Weekly Wrap-Up #66 – May 8th, 2022

Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer) and with Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Reading Reality).

Monday was kind of quiet in the library. Since it is Teacher Appreciation Week and we’d basically closed the library last week and this week for EOC testing, and there really weren’t any today, the administrators used the library to get together little goodie bags for all the teachers. And actually they’re kind of doing staff appreciation day I guess, because my library clerk got a little bag as well. There was also cake in the staff lounge. We also had a different theme for each day, kind of a teacher spirit week. Monday was Zoom dress – business on top, pj pants below. lol I actually was able to dress up for that easily. Here is my outfit.

Tuesdays theme was beach/vacation dress, school appropriate of course. We also got bagels from Panera. I had my favorite asiago in the morning. Then I thought I’d go check about lunch time if there were any left, and I grabbed a cinnamon one. I should not have eaten that too! I always eat too much food during Teacher Appreciation week. Here is my outfit for Tuesday.

Wednesday wasn’t as great a day for me to dress up, it was nautical or fishing day. I didn’t think about the fishing part or I could have borrowed something from my stepdad. Instead all I had was a tshirt with a boat on the back and that’s what I wore. We got spoiled again at school. The admin cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs for us, and we also had cake and got a cool little backpack/foot rest thing. Oh and they had the ice cream truck come by and we got to pick something from the truck. I was already full by that time, but I got mine and put it in the freezer in my office to have tomorrow! Here is the backpack/foot rest that I’ve been keeping under my desk for now since my chair is so high!

Thursday’s theme was Livin’ La Vida Loca in honor of Cinco de Mayo, and we did mismatch day for loca! Our admin had a taco bar catered in for us for our lunch from a local Mexican restaurant. Here is my outfit for the day:

Friday was just wearing spirit wear. We had been playing bingo all week and I finally got a bingo on Friday, so I got a bag of goodies. Of course the day started off crazy, a really bad fight happened and my clerk heard on the walkie talkie we have in the library that they needed help, so she went out to help. It sounds like one of the assistant principals got shoved and may have hurt her wrist, possibly broken. She was gone the rest of the day. While they had a get together at a local restaurant/bar after school for the teachers, I had already gotten a ticket to go see the new Doctor Strange movie, so that is what I did.

Saturday we celebrated my brother’s birthday. My 10 year old niece made another delicious and beautiful, professional looking chocolate cake for him. I forgot to take a picture of it though.

Books Finished

Now this first one was started in April and I’d hoped to finish it, but then I couldn’t stay up last Saturday night long enough to finish it. It was good, but not exciting enough to keep me reading when I got sleepy, posted my review of it this past week. Second was another great read from Sara Ney, also posted review last week. Third was the final in the SWS series by Piper Sheldon for a blog tour review this past week. The last book was another SmartyPants book, and I loved it! May end up being one of my favorites of the year! Look for its review on Monday.

New Additions to My Library

ARCs:

Got a box of ARCs from Sourcebook Fire on Monday. The Rachel Griffin one I’ll probably see if I can trade since I didn’t enjoy her first book. And I’m going to give the Rin Chupeco book a try even though I’ve tried two of her other books and couldn’t get into them. But this one just sounds sooooooooo good!

Audiobooks:

Got this with my monthly Audible credit. I’ve been wanting to read this series. Just now realizing they each have different authors! The two narrators on this are both supposed to be at Book Bonanza this July, so I’d like to meet them too!

Bookish Stuff:

None

E-galleys:

Looking forward to reading these! Love how the first three kind of match color-wise! The last one I want to read, but with the so-so on the last two by this author, and how packed my May schedule is, I’m debating letting them know I won’t be able to fit it in. But I really want to!

Free E-books:

The first one was the monthly book for the Girls Night In book club. The second one was part of the Amazon Prime first reads where you get to pick a free book. I’ll be honest that I haven’t read any of those that I’ve picked yet. oops. The last two were also free on Amazon.

Physical Books:

Already have the ARC of this, and am reading for a blog tour. But the publisher was sending the finished copies to all on the tour. I’ll be adding this to my school library!

Another book from the publisher for a RockStar book tour. They also sent the e-galley. I’ll be reading this in a bit for the tour!

What I’m Watching

I tried watching WandaVision, but like the What If ? Marvel series, I just don’t know that it’s really something I’ll continue. The first episode, I get the humor and the old fashioned, but eh. However after seeing the new Doctor Strange movie, I think I might have to go ahead and give it a chance. Really liked the new movie!

The last episode of this season of Outlander was such a cliffhanger! I hate that it was only 8 episodes. I need to remember to cancel Starz now that it is over. Also continuing to rewatch Stranger Things.

Giveaways to Enter

  1. I taught for more than a decade and never had such a wonderful teacher appreciation celebration as you. That’s awesome. I think my favorite theme was Zoom meeting. Hilarious.

We’ve had some really good ones at my other schools, but this year I think we’ve been a bit spoiled because they’re trying to keep those they have as more and more teachers leave due to the craziness! Yeah, the zoom meeting was the most fun to do too!

Wow! That’s all? That’s crazy! I assumed more schools would go all out for their teachers trying to keep them. 🙁

  2. Spirit week sounds fun. 🙂 And sounds like you had some yummy food at school last week.

I heard Dr. Strange was really good but I wasn’t a huge fan of WandaVision.

I really liked the movie. Yeah, I feel like if I have time I’ll go back and give WandaVision another try to get the parts that relate to the movie, but otherwise I’ll not rush because it was a little too out there for me.

Yeah, that is one thing I know I am pretty lucky. My admin at least does a lot for us. Even if there is so much they have to ask us to do extra because of how things are these days.

Our admin did a lot for us. I don’t know that we really got much from parents, but then again, high school is different that way. Not sure how big of a PTA group we have at this school, since I’ve only been there a year so far, and it’s been pandemic stuff still going on.

It was a nice week and very much felt appreciated by our admin, at least for the week!

It’s nice when you feel seen by your bosses in a good way. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh fun! I love the Zoom-day wear! That’s a funny idea! Lol. Sounds like you had a good week at school!

Nice new reads too! Some new to me ones for the most part! I also got my finished copy of Dig Two Graves and I can’t wait to add it to my shelves. Hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

Yeah, I thought that was such a fun idea! Normally pajama day is my favorite, but this was kind of a fun way to do that. Thanks for visiting!
