Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting. I’ve picked another sequel this week. This time I’ve been waiting for longer than this seems, but I was waiting for the final cover reveal to post a WOW. I was lucky enough to get an ARC for the first one, and I wish I could get an ARC of this sequel to match. If they are out there, it will probably be on my high needs list for books for trade soon. Without further ado, here is the blurb from Goodreads:
A Torch Against the Night takes readers into the heart of the Empire as Laia and Elias fight their way north to liberate Laia’s brother from the horrors of Kauf Prison. Hunted by Empire soldiers, manipulated by the Commandant, and haunted by their pasts, Laia and Elias must outfox their enemies and confront the treacherousness of their own hearts.
In the city of Serra, Helene Aquilla finds herself bound to the will of the Empire’s twisted new leader, Marcus. When her loyalty is questioned, Helene finds herself taking on a mission to prove herself—a mission that might destroy her, instead.
There’s not a lot to that description, but I must know what happens next! You can read my review of the original, An Ember in the Ashes, HERE.
So tell me, what book are you eagerly awaiting this week?
Sounds intense! I hope you love it, and thanks for sharing. Here's mine: “THE HOPEFULS”
The first one was very intense, so I'm eager to see what can be resolved in the second one! Thanks for stopping by!
This book is new to me! Thanks for sharing!
Have a wonderful week! Dani @ Paulette’s Papers
It's a neat new series that I can't wait to read on! Thanks for visiting!
Sooooooooooooooo excited to read this book! I don't hate the cover but I wish it had matched the original hardcover copy's cover. Ahhh, redesigns! This is lovely though. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!
Have a fantastic week, Lisa. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I feel like it matches in a way. It's another picture with the people really small on it, only not as small as the original cover I guess. I can't wait to find out where this story will go next! Thanks for stopping by!
Never read An Ember in the Ashes- holding off till the entire series is released and then it is on like donkey kong.
My WoW
you're so good. I can never wait if I get a chance to read a series as an advanced copy. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
So glad you have the ARC so you can read this. Some people had been upset the pub was moved back to August. Hope you enjoy!

Oh, I don't have an ARC yet. I'm just hoping for one! I am okay with it being a little later, just because it's not like I have that much time to fit it in at the moment. Thanks for stopping by!
I haven't read the first book in this series. I hope you enjoy reading this one, and I hope you can get your hands on an arc!
