Weekly Wrap-Up #15

Once again I’ll be linking this up with both Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality) and the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

So this week was a little better, but also still pretty busy! We had classes coming into the library again to check out books, so that made for a busy week in the library, also meant that I didn’t really get much if any inventory done. And I’m so close to being done! Just need to finish the 900s in the Deweys and also the reference section I think.

The school board of the school district I’ll be working in next year had their meeting and approved my hiring this past Monday, and then on Tuesday I got an electronic contract to sign and it is now official as I’ve turned in my resignation for next school year that I’ll no longer be working in my current library. While I’m a little sad and will miss some things, I am also excited, and looking forward to being THE librarian, and being able to kind of make the decisions more like when it was MY classroom and I didn’t have to co-decide anything.

I saw a new doctor finally. My one that I’d had for a long time retired suddenly in December, but I didn’t find out till January. I had some prescriptions that were going to need to be renewed soon, so I scheduled an appointment. So far I like her. We’ll see!

No writing whatsoever still. I did get my one YA novel back from the beta read that I got from a charity auction. And I really am happy with what they said. While they gave it a 3.5 star rating, that makes me happy. I guess I set my bar low on what people think of my writing. lol. But now I want to polish up their suggestions and then maybe try sending out to agents.

Oh yeah, I think I told you guys about how a few months ago the house across the street from me caught on fire in the middle of the night. A couple weeks ago they finally condemned it. On Wednesday I got home from work and they’d knocked it down finally. When I came home Thursday after work, they’d started clearing out all the debris.

I also went and saw a couple movies in the theaters this past week. The last two weekends I’ve gone by myself and I saw The Unholy and Voyagers. This past Thursday night I took my mom to the movies for her birthday and we saw Godzilla Vs. King Kong.

New Books:

No new physical books this week. Which is okay since I got so many last week!

Four new e-galleys:

Free e-books:

So the last book I thought was maybe a romance and I jumped on the free link. Then after I downloaded it, I realized it was maybe more of a mystery. Oh well, it is a librarian character, so maybe I’ll get to it some day.

Ooh, and I got a surprise ebook gifted to me today! So cool! I’ve been wanting to read this one by Cindi Madsen since it came out just recently.

  1. Yipee! Congratulations on finally getting your official appointment. How exciting! Good luck editing your book. I hope you have a lot of luck with it. Curious about the Wright prequel. I liked that series.

  2. You got lots of new reads! Congrats on the new contract! I can’t imagine going to the movies yet. Our doctor moved and the practice didn’t even tell us until we needed prescriptions refilled. We found a new doctor closer to where we live. I hated going out then before we were vaccinated though.

I’ve been vaccinated, so don’t mind going out. My new doctor is closer to me as well, which is good! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Congratulations on the board approving your hiring and turning in your resignation for your current position. I know it all must feel a bit bittersweet. I hope it works out well with your new doctor. I have a phone appointment with mine tomorrow morning. I have a couple issues I need to discuss with her, but getting an appointment has been next to impossible. So, I’m hoping the phone appointment will at least get my foot in the door. I’m pretty sure I’ll be told I need to come in.

Good luck with your novel. I hope the polishing goes well. Have a great week and enjoy your reading!

Yeah, getting an appointment with my new doctor did take a little bit, but since it wasn’t an actual emergency or anything I was okay with waiting. Plus I hear the Nurse practitioners in the same clinic are good if I ever need to see someone right away and can’t get into my doctor, so that is good. Thanks for visiting!

  4. A funny thing – exactly as I clicked on your name to go to your blog a notification popped up that you tagged me on Instagram. I guess we’re psychic today!

Congrats on the new job! I’m really glad it all worked out, and I can imagine that it would be exciting to be the decision-maker now. Also, congrats on the beta read as well!

LOL! I just tagged you for a Jennifer L. Armentrout giveaway. I rarely do those Instagram tags other than one specific book friend I have, but I thought this was cool enough to tag a few other people. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks! They keep you pretty separated in the theater and unless you are eating or drinking you are still supposed to wear a mask, so I feel like it’s as safe as a restaurant at least these days.

  5. Yay for liking the new doctor! I had the worst time finding one I liked but it’s such a relief. And how wonderful about the new job. Being THE librarian sounds very exciting but it is always hard to leave the old place. I hope you have a wonderful week.

I was really worried I wouldn’t like her. Now I’m just hoping when my insurance switches over to the new job that I can keep the same doctor! I will have an aide, so I’ll have to learn how to be a manager I guess, but that’s okay. She’s been there a while, so I’ll probably just see what she does and go from there. I just hope that I can do some displays too, because I enjoy those! Thanks for stopping by!
