Last week on the blog:

Wow, I got four reviews done this week!  Now, to be fair, one of them, Blackheath, I think I finished a week ago, but had to wait to post the review as I was part of a blog tour.  But, as you can tell by this past week, I didn’t have a ton of extra posts scheduled, which was really nice.  I’ve kept up with my Instagram challenge, although I don’t have yesterday’s done yet, need to get that done, and then the one for today has to do with multiple copies, and I don’t know that I have much for that, because I don’t really keep more than one copy of a book.  I try to keep my house a little neater because of that.  But I’ll have to go wander around my bookshelves later today to see for sure.  I did reach my exercise goal this past week, so that was a good thing!  I’ll talk more about that down below.

This week on the blog:

  • Cover Characteristic:  Doorknobs
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Reviews:  Firstlife by Gena Showalter
  • Possible Reviews:  Harmony House by Nic Sheff, The Inn Between by Marina Cohen, You Were Here by Cori McCarthy, Monsterland by Michael Phillip Cash, Broken Trust by Michelle Sodaro
  • Possible post about meeting Cassandra Clare

This is my spring break week.  My goal is to read a book a day, at least for the 5 week days if not for all 9 of the days, which I’m probably already out of since I didn’t finish a book yesterday because I had to work all day at the bookstore.  My audiobook reviews are way down as I continue to listen to the After series because I can’t help myself.  Speaking of that series, let’s talk about my plan for this Friday due to reaching my walking goal last week.  My reward was to get my next tattoo.  Well, originally I wanted a dachshund tattoo around my ankle.  However I have now decided I’m going to get the little infinity symbol that is on the After covers on my wrist.  I’ve already made the appointment, and can’t wait to do it!  I’m a little nervous, as my other tattoo is a place that no one can see unless I show them, on my back, so there are people in my life that don’t know I have it.  On my wrist however, it will be out there and they will know about that one at least.  With my walking goal, I’ve set a new level, although I haven’t decided on the reward for this one.  But I’m going to start making sure to get to the gym or walk at least twice a week up until summer break from school.  Maybe I’ll set a reward for something during my annual family trip to Branson on Memorial Day weekend. We’ll see.

I’ve also got to get my OTSP Secret Sister gift sent out.  I had one sent through a website, but now I need to send something more personal.  Now, before you move on, I’ve got a couple other giveaways going on that you should check out:

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  Hmm, didn’t do quite as well with not buying books this week, but it is partly because my tax refund came this week.

Physical books:

I noticed that the last little coloring book I’d bought was more winter/Christmas, and then I saw this Easter one at the bookstore and thought it was a good one, especially in case I don’t get to actually color Easter eggs this year, something I love to do.  Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins was a wonderful gift from the publisher, Penguin Teen.  Tell the Wind and Fire was a booksfortrade that came just in time since I heard that the author, Sarah Rees Brennan, was supposed to be in Kansas City this week with Cassandra Clare, more about that later.  The next three books were finds from The Book OutletEmbers and Echoes and  Afterglow by Karsten Knight,  the final books in a series that I really enjoyed the first book, Wildefire, but never got ahold of these two.  The last one from this same purchase is one that I’ve been waffling on whether to read due to different reviews, but when a counselor from the last school where I taught told me that she really liked it, I had to go ahead and buy The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel with the great deal.  Next is another book I’ve been curious about, so had to use my tax refund to buy at work yesterday, Calendar Girl Vol. 1 by Audrey Carlan.  The author is a writing partner for our manager’s sister, so I thought I’d give her a try!  And the last book in that pile is one I’ve been waiting for since I first read the final book in the Mortal Instruments series and have needed to know what happens next, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare.  I had to purchase it from Rainy Day Books, not the bookstore where I work, because that was the only way to get an autograph and get to meet the author when she comes to my town on Tuesday of this week.

E-galleys:

I got the top two books from Edelweiss.  Now, I’m unsure about reading the egalley of Lady Renegades, just because I listened to the first two as audiobooks, and wonder if I should wait and listen to the 3rd one. But I probably won’t be able to wait for the library to get it, so will go ahead and read it.  The next one, Losing It, well it just sounds so good that I emailed the publishers and almost begged for an ARC, and I think they’re sending it!  It just sounds like such a fun read that I can’t wait to get to it.  The bottom two books are from Netgalley.  I was so excited to get the approval email for Blood of the Hydra, as I am a big fan of the author and am looking forward to see where the series goes after the first book.  And the final one, True Born, just sounds really good! Even though there are a ton of other books that are coming out that week that I can still get egalleys of.

