And it’s been over a year now since my last Discussion post. Once again though, something happened that I wanted to see if I was the only one. Even thought I’m not part of a challenge, I’m going to link up over on Feed Your Fiction Addiction.
So the title of this might be a bit misleading. I’m not saying I lie about how I feel in my reviews or about the books. BUT, there are occasionally, rarely, but occasionally times when I run out of time to finish a book before I have to post the review for a blog tour and I go ahead and review it even not having finished the book. There, I said it, it’s out there.
To be honest in this post with a title about lying, I almost always go back and finish the book, and my review/rating is never any different than it was when I reviewed a bit early. If I don’t think I’m going to finish a book these days for sure, it is usually because I’m not enjoying it at all. In that case I will reach out to the publisher or maybe the blog tour organizer and ask to just do a promo post instead.
So, I guess what I’m wanting to get some answers on is if anyone else has ever posted a review before they completely finished a book? If not, does it make me a terrible person for having done that? I’ve done it twice this year. Both times I just couldn’t get the reading finished before I went to bed and the post had to be up by 8 am the next morning. So I wrote the review, and then finished the last usually 20% or less of the book the next day.
I feel really guilty when I do this, because I don’t feel like people should rate a book if they didn’t read it. So is that what I’m doing? Do you guys all think less of me now? Not want to read my reviews?
And because the song has been stuck in my head since I started thinking about this post, I’ll share the video below.
