Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting. This week I’ve got a standalone novel by an author I’ve enjoyed a couple of books by, Gina Damico. I got to meet her at my first BEA in 2012, and that’s when I first read Croak. She has a great way with creepy horror type of books, but with a bit of snarkiness and great characters. Here is the blurb for her new book from Goodreads:
Paraffin, Vermont, is known the world over as home to the Grosholtz Candle Factory. But behind the sunny retail space bursting with overwhelming scents and homemade fudge, seventeen-year-old Poppy Palladino discovers something dark and unsettling: a back room filled with dozens of startlingly life-like wax sculptures, crafted by one very strange old lady. Poppy hightails it home, only to be shocked when one of the figures—a teenage boy who doesn’t seem to know what he is—jumps naked and screaming out of the trunk of her car. She tries to return him to the candle factory, but before she can, a fire destroys the mysterious workshop—and the old woman is nowhere to be seen.
With the help of the wax boy, who answers to the name Dud, Poppy resolves to find out who was behind the fire. But in the course of her investigation, she discovers that things in Paraffin aren’t always as they seem, that the Grosholtz Candle Factory isn’t as pure as its reputation—and that some of the townspeople she’s known her entire life may not be as human as they once were. In fact, they’re starting to look a little . . . waxy. Can Poppy and Dud extinguish the evil that’s taking hold of their town before it’s too late?
Doesn’t it sound so creepy? And that cover! Awesome! So, what book are you eagerly awaiting this week?

I still have to read the final book in the Croak series. Haven't read her last book, Hellhole. Hope to get it soon as well! Thanks for visiting!
Um… this sounds amazing!! I am completely terrified of wax figures, so I will definitely be picking this one up! Thanks for sharing 😀

Sounds like a creepy read! Thanks for stopping by!
Whoa, this sounds so interesting! It's kind of expensive right now, but I've put it on my maybe TBR because I will totally read this if the price drops or I can borrow it somewhere!
Well, it's not going to be published till later in 2016, so you'll have to wait for that for sure! 🙂
Wow, definitely sounds creepy! I hope you love it!

I can't wait to read it! Thanks for stopping by!
I read her last book, Hellhole, and it was so funny! Not sure if I'll read this or not, even though I enjoyed Hellhole, it wasn't quite my type of humor. But I am LOLing at that cover!
Haven't read Hellhole. But want to! Thanks for visiting!
Oh God. This reminds me of House of Wax (the newer version). While I loved the cast of that movie, it was so creepy and gross. *shudders* I guess this book is lighter, considering wax figures come to life, instead of die horribly painful deaths, right? Anywho, I hope you enjoy it once you get your hands on it. 😉
I don't think I've ever watched that movie. But now I'm going to have to go find it to watch. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
SO creepy! I am curious because of the whole thing affecting the town, but seriously creepy *shudders* TY for coming by to my WOW earlier!
I love creepy stories! So looking forward to reading it. Thanks for returning the visit!
