The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s
a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is
coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here:
Sunday Post Meme
. I didn’t get this done last week, so I’ll include those as well.

Last two weeks on the blog:

I got a lot of reviews done the past two weeks, met my goal of 2 reviews a week by getting 3 each week!  However, I am now in the spot that I hear many other bloggers talk about, one I’ve not been in any other time, my reviews are not being done as soon as I finish the book, like they used to always be.  I now have the last book that I finished yesterday that will not be reviewed until April 4th.  I need to go ahead and start getting those done when I finish the book instead of waiting. During my spring break I got to meet Cassandra Clare for the first time, and also talk to Sarah Rees Brennan again.  I also decided to join into the Discussion Challenge.  I’ve had a few things about books that I get tired of people criticizing or making a big deal of, and so I started with my first post this past week, Fiction is Fiction, the link is above if you want to go check it out!  My spring break goal of reading one book a day, for at least five of those days was kind of met.  Now, two weeks ago though, I met my goal of getting to the gym and walking 3 miles once a week up until my spring break.  My reward for that was to get a tattoo, and so I got the infinity symbol that is part of the After series by Anna Todd.  Here is a picture of that:

This week on the blog:

  • Reviews:  Taking Chances by Molly McAdams, Summer of Firsts by Chen Yan Chang, Flawed by Cecelia Ahern
  • Promo Tour:  Hot Pterodactyl Boyfriend by Alan Cumyn
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • End of March Challenge Wrap-Up

I have a new goal for the gym, going twice a week until my summer break starts.  My reward isn’t quite as cool as the tattoo this time, but I will let myself buy a new pair of Nike tennis shoes for walking when I’m down in Branson over Memorial Day weekend, at the Nike outlet.  And I will buy those along with my usual yearly purchase of a Coach purse at their outlet store in Branson.  I got one gift sent to my OTSP Secret Sister for March, but am planning a little bigger gift for April, using part of my March money limit for something a little bigger.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  Still keep adding to the shelves!  But I did get a couple this week in the mail that I’m not sure why I got them.  I don’t remember entering contests for them, so it’s kinda weird.

Physical books:

I won the first book, an ARC of Ruined.  The 2nd book is one that I emailed the publisher and begged for a copy of it, it sounds so cute!  The third one is a book I know I’ve seen around, but don’t know quite how I got it?  I can’t remember if I signed up for it through Shelf Awareness, or if I won it.  Ooops.  The next two are books I purchased.  Stray Hearts is two books together by Jill Shalvis and I found it at the Dollar Tree, for $1, so I grabbed it.  The Drawing In of Breath is a self-published poetry book by some students at my school.  And the last book, one that I’ve read, but don’t own, and my awesome OTSP Secret Sister sent it to me!  So excited to now own it!

I honestly have no idea why I got these kids books in the mail.  I guess I will pass them on to some elementary librarians in my school district if they want them.
Ebooks:

The first two are e-novellas, for a series that I had meant to get started on this month, but didn’t.  Maybe next month.  Both were free, although The Mirror and the Maze won’t be available till May.  The bottom two both cost, I rarely buy ebooks, but they were deals, and I had a $5 Amazon gift card to spend, so I used it for those.
So those are the things I added to my shelves this week.  What did you add to your shelves?

  1. I loved The Orphan Queen! I need to read The Wrath and the Dawn still, too. I'm probably going to go grab the eNovellas now, though. I can't wait to read Ruined, I loved Amy Tintera's other books. I didn't get an StS posted this week because I was too busy with Bunny business. Next week will be a big one, lol. Happy Easter!

    Michelle @ Michelle's Minions

    • I haven't read Amy Tintera yet, but they all sound good! I know what you mean about being busy, but you have extra bunny business with kids! 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

  2. Love the tattoo!! And I am super jealous you got to meet Cassandra Clare!! I am in love with the mortal instruments books (not the TV series! Ugh!). Hope you like the Jill Shalvis book. Her books are great when you want a simple, straight forward contemporary romance!
    Have a great week!

    • I'm enjoying the tv series, although the book is definitely better, always is. I hope that I will enjoy the Shalvis book, it will be my first of her books. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Looks like a busy spring break! I find that I have to do my reviews right after finishing a book too, or it bugs me. I'm afraid I'll forget something. although there have been a couple times when I didn't do it right away and letting it percolate helped with the review. So who knows? 🙂

Ruined looks good, I like that cover.

  4. I use to be so good about writing my reviews right away, but the practice has gone to the wayside recently. Book Bumblings has a monthly review-a-thon which helps me get caught up and is very helpful. It sounds like you had a busy week, I hope this one is just as eventful.

    • A monthly review-a-thon mmight be something I should try! It just depends when I have time to do it. I'm hoping summer will help me get caught up when school is out. Thanks for visiting!

  5. Sounds like things are busy! I love your tattoo! That's such a nice idea for motivating yourself 🙂
And what a lovely OTP secret sister! I'm so excited to get involved with that the next time around 🙂

    • Life always seems to be so busy! Thanks! I love the tattoo as well! So ready for it to be healed though. I'm loving the OTSP Secret Sister! It's so much fun!

