Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings to spotlight
and talk about the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read.
Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on
Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. This week I’ve got a new book by a new author for me. It sounds like a science fiction story I would totally love! Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
In this gripping sci-fi thriller, genetically altered teens fight for survival in a near-future society that is redefining what it means to be human.
Sixteen-year-old Jimi knows people change, but nothing could prepare her for what’s about to happen to her best friend, Del. Del is obsessed with becoming a chimera (ki-mir-a): a person who pays back-alley geneticists, known as “”genies,”” to illegally splice animal genes into their own. The resulting physical changes have scared lawmakers into drafting legislation declaring chimeras officially nonpersons—so when Del goes missing, Jimi is desperate to find him before he alters himself forever.
As she tries to save him, Jimi must face down unscrupulous people and risk her own life—all while knowing that if getting spliced is the choice Del has made, it means he’s leaving her behind forever.
Do you like science fiction stories? Does this one sound good to you? What book are you eagerly awaiting this week?
I like sci-fi a lot, but I normally read ones dealing with space. This sounds really cool though! Adding it to my TBR now. 🙂 I hope you love it Lisa! Here is my WoW for the week!
Happy Reading!

Space didn't used to be my favorite sci-fi, but I've gotten into it more lately as well. Glad this one peaks your interest! Thanks for stopping by!
This is the first time I'm hearing about this! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm really picky with sci-fi but this one sounds awesome.
Thanks for sharing,

I'm pretty picky about sci-fi myself, which is funny, because it used to be the main thing I liked to read! But this one sounds along the lines of the stories that I like, so I added it to my TBR. Thanks for visiting!
I don't read a lot of sci-fi but this one sounds interesting. I read Nemesis by Brandon Reichs earlier this year and it was kind of sci-fi and I really loved it. I hope you love this one and check out Nemesis as well.
Nemesis is one that I was very interested in. Thanks for stopping by!
