Blurb:

“You got married on your divorce-cation?”

That would unfortunately be correct.

I was hanging with the girls, celebrating my divorce when I saw him, my crush, sitting in the corner of the bar all alone. Being single and looking for a wild night, I asked him if he wanted to join me. To my delight, he said yes.

Drinks were consumed, fun was had and then . . . one drunken conversation with a cranky gondolier in Las Vegas led to an Uber lift through a drive-thru wedding chapel with the incredibly hot, British bad boy, Pike Greyson.

On paper, it seemed like I hit the jackpot. And if I wasn’t fresh from a toxic marriage, I would have absolutely noticed the finer things about him.

But I wanted nothing to do with being married, so when I arrived back home from my eventful weekend in Vegas, the last thing I expected to see was a new doting husband already moved in.

I asked for an annulment, he pulled a Ross Geller and said no.

That’s right, he said NO! Instead, he asked for three months to prove we could be good together.

Insanity clearly knocked him in the head and the only way I could convince him to give up on our sham of a marriage was to show him just how wrong we were for each other. Only problem with that was, he saw right through my every prank, every trick, and every yearning emotion I attempted to mask.

My Review:

As all books by Meghan Quinn do, this one had me laughing after barely starting. It had me not wanting to put it down, even thinking of how I might be able to get away continuing to read even after my lunch break was over at work. But alas, even though it was a Friday at work and I am a librarian, I did not give into my temptation to read. However I then spent my Friday night reading!

Things I loved about this hilarious fake-marriage story from Meghan Quinn include the hilarious phone call that they made to Pike’s brother while they were drunk in Vegas. Some of the most awkward conversations, like: “You know what they say, your clit, your name.” The texting conversations between the girls, with statements like: “Keep all the dicks in your mouth.” Yeah, there’s a total context missing, but even in the context of that conversation it was hilarious. And all the build up of the sexual tension between Pike and Cora was sooooooo hot! When they finally started giving in, man, I was fanning myself so much!

The part that I was reading on my lunch break was like halfway through and boy did it have me ready to cry! It was only about halfway through the book, so I knew there would be good times coming to make up for it, but I had to wait, and it was such an emotional part! But once I got past that, they got one of the speed bumps in their fake relationship overcome. And I was so happy for that and it made up for the angst I suffered through while I was waiting half a work day to finish it.

But the few issues with the book that I had include Pike not telling her when he had the chance why he wanted to stay married at first. I’m sure she would have understood and they could still have given it all a chance with her knowing. And the only other thing that made me mark it down to 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars on my blog was that it seemed a little long at certain times. But don’t take any of these issues I had as things that take away from the wonderful story this is. Because I am still thinking about it and loving it even after having finished it and moved on to my next read. Oh, one other thing that bothered me a little, do British people call their fathers “Pa”? I don’t feel like I’ve ever heard that in anything that I’ve seen or read about that culture. It really made me feel more like I was in a country-ish type of story, or Little House on the Prairie, when I read that.
