Can’t Wait Wednesday #31: When Life Gives You Demons by Jennifer Honeybourn

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings to spotlight
and talk about the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read.
Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on
Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.  My pick this week is one that I found on Edelweiss last week that just sounds like a really fun read!  I mean, just look at the title!  Here is the synopsis from Edelweiss:

In this smart and funny YA novel, Shelby Black tries to juggle school, love, and exorcism.

Shelby Black has spent the past six months training to be an exorcist. Her great-uncle Roy—a Catholic priest—has put her through exorcist boot camp hell, hoping to develop her talent, but ohmygod, he still doesn’t trust her to do an exorcism on her own.

High school is hard enough without having to explain that you fight demons for a living, so Shelby keeps her extracurricular activity to herself. The last thing she wants is for her crush, Spencer, to find out what she does in her off time.

But Shelby knows how to keep a secret—even a big one. Like the fact that her mom left under mysterious circumstances and it’s all her fault. Shelby is hellbent on finding her mom, no matter what it costs her—even if what it ends up costing her is her soul AND a relationship with Spencer.

Sounds like fun, don’t you think?  Does this sound like one you’d add to your TBR?  What book are you eagerly awaiting this week?

  1. I really liked Wesley James Ruined My Life and am excited to read more of Honeybourn's work. The whole premise of this is out there, and sounds like it will be hilarious.

  2. I am sooooooo glad that this cover won! I rarely participate in the Swoon Reads cover voting (mostly because I always forget) but I made sure to vote on this book's – and I chose this cover. It is awesome! I can't wait to read the book. I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it!

Have a great week, Lisa. =)

  3. Oh, GREAT pick!! That cover is too funny!!

The last time I read about a girl dealing with demons was when I read the Demon Trappers series. This one injects some humor into the mix, which I really like! Thanks for putting this book on my radar, Lisa!

Thanks as well for commenting on my own CWW post!! <3 <3 🙂 🙂
