Once again I’ll be joining up with the Can’t Wait Wednesday posts hosted by Wishful Endings. So last week got really crazy busy with the last week of “school” and then I went out of town for the weekend with my family as we usually do on Memorial Day weekend. So I just didn’t have time to do a post. But I’m back working on the books that come out next week, and let me say, there are a ton! So here we go!
From my ARC list for June 2nd, 2020:

I really enjoyed the other book I read by this author, Five Midnights, so I was disappointed to not get an ARC of this one in the mail this year. I’ll still be sure to get it for my school library though!
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Category Five is a new supernatural YA thriller from Ann Dávila Cardinal, set against the backdrop of a post-hurricane Puerto Rico.
After the hurricane, some see destruction and some smell blood.
The tiny island of Vieques, located just off the northeastern coast of the main island of Puerto Rico, is trying to recover after hurricane Maria, but the already battered island is now half empty. To make matters worse, as on the main island, developers have come in to buy up the land at a fraction of its worth, taking advantage of the island when it is down.
Lupe, Javier, and Marisol are back to investigate a series of murders that follow in the wake of a hurricane and in the shadow of a new supernatural threat.

Just sounds like it could be a very humorous story.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
From the author of Happiness for Humans, a romantic comedy for the technology age: a young woman unlucky in love gets a little help from the most unlikely of places to find her perfect match.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone had a team of smart machines to handle all the messy emotional stuff? When you consider how many quadrillions of hours of human drudgery have been eradicated by the invention of only the dishwasher, the washing machine and (ahem) the fridge freezer, is it absurd to imagine a scenario in which household appliances bring the same — yes! — genius to bear on the slow-motion car crash that is (for many young people) the romantic side of their lives? If they are content to leave their dishes, dirty linen and food refrigeration to smart technology, how much of a stretch is it for machines to take care of their emotional needs?
Chloe and Daisy Parsloe only have each other, since Daisy’s dad left for sunnier climes and a new family. But now Daisy is in her early thirties, she’s not doing brilliantly at work, her love life is haphazard (to put it kindly) and her elderly mum seems to be losing her mind . . . Daisy is also the proud possessor of a smart fridge, which keeps trying to help Daisy sort out her life by sending her texts to tell her that she’s out of milk, or that the pasta salad has gone out of date. What Daisy doesn’t know is that her smart fridge, like her smart toothbrush, microwave, tv, fitness tracker, and laptop all want to help her smooth out her chaotic existence — and help her mother, Mrs. Parsloe, stay independently living at home. Operation Daisy is about to make both the Parsloes’ lives much, much happier.

I’ve got an ARC of this, and hope to have it read in time to post a review this coming Sunday.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Everyone at the prestigious Bexley School believes that Sage Morgan and Charlie Carmichael are meant to be….that it’s just a matter of time until they realize that they are actually in love.
When Luke Morrissey shows up on the Bexley campus his presence immediately shakes things up. Charlie and Luke are drawn to each other the moment they meet, giving Sage the opportunity to steal away to spend time with Charlie’s twin brother, Nick.
But Charlie is afraid of what others will think if he accepts that he has much more than a friendship with Luke. And Sage fears that things with Nick are getting too serious too quickly. The duo will need to rely on each other and their lifelong friendship to figure things out with the boys they love.

Creepy cover and sounds like a good mystery thriller! I did not get an ARC of this one, even though Sourcebooks Fire usually sends me most of their titles.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
When she was a child, Cassidy Pratt accidentally started a fire that killed her neighbor. At least, that’s what she’s been told. She can’t remember anything from that day, and her town’s bullies, particularly the cruel and beautiful Melody Davenport, have never let her live it down.
But then Melody goes missing, and Cassidy thinks she may have information. She knows she should go to the cops, but she recently joked about how much she’d like to get rid of Melody. She even planned out the perfect way to do it. And then she gets a chilling text from an unknown number: I’m so glad we’re in this together.
Now it’s up to Cassidy to figure out what really happened before the truth behind Melody’s disappearance sets the whole town ablaze.

While I haven’t read a ton of books about mermaids or sirens, they don’t always work for me, this one just sounds so good, not to mention that beautiful cover!
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Tavia is already at odds with the world, forced to keep her siren identity under wraps in a society that wants to keep her kind under lock and key. Never mind she’s also stuck in Portland, Oregon, a city with only a handful of black folk and even fewer of those with magical powers. At least she has her bestie Effie by her side as they tackle high school drama, family secrets, and unrequited crushes.
But everything changes in the aftermath of a siren murder trial that rocks the nation; the girls’ favorite Internet fashion icon reveals she’s also a siren, and the news rips through their community. Tensions escalate when Effie starts being haunted by demons from her past, and Tavia accidentally lets out her magical voice during a police stop. No secret seems safe anymore—soon Portland won’t be either.

