Author Interview:

1. What does your writing process look like? Do you know the whole
story when you start? Or do you just start writing and go with it (seat
of the pants writing)? If you plan it out, how do you do that?
Outline, notecards, post-it-notes, etc.?

Hi Lisa. I have an idea of the complete story
before I begin. Then I start writing. After a few pages, I take a step back and
roughly outline the chapters. After that, I just sit down and write. It’s very
exciting as I feel like I’m reading the story as I’m writing it. I always write
my books by hand in A4 green writing books and then type them onto my computer.
It is a bit laborious, but I really enjoy the creativity of putting pen to
paper.

2. Are you part of a writers group that gets together and helps each
other with their writing?

I’m not part of a local writer’s group, but I am a member of a book club
called RRBC which is full of authors and readers who are really supportive. I’m
also a member of the Romantic Novelists Association. There are so many
wonderful writers there and they are always open to helping other authors.

3. How do you come up with your ideas for your stories?

I have been running my own businesses from the age of 17, so I use my
experience from that. All of my books are about women who run very unusual
businesses. They are about women who sometimes lack self-confidence, but learn
more about themselves as the story unfolds. Sometimes I will be drinking coffee
in a café (this happens a lot and usually involves cake) and I will see someone
walking down a street and it inspires a story though!

4. What tips do you have for aspiring writers?

Don’t give up! You can’t edit a blank page. Get
those words onto paper and be kind to yourself. Marketing is not as scary as it
first seems. It can be enjoyable if you let it. Also, take time on your author
branding. Make sure that your message is the same across all of your marketing
platforms, so that readers can identify with your style of writing.

5. What are your favorite:

Books/authors/genres : Book: The Hobbit, by J. R. R. Tolkien. Authors: Sophie Kinsella, Lisa Jewell. Genres: Romance.

Movies/TV Shows : Movies: Marvel. RomCom. TV shows: I adore reality T.V! Don’t tell my
husband J

Music: I really enjoy soul music and jazz, but also like current pop
music.

Food/Writing snack: Fajitas.

Author Bio –

Award-winning inventor and author, Lizzie Chantree, started her own business at the age of 18 and became one of Fair Play London and The Patent Office’s British Female Inventors of the Year in 2000. She discovered her love of writing fiction when her children were little and now runs networking hours on social media, where creative businesses, writers, photographers and designers can offer advice and support to each other.
