Weekly Wrap-Up #2

Okay, doing another weekly wrap-up! Although I got going a bit late because I have started working for DoorDash to try to make some money and even though I said I was only going to do it on Saturday, I ended up doing it on Sunday as well. I’ll be sure to link this up with both Stacking the Shelves (hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality) and the Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).

Let’s start with books added this week.

I’ve got a bit of a fabric addiction it seems, I can’t help but keep buying fabric. Even though I don’t know how to do much sewing. My mom started teaching me every once in a while, about two years ago. I gave in and bought this book, One-Yard Wonders, because this way if I buy a yard of a cute fabric I can make something cute with it! I might then sell them at a craft fair with my mom when they start having craft fairs again. Or give them to friends. Who knows.

No book mail this week, which is probably good! But there may be a book or two in the mail this week thanks to another book for trade deal.

For the most part I’m still on track with reading. Although the audiobook I’d been listening to had not been keeping my attention, I finally finished it today. According to Goodreads I might be one book behind, but I’m okay with that, because according to my blog calendar, I’m still on top or ahead of where I should be. I’m reading one of my Beat the Backlist challenge reads right now and it is so good! I should finish it tonight.

I’m currently binging Reign, and loving it! Work has been about the same, although they are going to start bringing students back to the building soon. I am at a high school, and while they intend to bring K-5 back at the end of February, for us they are only going to bring back seniors who are struggling and need some help so they can pass this year. But they have said that librarians are considered essential and need to come back. That’s fine by me, because I’ve been working in my library off and on anyway. But I’m not sure how my co-librarian will do because he and his wife chose to keep their kids home for the rest of the year, so they need him to probably stay home. We’ll see.

Monday morning one of my dogs, Argyle, has to go have surgery. He has a perineal hernia, and they’re also going to neuter him at the same time. I’ll be worried about him on Monday, so I don’t know if it is good or bad that I don’t have to work.

Last week’s posts:

Two reviews: Fetching by Kylie Gilmore and Dateable by Natalie Decker. Both were good and I hope to read more by those authors! Especially since the Gilmore one is the first in a series.

Thanks! Yeah, I have to keep myself from going to Joann’s because I’ll wander the fabric area and leave with at least $40 worth. lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Dropped him off this morning. Waiting to hear how it goes. Of course I worry about him. Kind of hope they keep him overnight on the one hand, so I know he’ll get good attention and not worry about not doing what I need to. But if he comes home today then that means it all really went well, right? Thanks for visiting!

There are so many cute fabrics, I just have to get to sewing. Waiting to hear how it goes. I assume he’s in surgery right now. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I hope Argyle’s surgery goes well, and he heals quickly. That’s an interesting approach your district is taking to in-person learning. I feel it could be easier on the elementary level, as the classes are usually smaller and they don’t tend to move between classes. It’s good to consider those that are struggling with at-home learning. I loved Reign until the last season or so. Once one of the characters was gone, I couldn’t get into the storylines.

Yeah, we’re trying to figure out all the ins and outs for high school. The rules/guidelines are that students can only go between 4 classes maximum during the day. Which is fine, because we do a block schedule. But then what about lunchtime? How does that work? And since they are not going with the same group to each class, not to mention the teachers still are teaching all the rest of the seniors or other students virtually. We’ll see! Hmm, now I’m interested in Reign. Although I’m assuming maybe it is Francis since in real life he doesn’t live longer than about 2 years after they get married? We’ll see! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Be safe out there while you are working! We haven’t used Door Dash, but I know a lot of people do. It’s been a lifesaver for them. I hope Argyle’s surgery goes well today. I’ll be thinking of you. I haven’t seen Reign, but I may have to. I hope you have a great week, Lisa!

DoorDashing went pretty well this weekend, well Saturday good, and Sunday I didn’t do a great job at paying attention to what orders I took, so it could have gone better. I personally can’t afford to do it myself very often because it seems so expensive to pay over $20 for what I could get if I just go to Chipotle for like $12. But it depends on the convenience I guess! Reign is definitely worth it, I think. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Oh yeah, Just heard back about Argyle and he is doing fine, just have to go pick him up this afternoon! Thanks for asking about him!

Just got the news that Argyle is doing well and I’ll go pick him up this afternoon! Thanks for visiting and asking about him!

  3. I think bringing back the struggling seniors seems like such a good idea. You can control the number but help those that are falling through the cracks. Everything is definitely tricky though. Hope your dog’s surgery goes perfectly. Always stressful and I’m not sure if being at work or not would be better! Have a great week!

    • Lisa Mandina

Surgery went okay. But having the dog home is kind of more stressful trying to keep him from messing with the incisions. Not looking forward to the next couple weeks of dealing with that! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I hope the surgery went well! Best of luck to your doggie! And good luck with the school situation too. Our school is back and some kids are still doing remote, but they’re encouraging most to come back. It’s fascinating seeing how different districts and different states are handling this.

    Be well this week!

    • Lisa Mandina

Surgery supposedly went well, just dealing with keeping him from messing with the incisions till they heal up is the issue now. Almost worse! It is definitely very interesting to see all the different ways things are being handled. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Aw, your poor dog. I’m glad it all went well and I hope he’s having a good day. That’s awesome you got that book to help you start using some of the fabric you have. I’m definitely not a sewing person but I do love DIY things. I can’t wait for craft shows to come back.

The funny thing is I never wanted to learn to sew because I just figured I’d have my mom do it or I’d buy clothes. But after shopping with her and seeing all the cool fabrics, now I want to learn, but we never seem to have time to get together to work on it. Plus I’m so nervous about it that I know I’m not doing that good and constantly ask her questions. But she bought me a sewing machine that she keeps at her house for when I come over for “sewing” lessons. Argyle’s surgery went well, now is just the time to keep him from messing with the incisions. Not fun for me! Thanks for visiting!

  6. Iza

I hope your dog’s surgery went well. I amass a lot of fabric here too, while I hardly sew, much to my shame because my mother was a seamstress. But I have plans for cushions, lol ! Enjoy your week 🙂

    • Lisa Mandina

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t sew a lot, but who can’t help amassing fabrics! lol. Argyle’s surgery went well, it’s just dealing with the healing now! Thanks for stopping by!

Surgery went well. He seems to be healing okay. Just have to be constantly on him about licking at his incisions. :-(. Thanks for stopping by!