Again, a beautiful cover and sounds really good! I love stories that include folklore from cultures different from my own. I love to learn those stories and tales.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
The first in an fantasy duology inspired by West African folklore in which a grieving crown princess and a desperate refugee find themselves on a collision course to murder each other despite their growing attraction.
For Malik, the Solstasia festival is a chance to escape his war-stricken home and start a new life with his sisters in the prosperous desert city of Ziran. But when a vengeful spirit abducts Malik’s younger sister, Nadia, as payment into the city, Malik strikes a fatal deal—kill Karina, Crown Princess of Ziran, for Nadia’s freedom.
But Karina has deadly aspirations of her own. Her mother, the Sultana, has been assassinated; her court threatens mutiny; and Solstasia looms like a knife over her neck. Grief-stricken, Karina decides to resurrect her mother through ancient magic . . . requiring the beating heart of a king. And she knows just how to obtain one: by offering her hand in marriage to the victor of the Solstasia competition.
When Malik rigs his way into the contest, they are set on a course to destroy each other. But as attraction flares between them and ancient evils stir, will they be able to see their tasks to the death?

I adore Sophie Jordan, a little disappointed I didn’t get an ARC of this one but that’s life. I’ll look forward to reading it when I get a chance!
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
A steamy contemporary YA romance by New York Times best-selling author Sophie Jordan about a girl with a bad reputation giving lessons on how to attract guys for some extra cash—only to fall for her client’s golden-boy brother. For fans of Kami Garcia, Katie McGarry, and Netflix’s Sex Education.
Wild, beautiful, and (as rumor has it) experienced, Hayden Vargas doesn’t have time for love or relationships. She’s learned the hard way that the only person you can count on is yourself, and she’s hell-bent on earning enough money to leave her small, judgy Texas town as fast as possible. So when nerdy Emmaline Martin offers to pay Hayden for lessons in seduction, the money is so easy, there must be a catch. Enter the catch: Emmaline’s older brother, popular, all-around nice guy™ Nolan Martin, who doesn’t want his sister’s reputation tarnished by the school’s resident bad girl.
But Hayden should know that looks can be deceiving. Nolan may seem like a golden boy, but like Hayden, he has a few secrets of his own. And the more he meddles in her lessons with Emmaline, the more these polar opposites clash—and the more sparks fly. Turns out Nolan may have some lessons to teach Hayden, but only if she’s willing to learn.

So, this one may actually be postponed till August, there are two dates listed on Goodreads. But the ARC I was reading this past weekend said June, so I’m going to go ahead and post about it today. Although I won’t be finishing it till later probably.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
The Wicked Deep meets A Curse So Dark and Lonely in this gripping, dark fairy-tale fantasy about two girls who must choose between saving themselves, each other, or their sinking island city.
Every year on St. Walpurga’s Eve, Caldella’s Witch Queen lures a boy back to her palace. An innocent life to be sacrificed on the full moon to keep the island city from sinking.
Lina Kirk is convinced her brother is going to be taken this year. To save him, she enlists the help of Thomas Lin, the boy she secretly loves, and the only person to ever escape from the palace. But they draw the queen’s attention, and Thomas is chosen as the sacrifice.
Queen Eva watched her sister die to save the boy she loved. Now as queen, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s willing to sacrifice anyone if it means saving herself and her city.
When Lina offers herself to the queen in exchange for Thomas’s freedom, the two girls await the full moon together. But Lina is not at all what Eva expected, and the queen is nothing like Lina envisioned. Against their will, they find themselves falling for each other. As water floods Caldella’s streets and the dark tide demands its sacrifice, they must choose who to save: themselves, each other, or the island city relying on them both.

So, I have never read Little Women. I know, gasp, shock! But I have read books kind of based on the story, and then I finally saw the new movie last year, and I liked it enough that this book really makes me want to read this different story.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Bestselling authors Margaret Stohl and Melissa de la Cruz bring us a romantic retelling of Little Women starring Jo March and her best friend, the boy next door, Theodore “Laurie” Laurence.
1869, Concord, Massachusetts: After the publication of her first novel, Jo March is shocked to discover her book of scribbles has become a bestseller, and her publisher and fans demand a sequel. While pressured into coming up with a story, she goes to New York with her dear friend Laurie for a week of inspiration—museums, operas, and even a once-in-a-lifetime reading by Charles Dickens himself!
But Laurie has romance on his mind, and despite her growing feelings, Jo’s desire to remain independent leads her to turn down his heartfelt marriage proposal and sends the poor boy off to college heartbroken. When Laurie returns to Concord with a sophisticated new girlfriend, will Jo finally communicate her true heart’s desire or lose the love of her life forever?

