Chipotle! And yay for leftovers. Your dogs look like they’re doing a good job guarding the house😁 Have a good week, Lisa!
They think they are doing a good job, and that’s what’s important, lol.
Sounds like a busy week! I’ve never heard of a publisher/publicist emailing because they didn’t see you put up your review on Amazon.
It was through a tour group, not the publisher emailing about the review. 🙂

I like Crumbl cookies and they recently opened a location right around the corner from me. The lines are still out the door, though, so I’ll wait till that dies down. It must be so frustrating how the school is forever pulling your assistant away. So cool to get the alternate cover for the Ney book!
I wonder if the Crumbl location by me is doing very good, because I never have to wait in much of a line compared to what I hear about everywhere else. Yeah, I either lose my assistant to somewhere else in the building, or she’s out sick or someone in her family. That’s I guess what I will be dealing with at this job.
Arranging and rearranging shelves can take so much time! Also I love that pic of your dogs!
It does take a lot of time, but strangely, I actually don’t mind it. lol I do adore my dogs too!
I love dogs. <3 Seeing your dogs there is just so cute. I was away over the weekend with friends at the NY Sheep and Wool Festival, so that was out of the norm for me. Seems like you spent the week unpacking boxes when you could! I guess that's a usual job in a library. 🙂
Well that sounds like an interesting festival!! Unpacking is a little different than normal this year because I had to completely pack up over the summer and so I still don’t have all the books back out on the shelves.
Happy birthday week!
Ooo I miss Chipotle. It’s been over 6 years since I last lived near a Chipotle. Wahhhhhhhhhh. I miss the corn salsa, the guacamole, the steak…
All the best to your stepdad waiting on results!
Oh no! I just had Chipotle for dinner tonight, I would miss it! Thanks for visiting, and we got results on what the cancer was, now just waiting to hear what treatments he can do.
