Top 10 of 2020: Best of the Best (Favorite Books)

Top 10 of 2020 is hosted once again by Kimberly Faye Reads, and this year she has four co-hosts: Sarah (@dragonflyreads) | Kate (@kate_reads_), Mollie (@molliesbookshelf) & Jenica (@firewhiskeyreader)

This topic is always one of the hardest! But I had to go with books that I might have been surprised by, or ones I keep thinking about for some reason, or maybe I have recommended them to someone. Let’s see what I came up with!

Yes, you probably guessed it, but this right here is my number one favorite book of the whole year. I loved it so much! In honor of keeping these posts quick and easy for myself, if you want to know more, you go read my review HERE.

This was an author we hadn’t really had a book from in a long time it seemed. And this one was a big change from her futuristic/fantasy world Under the Never Sky series. But I loved this historical fiction book so much! For more about it, go read my review HERE.

Another one I’ve mentioned on other lists this past week, this one spoke to me so much. It was my bookseller experience in so many ways. And having lost that job thanks to the pandemic, it was a bittersweet read for me. If you haven’t yet, you can go read my review HERE.

So honestly, up until lately, I hadn’t been a fan of K-pop. I didn’t dislike it, just didn’t really care much other than I knew so many of my students were fans. And as a boy-band lover, I get it. Then I read this book, and later, this past month, the song Dynamite by BTS got stuck in my head and I had to learn all the words to it. So I might be coming over the K-Pop side. You can read my review of this one HERE.

This one was very timely with all of the riots and civil rights unrest we had this year. But it really connected with me because it took place during the LA Rodney King riots in the 90s, when I was in college. I remember those because they caused riots in the small town where I went to college on the last night of our finals. You can read my review HERE.

I was late in getting around to reading this one. I found it at a discount store and grabbed it before all the pandemic hit. Then I read it, and fell in love with. It made me so ready for the Renaissance Festival in my town this year, which of course was cancelled due to COVID. You can read my review of this one HERE.

This is one of my favorites because I totally got the way the main character acted and played things out and assumed that what she wanted wasn’t really what was happening. Because that’s me. Check out my review of this one HERE.

This one is on the top 10 because it introduced me to what I think is going to become a new favorite author from me. You can check out my review HERE.

This was another new author for me that just blew me away with the hilariousness of the story and I loved the family and side characters as well. You can check out my review HERE.

Finally, this fun holiday themed story with the hat-tip to the movie Groundhog Day was a surprise at how much I loved it. I mean it made me cry! You can read my review of this one HERE.

Final Thoughts:

Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What is your favorite book of the year?

You definitely do! It was so funny! And the science parts were just perfect for my love of paleontology. Thanks for stopping by!
