Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting. I know everyone else has probably already put this as their WOW, but I finally am getting around to it closer to the time of when it will be published. I loved the way the Mortal Instruments series ended, and I’ve been so looking forward to finding out where these new characters will take the story. Here is the blurb from Goodreads if you haven’t read it yet:
Los Angeles. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to to discovering exactly what it was that killed her parents and getting her revenge.
Raised in the Los Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. A series of murders in the city catch her attention — they seem to have the same characteristics as the deaths of her parents. Could the murderer be the same person? And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings, they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries and Nephilim.
The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the involvement of those closest to them. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.
I’m just so excited to see what will happen with this new family. What about you? Are you planning to read this one? What book are you anticipating this week?
Oh! I'm really looking forward to this one as well! I'm hoping to actually be caught up on my TBR by the time it's released so I can read it when it arrives!! 🙂 Great pick!
I'll never be caught up on my TBR pile. 🙂 I'm so excited for this after the way the last book ended in the Mortal Instruments series. Thanks for stopping by!
I can't wait for this one! I feel like I have been waiting forever to read this one. I hope we both love it when we get to read it. 🙂 My WoW http://angelerin.blogspot.com/2016/01/waiting-on-wednesday-burning-world-warm.html
I know, it feels like the last Mortal Instruments book ended so long ago, and now I need to read this one! I hope we both get it right away. Thanks for visiting!
Definitely ready for TDA series to start. Awesome pick!

Especially now with the new Shadowhunters series on tv! Thanks for stopping by!
Great pick! I am waiting on this one also!
I'm not sure if you already entered, but there's a giveaway on my blog for a Hardcover of this book…
I don't think I've entered that giveaway, but I'll be sure to go check it out now. 🙂 Thanks for the heads up, and visiting my blog!

I loved that series as well! And I'm very excited to see where the story will go next. Thanks for visiting!
I'm not particularly a fan of this series or author, but she does have gorgeous covers! Hope you enjoy it 🙂
It seems people either really like, or don't really like that much this series. Not many in between. Thanks for stopping by!
Man the Shadowhunter world just keeps getting bigger! I didn't even know this was a thing; it sounds fascinating though!
Have you read the last book in the Mortal Instruments series? It alludes to this, I think even with maybe a teaser from it. So I've been excited ever since I read it. Thanks for visiting
Nice! Been seeing a LOT of this one! Sadly, I could never really get into this series. Hope you enjoy this one though!
Thanks for visiting my WoW!
It seems to be that way. You either really like it, or can't get into it. I can't wait for this one though. Thanks for returning the visit!
Great choice! This looks so good.
Thanks! I can't wait for it! Glad you could stop by!
Great pick! I´m also looking forward to read it.
Here is My WOW
I think this is a pretty popular ones. Thanks for visiting!
I haven't read a Clare book in a very long time! I hope you enjoy it when you read it, Lisa. 🙂

I've been very excited since the last one in the Mortal Instruments series. Thanks for stopping by!
As creepy as that cover may be, it is gorgeous too. This sounds really nice. I need to start reading Clare's books! Amazing pick.
Thank you for sharing and for stopping by my post earlier. Happy reading!

The cover is beautiful, but I'm just so excited for the story inside! YOu should definitely give them a try. Thanks for returning the stop!
Such a glorious cover! It's one of those series that's all been on my radar but I haaven't had a chance to pick it up yet. I've been thinking about trying the tv series too.
It's a great series. Of course the tv show is nowhere near as good as the books, but that's how it always is. Jace is so much funnier and better in the books. But I'm still enjoying the show. Thanks for stopping by!
Sounds good! I haven't read the first series yet. Got it on my TBR and adding this one. Thanks for coming by! I like the picture of the dogs at the top of your WoW.
I definitely recommend it. I know there are some issues with some of the middle books in the series, but to me it all worked out in the end. The dogs are my dogs, had to have them in something on my blog! Thanks for visiting!
Not sure this series is for me, but I really do love this cover. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. 🙂

We do judge books by their covers, or at least that is definitely what catches our eye first! Thanks for stopping by!
That's an awesome book cover! And it looks pretty interesting too. I've only read one book by this author before, and it wasn't my favorite so I haven't read anymore..

Understood. With all the books out there to read, it's like you have to pick and choose if something is good enough to go on. Thanks for visiting!
Not a fan of this author, but that is a gorgeous cover! I hope you really enjoy it! Thanks for commenting on my blog!
Thanks! Can't wait to get to it, and glad you could return the comment!
I haven't read this author yet but I hope this book is awesome for you! Thanks for sharing (:
I'm hoping it's good as well! Thanks for stopping by!
I am so seriously excited for this one too! Seeing the ARCs floating around on Twitter this week has made me even more thrilled about it!
I just started seeing ARCs and I am getting so jealous! Thanks for visiting!
