Sunday Post Meme
.   It’s been another busy week! But I’ve still been getting lots of reading done, and also keeping up on getting at least one review post done a day to try to catch up.

Last week on the blog:

I got a lot of reviews fit in this week, one part of a blog tour. So that was good.  Even with taking time away from working in my school library, I still didn’t get a lot of what I’d hoped done.  I didn’t get my 3 days at the gym last week, but I have plans to get in 4 days this week to make up for it.  I didn’t get any writing done, hoping to fit that in this week.  I had a fiasco on Thursday night with tickets to a baseball game.  I’d won tickets at school last May for participating in an exercise challenge.  The tickets were donated by our assistant principal who has season tickets.  Her husband didn’t realize she’d already given someone the tickets for Thursday night, and since they were out of town, he gave them to some co-workers. So when I showed up at the game with my friends, the seats had already been taken.  We ended up buying cheap seats, nosebleed section, and had a good time anyway.  But compared to the seats we would have had, right behind first base, and my favorite player, Eric Hosmer, it kind of was a disappointment.  The bookstore where I work is finally changing the hours so that we close at 9 pm instead of 10.  Last night was the last regular night of closing at 10 pm.  I am so looking forward to this during the school year when I won’t have to get home so late on school nights.

Coming up this week on the blog:

  • Reviews:  The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Stiefvater, Rowdy (Marked Men #5) by Jay Crownover (audiobook), and The Killer in Me by Margot Harrison (Book tour)
  • Cover Characteristic:  Balconies
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Book Tour:  Knight’s Apprentice: Knights of the Immortals by Catrina Taylor
  • Possible discussion post – not sure of topic yet
  • Possible  Swoon Thursday

So, another full week.  Still going to meet my goal of two reviews a week.  As I mentioned above I’ve planned to get my walking in four days this week to make up for only getting 2 instead of 3 days last week.  I’m going to try to pick one day this week for writing as well.  Starting the week of the 18th, the offices will be open again in my school, so I’ll be trying to go in and work in my library again.  I’ve got a ton of shelving to do.  I need to finish weeding the fiction, as well as finish getting the 900s rearranged and adding and some more weeding in that section.  Then I’ve got furniture I want to get moved around, as well as other library ideas I want to get done.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  I’m not even going to pretend I didn’t get too many new books this week.  I’m just going to say, “Yay books!” and share what I got.

Physical books:

Diane at FictionZeal sent me her copy of Dorothy Parker Drank Here, because when she reviewed it, I’d mentioned it might be one I’d like to read. So thanks Diane!  The middle book is from my OTSP Secret Sister, which I now know is Nicole over at Feed Your Fiction Addiction.  It’s a series I’ve been wanting to start for a long time!  The last book I got through the Twitter #booksfortrade from Ava at Bookishness and Tea.

I won this book from the author on a Facebook giveaway when she was promoting her sequel to it.  I can’t wait to read this one!

All of the above books came from the bookstore where I work.  I bought the top 3.  I’m currently listening to the audiobook of one of those, AsaThe Big Book of Autocorrect Fails was in our clearance sale, and since autocorrect things crack me up, I had to grab it for half price.  The three on the bottom are ones that the store was scheduled to return the stripped cover to the publisher this month, and since I think I need to try Katie McGarry before I have the chance to meet her at NOLA  StoryCon in September, I grabbed that one.  I still have to start Marie Rutkoski’s series, but now I have book two for when I do. And then I’ve always been intrigued by the Sarah Beth Durst book, The Lost.

Netgalley:

Can’t remember if I’d gotten the news about getting this one already or not, but I got an email from the publicist for one of my favorite authors, J.R. Johansson, this week about getting it, so I’m sharing it again just in case.