Free e-books:

The first one, Destined to Fail,  I got free from a blog.  The 2nd one, Genius of Jinn, I found and got from Barnes and Noble when I was looking at the 2nd book in the series, and thought a free novella would be a good bet!  The third one, The Scionless House, I found on another blog last week for their Stacking the Shelves, and I picked it up for free from Amazon.

So those are the things I added to my shelves this past week, as well as a list of what is coming up on my blog this week.  What is new on your shelves?  Will you be stopping by my blog for anything this coming week?

    • Well, so far not great, but if I can finish a 2nd book today that I'd been reading for awhile, and then get back on the train tomorrow, then I'll be doing well! Thanks for stopping by!

    • Thanks! So far so good, love that with the spring forward and losing an hour today I get to sleep in to catch up tomorrow! I liked Ten as well, so you'll probably like this one too! Thanks for visiting!

  1. Congrats on reaching your walking goal! I like the sound of your tattoo. It sounds simple enough, so nothing too crazy, since you aren't used to people seeing your tattoos. I like different literary themed tattoos but needles freak me out WAY too much. haha My sister really wants to get one though!

Yay for a fun author signing coming up! I haven't been to one in awhile, but i should be attending one next week with a few authors, so I'm pumped.

    • I have never been a fan of needles either, but I made it through the first one, although that was on my back and I couldn't see it being done. HOping I can make it through one on my wrist without passing out! Also hoping I won't have to deal with certain people giving me a hard time about it. I'm very excited!

Last year seemed like I didn't get to meet any authors, so hopeful that this year will be better! Starting this week! Thanks for stopping by

  2. Eep! I love the coloring book. And ooOoOOOooo, I'm curious about that tattoo you mentioned! I've always theoretically wanted one, but I'm not brave enough to go through with it. o_o I hope you enjoy all over your books and have a lovely week, Lisa!

  3. I have yet to read the After series but due to your obsession with it, I may have to check it out! I'm also iterated in your revue of Firstlife. I have heard mixed things and am curious on your take !

    • YOu should go check out the After series. I can't get it out of my head! 🙂 But I can understand why some people don't like it, and I"m okay with that. I just finished Firstlife today, will probably post a review tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Good job with your reviews! I am really behind in writing reviews but I'm trying to do better. Hope you enjoy your spring break and get to read and do other things you've been wanting to do.

    • I'm trying to keep up, but some of my current reads are for tour posts scheduled later, just having to make sure I still have two a week to post! Thanks for visiting!

  5. My kids start Spring Break this Thursday. I am hoping I wont' go crazy. At least we have some nice weather forecast so hopefully we can finally get outside. We have been cooped up because of all the rain for months. Good luck with your walking and reading goals.

    • We haven't had much rain, but have been having really nice weather. We finally got some rain over the weekend, and now it's back to nice days. I'm hoping to do my walking outside instead of at the gym while it is like this. Hope you're able to get your kids outside during their spring break. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Holy lots of book this week, batman–great haul! I've been seeing True Born around a LOT lately…I'm going to have to look into it! Here's hoping you enjoy all the books–happy reading!

    • Doing so far okay, although today, Wednesday, I might be a little off! Not sure I'll finish one tonight. Have to do two tomorrow, including the one I started today.

  7. Have fun on spring break! Mine isn't until next week, and I am also hoping to read a lot. A book every day? I highly doubt that I could do that, but I am hoping to finish a book every other day. Hope that you can finish a book every day during your break! 🙂

    • Thanks! It's weird, usually all the schools in my area have spring break the same week, but this year a lot are not until next week. I have got a book a day so far, but think today I am falling behind. But maybe I can finish it and another one tomorrow.

  8. Lady Midnight is one I really want to get but I am on a book buying ban so I know that won't be happening for a while… I'm just going to have to hope you enjoy that one! And I'm glad you were able to get Lady Renegade because you love the series!

    • I had to buy it in order to get to meet Cassandra Clare, even though the whole event was a little disappointing at that part of the night. I just hope I can get to it soon! That's the issue.

  9. Four reviews in one week, that's pretty neat! I hope you get a lot of books read this week during your break. And that must be exciting and a bit scary to get a new tattoo. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • I should have 3 for sure, possibly 4 again this week. I've only been excited about the tattoo, nervous about what some people would say, but now I'm starting to think about the needle part and get a little nervous.
