showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is
coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.
Last week on the blog:
- Promo Post and Giveaway: The Casquette Girls by Alys Arden and Shadow in the Sea by Sheila A. Nielson
- Cover Characteristic: Beds
- Review: Hellraisers by Alexander Gordon Smith
- Waiting on Wednesday: Under Their Skin by Margaret Peterson Haddix
- Audiobook Review: Armada by Ernest Cline
- Debut Author Bash and Giveaway: Holly Bodger – Author of 5 to 1
The week back from Thanksgiving break has been pretty busy! I didn’t even get a chance to go comment on other people’s Stacking the Shelves and Sunday Posts last week. Aah!! But with no The Walking Dead on tonight, and no dinner at my mom’s I should be able to get it done tonight instead of having to wait until tomorrow. I also found a book trading group on Facebook and traded 4 books right away! Books that I’ve had on Twitter for awhile and gotten no bite on. So I should have lots to share next week. Also, I got to meet a new author this week, Holly Messinger. She wrote the book I reviewed just recently, The Curse of Jacob Tracy. On Friday she came to the high school where I am a librarian and talked to the students. I of course had to have my picture taken with her.
This week on the blog:
- Promo (Possible Review) Nexis by AL Davroe
- Debut Author Bash and Giveaway: Lance Rubin – Author of Denton Little’s Death Date
- Waiting on Wednesday
- Cover Characteristic: Sharks
- Possible starting a new challenge for 2016: Starting a new series
- Reviews: Need by Joelle Charbonneau, Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- Possible Reviews: Audiobook – Yes, My Accent is Real by Kunal Nayyar.
I’m reading Nexis right now, and loving it, and hoping to be done and able to add a review to my promo post tomorrow. Not sure if I’ll make it or not. I’m also very excited to get to host Lance Rubin on Tuesday for the Debut Author Bash, I loved his debut novel, Denton Little’s Death Date, it was my staff rec at the bookstore where I worked for the last 2 months. I mentioned before that I think I’m going to try to host my own year long challenge this year about starting those series that I keep seeing everyone else loving, and yet I haven’t gotten to them yet. My month long challenge I do in September hasn’t done super-great, but I still keep plugging away each year with it. So I’m going to try this year long one as well.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected. I had a smaller book haul this week. And part of the books I got I can’t show because they are for my TBBT Secret Santa recipient! I also was very good this week about not requesting any free ebooks.

I also got two calendars and some Star Trek post-it notes, it is our employee appreciation days at the bookstore, so that means I always buy more stuff! It’s good at this time of the year because I can get lots of Christmas gifts, like for the Secret Santa stuff!
Now I found out that I won a giveaway from Jessica at A Great Read as well this past week. Part of the prize arrived this week. I poster from the book Winter by Marissa Meyer, that is signed. You can kind of see it in lower left had corner of the picture below.
Jessica also threw in a copy of a YA coloring book.
Now, I could swear I got some e-galleys this week, but I didn’t write it down anywhere, so can’t share it.
So, that’s my last week and what I added to my shelves. What did you add to your shelves? How was your last week? Again I ask, would you be interested in joining my new series challenge? I’m thinking of calling it “It’s New to Me”.
What fun to meet an author you just read….enjoy your new week, and thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I do love to meet authors and hear them talk about their writing process, so it was great! Thanks for stopping by!

Isn't it awesome! I just have to figure out where to put it now. And hey, it's a crazy time of year, so I understand getting behind on mailing things. I'll just be excited whenever it gets here! I'm so glad to have won in the first place I guess!
Awesome haul of books. I see that you got some great prizes. That prize is awesome. Coloring books are so much fun.

I love winning! So many things that I wouldn't buy, but now I can own them! And then the extras like the poster and coloring book. Awesome! Thanks for stopping by!
Cool poster, and I'm looking forward to your review of Need. I have it to read but just haven't gotten to it yet, but I think it sounds good.
I posted my review of Need last night, go check it out! It was a very good story! Thanks for stopping by!
So fun meeting new authors and a picture is a must. I love the poster, and the coloring book. I bought my nieces adult coloring books and hope they love them.
It's been a slow year for meeting authors since I didn't get to go to BEA. 🙁 I love coloring books! I've been coloring more the past week. Thanks for visiting!
Hi – congrats on your win from Jessica at A Great Read. Nice haul this week. 🙂

Thanks! I love winning things! Some great books this week. Thanks for stopping by!
Congrats on winning Winter swag!
Also are you a librarian AND bookseller Lisa???
I have been a bookseller since 2000, and only a librarian for 3 years now. But I love being a librarian, and had been trying since like 2008 I think, to get a library job. I do love books!
Oooo, I like poster and coloring book! I hope you enjoy all of your new books and swag, Lisa!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
It was a great win this week! Then yesterday I got the book Winter to go with the poster! Thanks for stopping by!
I would certainly consider joining your challenge but would need to see the rules etc before I say yes.
Well be sure to check back, I'm thinking maybe Thursday I'll post a sign up/proposal type blog. Guess I should figure that out before!
A YA coloring book! How cool! And Holly's dress is fantastic. That's so cool she could come to your school.
Thanks for stopping by our StS this week!
I guess the author used to do a lot of costuming, and the dress she wore is kind of like a character in the book she was talking about would wear. Thanks for returning the stop!
It seems to me you had a pretty good week, Congrats on your win!! Very nice poster! I am watching for your Challenge!! Thanks so much for coming by!!
It was a good week! So far this week is turning out good as well. I'll probably post about the challenge either Thursday or Friday. Hope you'll check back!
Sounds like a great week. Great fun to meet new authors.
I wish I could meet all of my favorite authors. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Wait, is that a book related colouring book? I NEED IT! Ha.
Yes! And I can't wait to color! Although I don't know if I should just stick to the actual colors of the books, or if I should color them my own choice of colors. 🙂
