Synopsis:
I haven’t seen her in three years.
I haven’t talked to her since the kiss.
So why am I on a plane, flying across the world to spend a week with her in Germany?
One word: Pops.
My life’s a mess.
My possible football career is hanging on by a thread.
I’m driving the roads of Germany in honor of Pops with the one girl I can never have.
And I’m sharing a bed with her, the girl I’ve measured everyone else up to, while desperately trying to not to touch her.
We made a pact growing up, never to get romantic with each other – never fall in love.
And I’m about to break that pact. For good.

My Review:
I read the first book in this series, The Revenge Pact, which was by a different author, but I loved it. And as usual, Meghan Quinn blew me away with another great read! It makes sense that since these are by different authors, we don’t get as much of the past characters as we might when it is all by the same author, but it didn’t matter, because Crew was so great to get to know. While we started with the same losing season as the first book, because that’s the way these stories are setting up, so far both authors have been able to surprise me or at least be a little more original with how the ending goes for a new adult sports romance read. Which I can’t tell you, because that would be spoiling it for you!
The romance between Crew and Hazel was sweet and perfect. The snarky banter and innuendos that I have come to expect from this author were there and made me fall in love with the characters. But this book not only had the great characters that Quinn knows how to write, there was also the setting, Germany, that became a bit of a character in itself. One of my sisters is a big fan of all things German, knows some of the language, and has visited before. So it was fun for me to text her the German words and food and places as I read. I’ll definitely have to buy a physical copy of this book to let her borrow.
The letter writing in this reminded me a bit of a book by Maureen Johnson, 13 Little Blue Envelopes. And I loved how Crew’s grandpa, Pops, set it all up so perfectly. Now I only wish I’d had time to sign up for one of the tours for the third book in the series, even though it is from an author I haven’t read yet. Hopefully I’ll get around to reading Hollis’s book by Adriana Locke in the near future!
