Weekly Wrap-Up #27

Once again I’ll be linking this up with the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

I skipped this post last week since I did my Monthly Wrap-Up on Sunday. So this weekly wrap-up will include a few things from the last two weeks.

Monday was my last day of my summer break. On Tuesday I started my new library job! Yay! Since my contract begins 10 days before all the teachers come back, it meant I was also about 5 days before even the new to the district teacher meetings as well. So there are only so many things I can do. One of those things though, is getting displays and kind of the fun stuff done, as well as organizing and getting myself familiarized with my new library and the office staff. I also have a library aide. Here are some pictures of my new library, the first few are when I first got there, so it is kind of still a mess in those pictures.

Really most of this week was getting settled in as much as I could this week at my new job, next week will start new teacher meetings. Although Monday and Tuesday I’m going to be working registration so I’ll start to get to meet some students I guess!

My city just reinstated a mask mandate, and at first my school district was just going to have those non-vaccinated wear a mask if they wanted. But they’ve since changed it and for now we have to wear masks inside unless you are in a group where everyone is vaccinated.

Books finished this week:

Not as many, I had one book I thought I was supposed to review never show up, so then I pulled out a book for my TBR Challenge and read that.

New Books:

I couldn’t help myself, one of the books that I had trouble reading as an e-galley, I decided to run out and purchase the physical copy, but only if the footnotes were going to be at the bottom of the page like they were supposed to be. And they were, so I bought Fresh by Margot Wood. I also got my Book of the Month book for August because they finally had a book I wanted! I’ve only read the first book in this series, but I do own an ARC of the 2nd one, and now I’ll have the third one ready to go. Plus, I had reached the whole BOTM BFF a couple months ago, but since I skipped getting books those months, I just now got the cool tote bag with my book!

I did order some stickers that I saw someone on TikTok had and I had to have. This is just a few of the ones I really liked out of like 100 stickers in the package for $5!

ARCs for Review:

Only got one physical ARC, and technically I won it from a Goodreads giveaway, but it did come from the publisher. Here is the Instagram picture I did for it.

E-galleys for Review:

I am so excited for Red Velvet. It is the sequel to one of my favorite books this summer, Blue Hawaiian.

Free e-books:

Life, Unscheduled was my Amazon First Read I think. For the boxed set, I have read the first two in the series, but not the last one, Spider, so I had to go ahead and get the boxed set just for that. And finally is a free very short audiobook from Penny Reid! I’ve got all of them in the series so far, but just decided to screenshot the cover so I could add it to this post.

What I’m Binge Watching:

Most of the same shows I talked about last time I did one of these posts, but I finished up the second season of Never Have I Ever, and oh my gosh, it was soooooooooo good! I wish there were more! I’m also catching up on the American Horror Stories. I really liked the one that was set at a Drive-In movie, and I also watched the reality tv show/Santa one – which wasn’t bad.

And I finished watching the last two Fear Street movies. I liked both of them, especially the final one, better than the first.

I also started Cruel Summer.

Last Week’s Posts:

Reviews: The Wild Ones by Nafiza Azad and How Moon Fuentez Fell in Love with the Universe by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland.

Promo Posts: Book Blitz with Giveaway: Never Fall For Your Back-Up Guy (It’s Complicated #1) by Kate O’Keeffe and Cover Reveal: My Ten Year Crush by Olivia Spring.

Giveaways:

Final Thoughts:

Next week, Tuesday to be exact, will be my 12th Blogoversary. I have no idea what I’m going to do yet. But I will do something, and it will include a giveaway! So make sure to check back all week to see when I post it and help me celebrate! How was your week? Did you get any good books? Are you binging any tv series you’d recommend?

So far so good. But I know it is the honeymoon stage right now and there will be trials and tribulations to come! lol

  1. I also have only Spider to read in the boxed set. Wish I had seen when that was free. Your library looks great. I hope you have an amazing school year!

Oh no! Sorry you didn’t get that one when it was free. Thanks, I can’t wait for the year to get going!

Wow! You are back quick! Our kids don’t come back for another two weeks. Have a great first week back!

  2. Nice pics! Hope the school year starts off well. I see a lot of mask mandates coming back with all the Delta chaos but our district so far is still mask optional. We’ll see if that changes.

Hope your reads are all good this week 🙂

  3. It’s so exciting to see and hear about your new library. Covid seems to be raging again so we are masking everywhere but home, but we did that even after we were vaccinated. I think we will try to minimize going out again too.

I also got the Heart Principle and look forward to reading it in the next couple weeks. I’ve read the other books and really enjoyed them.

I have a feeling the Heart Principle will be sitting on my TBR bookcase for a while since I haven’t read the second book yet. But maybe that will make me pick up the second book sooner rather than later! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Your library looks so cool! I imagine it’s fun to set up the displays and all that.
Happy blogoversary month! I’m still trying to figure out how I want to celebrate this month too. haha

I love doing displays, but I think my assistant does too, so we are going to split them for now. I had an idea then my power went out Tuesday night and I didn’t get to do my post. So I think I’ll do it as my weekly wrap-up this weekend. Happy blogoversary to you too!

Looks like a pretty nice library. The walls look a bit spare and grey–maybe some Italian Renaissance frescoes would enliven the place!