Edelweiss:

The top two I did go ahead and download.  I love the tv show Lucky Dog and so I thought I might really like to read the training tips from the host Brandon McMillan.  The other book, Denton Little’s Still Not Dead, well I just loved the first book so much that I have to read this one!  The bottom two I put on my calendar, and I’m approved for them, but I won’t download them until closer to pub date to make sure I have time to read them.
Free or cheap e-books:
Yeah, too many again, I know.

There are mostly romance, but a few YA books in there as well.    I’ve already finished one of the above, and have started another one.
So, what did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. That's a bummer about the game! And Manic Pixie Dream Girl sounds fun- I've read a few of Gretchen McNeil's books and enjoyed them.

    • It turned out to still be a fun night, so in the end it was okay. I do love all of McNeil's books that I've read so far, so I have high hopes for this one. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Congrats on winning that facebook giveaway! Looks like some epic books in that pack, and the physical copy of Assassin's Heart looks pretty epic as well. Sorry that you didn't get caught up as much as you wanted to, but hopefully this week can further you into getting there some more!

    • Yeah, getting ready to do a review as soon as I get all my comments here answered! That extra stuff seems to take up more time than I plan! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Jeez, every week you're overloaded with books! Which is amazing and crazy and FANTASTIC! I loved Even the Score. Nowhere But Here and Assassin's Heart didn't impress me, but I liked them. I'm looking forward to reading The Row. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Lisa. 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

    • I know!!! I can't seem to stop myself! When I see a free one, I keep downloading it! I'm wanting to read Nowhere But Here, because I have the chance to meet the author in September, but not sure if I'll get to it. That's too bad about Assassin's Heart, it sounds pretty good to me! Thanks for stopping by!

    • I'm trying to keep up the walking. I am feeling like I've hit a plateau in the weight loss though, so I'm going to have to try some diet changes. 🙁 boo! Thanks for visiting!

  4. I LOVED Assassin's Heart! It must be so cool to have Nicole as an Secret Sister, she is so cool in person. I loved meeting her at BEA.
My goal is always 2 reviews a week. Sometimes I fail, most of the time I do at least 2. I think it is so great you do so much walking. I always think about it, but I seriously need more hours in my day. You inspire me Lisa!
    Have a great week!

    • Oh how cool that you got to meet her! I hope I can meet more people at BEA next year when I hopefully get to go again. I'm trying to do the walking, but like you say, there are only so many hours in the day, and it is getting hard to balance everything. I'm going to have to up how many miles I do at a time. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I'll be curious to see your review of Assassin's Heart. You do have a LOT of books there. And, you're welcome for Dorothy Parker Drank Here. Hope you enjoy it as well. 🙂

    • Too, too many! I have got to quit downloading free ebooks! Or even looking for them. 🙂 Thanks again for sending the book, hopefully I can get to it in the near future.

  6. You hit the jackpot on ebooks! I've heard amazing things about Colleen Hoover books but haven't had the chance to get to them yet. Maybe someday (har har). XD
Assassin's Heart looks and sounds so good! I'm very curious about that one. Enjoy your reads Lisa, hope you have a great week!

    • You should totally pick them up, and the Maybe Some Day one would be a great one to start with! 🙂 I'm excited to get to Assassin's Heart. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Okay, I gotta know… what did the Ass't Principal do to make up for HUGE goof with the tickets to the game?!?! I hope she double made up for it somehow!!!! That's so awful!!!

And Denton Little #2 is out on Edelweiss?!?! YAY!!! I must've missed it!! I must go hunt that one down b/c I've got to know what happens next 😉

Awesome job on all the writing of reviews, girl!!! And I think you should just old yourself to 3 days at the gym this week 😉

    • Well she ended up getting me another set of tickets for next Monday, so yay!

I know! I loved Denton Little so much! Hope you find it and get it downloaded! Working on the reviews, although I didn't get one today, will try to do two tomorrow. I've got my three days done at the gym, but am still going to try to go on Saturday.

    • It was, but she made it up to me and I get to go next Monday night now! Ah, who knows when I'll get to it, but maybe will be ready when you are! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