I need to read this author’s other book, but this one sounds good as well.
Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Robyn Schneider, author of The Beginning of Everything, delivers a witty and heartbreaking tale of first love, second beginnings, and last chances in this timely and authentic bisexual coming-of-age story, perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera.
In Southern California, no one lives more than thirty miles from the nearest fault line. Sasha Bloom is standing right on top of one when her world literally crumbles around her. With her mother now dead and father out of the picture, Sasha moves in with her estranged grandparents.
Living in her mom’s old bedroom, Sasha has no idea who she is anymore. Luckily, her grandparents are certain they know who she should be: A lawyer in the making. Ten pounds skinnier. In a socially advantageous relationship with a boy from a good family—a boy like Cole Edwards.
And Cole has ideas for who Sasha should be, too. His plus one at lunch. His girlfriend. His.
Sasha tries to make everything work, but that means folding away her love of photography, her grief for her mother, and her growing interest in the magnificently clever Lily Chen. Sasha wants to follow Lily off the beaten path, to discover hidden beaches, secret menus, and the truth about dinosaur pee.
But being friends with Lily might lead somewhere new. Is Sasha willing to stop being the girl everyone expects and let the girl beneath the surface breath through?

Final Thoughts:
So I had 10 to share this week, originally I had 15, but 4 of those had date changes, and one I can’t seem to find it listed anywhere now, so no idea what happened to that one. So many coming out this beginning of June, as usual as the first week of the month seems to be. Are any of these on your TBR, or have you already read them? If so, which do you recommend? Leave me a link to your post in your comment and I’ll be sure to return the visit!
And while you’re here, if you have time, stop by my April Wrap-Up post and enter my giveaway for either a book from my giveaway stack if you’re in the US, or a book from The Book Depository for my international followers. Hurry, it closes this Sunday night!
Definitely a nice mix of books! I am a bit confused on some of the book’s I have with date changes, etc. I guess a lot of things are up in the air! haha

I know, I have one I started this week, but now doesn’t come out till August, but if I wait that long, I’ll have to completely restart it. I think I’ll finish it when I can, and then get a review scheduled for closer to the pub date. Thanks for stopping by!
There are so many great sounding picks there. Jo & Laurie was really good!
My CWW
I hope I can get to it soon! Of course my TBR of books to read for future reviews keeps getting in my way of reading older books that have already been published. I’ll be over to check your post out soon!
So you are killing my wish list/TBR. So many here I want to read but I am really interested in Jo and Laurie because while I don’t read a lot of classics, I ADORE Little Women and retellings of it. Thanks for sharing all these awesome covers too!
I know, that’s the problem with all the Wednesday posts, always adding to our TBR. Thanks for visiting!
There are so many books on this list that sound fantastic. I really need to get reading during this quarantine.
I have read a lot, but I also bought a Nintendo Switch and so have been wasting time lately on Animal Crossing. Thanks for stopping by!
You and the rest of the world—I think Animal Crossing is definitely the rage right now. 🙂
It’s fun, but a time waste! Just like when I played the Sims. Thanks for stopping by!
So many of these sound good. I love books featuring sirens so A Song Below Water is very appealing to me. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thanks for visiting!
Little Creeping Things is on my list too! Definitely looking forward to reading that on my patio this Fall!
Thanks for stopping by!
Kissing Lessons seems to be one of those books that people had a lot of strong opinions about, but I liked it. I felt there were a few loose ends I would have liked taken care of, but it was good, entertaining. I will be curious to hear what you think about You Don’t Live Here, as I DNFed. I usually love Schneider’s books, but the politics played too big a part in the story, and I am just not in the mood.
Ooh, I am curious as to why you DNFed it. Politics definitely turn me off these days. There’s too much of that in the real world.
So many good books! I really want to read A Song of Wraiths and Ruin:-)
Agreed! Thanks for stopping by!
I haven’t read Little Women, either, but I just read another retelling and enjoyed it, so Jo & Laurie sounds really good to me!
Agreed! Thanks for visiting!
As always your posts have me adding to my wish list! Category Five sounds good. Ask Me Anything is completely new to me, but sounds right up my alley. I love a good rom com. I have A Song Below Water on my wish list already. And oh my gosh, what a beautiful cover for A Song of Wraiths and Ruin! I hope you enjoy whichever of these you decide to read. Have a great weekend.
Thanks for visiting!
So many good picks! Thanks for sharing them. And thanks for coming by my Wednesday post.
Thanks for returning the visit!
Looks like a lot of great books are coming out soon. I really like the sound of A Song Below Water.
So many this week! And a bunch this coming week as well.
