Synopsis:

Dating is hard. Dating in a small town? Impossible.

Leave it to my little brother to come back home announcing he knocked up his fiancée and the wedding has been moved…to next month.

When he tries to set me up with one of his football buddies, I tell him I’ll be bringing my own plus-one.

Only problem? I’m hopelessly single.

Enter Sullivan Scott, AKA my hero.

We strike a deal: he’ll pretend to be my boyfriend, and I’ll use my mechanic skills to help him fix his boat. That’s it. No funny business, and definitely no feelings involved.

Sully’s quiet and reserved, and I’ve been told I’m too much to handle on a good day. We’re opposites, and neither of us is looking for anything serious.

I’m certain we can keep this strictly platonic…

My Review:

I am seriously wanting to slap myself for not picking up a book by Teagan Hunter before now because this book was hilarious! Between her hilarious parents, the guy who runs the pizza joint where this all kind of revolves around, and just the couples and all the characters, the dialogue had me laughing out loud so hard that I would have to stop and put my e-reader down while I laughed. Unfortunately I know I can’t include one of the most hilarious insults I’ve ever read because it probably would get flagged in a review on one of the big retailers, but oh my gosh, it has to do with a wrinkle on a certain body part, and I still can’t stop giggling when I think of that part.

The romance was perfect, as I said already, I loved the main characters. I like how “weird” Thea was, and how sensitive Sully was. Although while I get his issues with his dad, I also feel maybe we needed a bit more to make it as big a deal as he made it sometimes. I guess it was the small town bit maybe that made him not want to share his last name? It was a very common last name, so it’s not like she would have recognized it. I loved the twist at the end that I did not see coming, making the “meet-cute” actually even cuter. My only complaint, and the reason on my blog I’m marking it as 4.5 instead of 5 full stars is because I hate when people drag their feet about letting a fake relationship become real when it so obviously is. But that’s a personal issue.

Now I have to go back and read every other book in this series, not to mention that I’ve had another on my free or cheap e-book already downloaded list for a while that I need to read! And hey, have to give a shout out to the author because she is from Missouri originally, that’s my home!

About the Author:

I’m a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 9-year-old dog. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When I’m not writing, you can find me binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I like cold weather, buy more paperbacks than I’ll ever read, and I never say no to brownies.

Writing is my passion, and this is just the beginning of my journey.

This book does sound perfect for you, as if the author wrote it with you as an audience in mind. Finding a new author you love is awesome and bonus when he/she is from your home state.

Yeah, and she’ll be at Book Bonanza if it happens in 2021, so now I’m excited to meet her there! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I hope you will enjoy going back and reading the other ones in the series as well! It sounds like you managed to have a very good laugh while reading this one and I need books like that in my life right now. And the romance sounds truly lovely too.

I just have to find the time between them and the new ones! The funny stuff is something I need and I think a lot of people just need some of that in their life with the way the world is right now. The romance was sweet as well!