  6. I love the tattoo and what a great reward! I'm just hitting that phase about finishing books but not getting the reviews done myself. I've got a couple of reviews that need to be written and I need to do it soon or I'll forget! Great books this week! I love Jill Shalvis but I've only read a couple in that series. The last one I read made me want to adopt a whole bunch of kittens though so be careful! Have a great week!

  7. I love the tattoo!! It's a great reward haha And that's amazing, that you got to meet Cassie!
I used to write book reviews as soon as I finished the book but lately I've been slacking in that department and sometimes I write the review a month later and have to go check all of my notes to remember everything. I try to write it as soon as I'm done, but I haven't succeeded :/ You got Ruined!! I can't wait to know how it is!

    • I don't take notes as much as I used to either, but fortunately I am doing more comments when I do status updates on Goodreads, so that helps when I go back to do a review. I'm excited for Ruined! Thanks for visiting!

    • As a former teacher, current school librarian, I definitely know how much it is appreciated when things are passed on. So I do what I can! Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I picked up Crown & Arrow this week too, but I totally forgot to add it to my Sunday post. I like your new tattoo. I think it is great that you make these goals for yourself and give yourself a reward for meeting that goal. Simple but effective, I'm sure. I got an eARC of Ruined and I am really looking forward to reading it.

    • I always save the emails when I buy/download ebooks to a special folder in my gmail just so I don't forget to share it. 🙂 Goals have to be ones that I really want, but don't need, so that if I don't reach the goal I won't get it, but I also won't cheat to get it. I'm excited for Ruined as well! Can't wait to get to it. Thanks for visiting!

    • Both of my tattoos so far are book related! I think I'd like to get a rune from the Mortal Instruments series some time, but next I really want a dachshund around my ankle. But not sure exactly how I want it to look, plus it will be expensive, so I'm waiting on that one. Thanks for stopping by!

  9. I love the idea of holding yourself accountable for your workouts. Just like kids need a reward system, I guess so do we! I just don't have the actual time to go to a gym because the closest around is in the opposite direction from my home. Typically my days end between 5 and 7, and Baby is at home needing to be fed, let out and loved on. I'm also very limited on what equipment I can use due to my back. I'm hoping to see a move in the next two years with the man, and then I want to start kickboxing classes! Have a fantastic week!

    • I prefer to walk at the park, but with winter weather, and soon summer weather, the gym membership was worth the money. It would be hard if it was too far. My day is over early, of course I start early, but it works for me. I really don't use much equipment at the gym, just the treadmill. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. WOOOOW, TATTOO! That is super cool. I have Ahdieh's novellas (Mirror & Maze preordered, of course). I can't wait to read them. And I loved The Orphan Queen and The Mirror King. I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Lisa!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a fantastic week. 🙂

  11. I LOVE your tattoo!! I do the same thing with exercise/diet and rewards, too! I already earned my tattoo, I'm just stuck on what I want. My Pinterest feed has a whole board of ideas but it's probably going to be a small tree of life on the inside of my arm or on the back of my neck.

How fun to talk to Sarah and meet Cassandra, too! Did you take pics? Oh, and great books this week!!

Keep up the great work on your goals – you rock!! 😀

    • I don't really think about getting another tattoo until I get an idea of what I want. Although I did change this time from what I had been originally thinking, mainly because I fell in love with the After series and needed something to do with that instead of what I'd thought of before. I keep some ideas on my pinterest board as well! 🙂 I didn't get to take pics, only had the ones their professional photographers took. 🙁 Thanks for visiting!

  12. I love your tattoo Lisa. It looks really nice!

How awesome that you met Cassandra Clare? How was she? I really love her books so I always imagine she is this really cool woman. I’m so jealous of you right now! 😉 LOL!

It looks like you have some great new books. Happy reading!

    • I do love my tattoo. Just kinda ready for it to be all healed and just look normal! I didn't get to talk to her too much because of how poorly the event was run. 🙁 I am just hoping to get another chance to talk to her again! But she was really nice, and her talk with Sarah Rees Brennan before was so fun! Thanks for stopping by!

    • I keep saying I'll take one night and catch up, but then I spend that night catching up on comments. Oh well. As long as I get them done. Thanks for visiting!

  13. Yay for getting your reviews written. I have two I need to write. Hopefully this week. I love your tattoo. I sometimes think about getting one, but I worry I'll get tired of it after awhile. I haven't found one that calls to me. Your new books look good! I hope you have a great week!

    • But so many more to be done! I've picked things for my tattoos that I know I will love. I'm so excited to have one where I can see it all the time now though! Thanks for stopping by!

  14. I sometimes wait way too long to write reviews. I have a review to write right for a book that I think I read in January. I keep telling myself to stop doing that but when I get in reading mode I don't want to stop to write reviews. It looks like you picked up some awesome books this week. Enjoy!

    • Thanks! I have to try to set my rewards as something that doesn't actually help or hinder my weight loss efforts. Like no food rewards, and a lot of times buying clothes doesn't work if I'm still not where I want to be. Thanks for stopping by!
