The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s
a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is
coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.
Last 3 weeks highlights: Since I didn’t do one of these for the last 3 weeks, I’m going to just do some highlight links here:
- Giveaways: Children of Lightning by Annie K. Wong, Emerge by Melissa A. Craven
- Author Interviews: Convergence by Trudi L. Hayes, Diamonds are Forever by Michelle Madow
- Reviews: Persuasion by Martina Boone, Miss Mayhem (audiobook) by Rachel Hawkins, Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins, Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young, This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp, Unforgiven by Lauren Kate, The Conspiracy of Us (audiobook) by Maggie Hall, Bleeding Earth by Kaitlin Ward, End of Days by Susan Ee
- Cover Characteristic: Dragons, Butterflies, Books
- Waiting on Wednesday: The Calling by Rachelle Dekker, Relic by Gretchen McNeil
So I got more than 2 reviews a week, of course audiobooks are going on only when I’m in my car right now, so they count a little differently. As I mentioned on the only other Sunday Post I’ve done this month, I started off doing a new NaNoWriMo. However, about a week or so ago, when my writing partner kind of cancelled on me again, I realized I just wasn’t feeling the story this year as much as I had last year. I actually think maybe I want to just go back and work on the story from last year, get it all polished up. And then finish a story I started in NaNo several years ago. After that, I’m not sure how much more writing I really want to do. I’m kind of feeling like the name of one of my favorite blogs: I Am a Reader, Not a Writer. Writing really takes away from my reading time, and as I don’t feel like I’m that good at it, why keep at it? I know, I know, they say the more you write the better you will get, but I don’t know that I care enough about writing to dedicate that kind of time to it, and take it away from reading, which I do care about, a lot. Since the beginning of the month, my Kansas City Royals won the World Series! It was so exciting and awesome! Here is a picture of the rally they had in our city for them. They said like 600,000 or more people showed up, and you can see it in this picture.
All the blue at the bottom of the picture and the roads around are people! We love our Royals! Writing was also taking me away from blogging, and I’m glad to get back to do more of that, and start commenting on other blogs again.
This week on the blog:
- Promo and Author Interview: Molly Lee by Andrew Joyce
- Cover Characteristic: Fish
- Waiting on Wednesday
- Book Blitz: Awaken by Christy Sloat
- Possible Reviews: The Curse of Jacob Tracy by Holly Messinger, Armada by Ernest Cline
Not sure what else I might get done reading this week. And don’t know if I’ll actually get Armada done being listened to. Maybe I’ll TRY to make sure I actually go use my Planet Fitness membership to walk and get some listening done that way. Not sure if I’m going to finish Jackaby. While I like the story itself, it is really wordy, I find myself taking forever to get through just a page at a time, and it is not really very easy to read. And at the moment, I may not be in the mood for a book like that. I’m considering just taking the copy I won and donating it to my school library, where I’ll be able to check it out when I am in the mood and have time to read it. Of course the sequel to that one is an ARC, so I would have to maybe try to do a book for trade on Twitter or Goodreads for that. I’m probably only give Jackaby one more chance. If it doesn’t get better, then I’m moving on to something else. It’s also Thanksgiving this week, so I will spend lots of time with family, including my sister who lives in NYC who will be flying home for the holiday. I unfortunately got scheduled to work on Black Friday, an 8 hour shift at the bookstore where I work part time. But, my one bright spot about that is that I don’t have to close.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected. Now this is a lot in this list, but it is a 3 week haul remember.

I have never felt like I should write fiction, at least not since I was an awkward preteen. I just don't see stories in my head. However I like to look at other people's stories and write about them. It's not that I don't write; I think of myself as an essayist writing about books or issues and it is different than writing fiction.
I have ideas, but can't usually seem to figure out how to get them into a complete story.
Enjoy your haul! I am curious about Divah. It is hard to read and review when we have other distractions…I have that problem, too.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I want just to read!!! 🙂 When I'm doing that, I seem to review just fine right after I'm done. But all those distractions! Thanks for stopping by!
I just picked up Until We Meet Again from the library yesterday. I'm looking forward to that one. Sorry to hear your writing partner bailed on you. 🙁 I didn't do NaNo this year. I think I have the desire to write… but not the commitment. And one without the other just isn't going to cut it. Honestly, I'd rather be reading. Sorry that you have to work on Friday. Boo! But at least you're not closing – there's the silver lining. 🙂
Tanya @ Girl Plus Books
I'm like you, more desire to read than write. Hope you enjoy Until We Meet Again as much as I did. Thanks for visiting!
Oh wow, look at the crowd in that photograph!!!
I know what you mean about NaNo and wondering about being a 'writer'. I feel the exact same way. I love writing but just not novels are for me.
I just don't know that I want to write when there are so many books I want to read. I think I'll let other people write and I'll enjoy reading what they write. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Wow you got a ton of new books. I might need to check out a few of them. Thanks for sharing and hope you enjoy them.
Thanks! Can't wait to get to some of them. But who knows when that will be!
Lots of new goodies this week. I have a few of these myself, and there are some I've never seen before. Happy reading!
I always like seeing what freebies other people got and then maybe go download them myself! Thanks for stopping by!
Lots of books! Awesome! As far a writing, I'm too far now on nanowrimo to continue. I'll just put it on the back burner for now. 🙂

Well, you can always just keep writing! I did that with the story that I want to go back to now and finish. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Wow, that's an awesome haul! I've heard good things about Soundless so I hope you enjoy 😉 Thanks for visiting; I hope you have a great week!
Zareena @ The Slanted Bookshelf
I can't wait to get to it! Thanks for returning the visit!
I loved This Is Where It Ends!
Me too. Such a good story.
Awesome haul! The Hanging Tree looks interesting.
Yeah, I'm excited to read it! Plus it is a shorter book, so should be a quick read.
Great book list! Enjoy and have a great week!
Thanks! Glad you could stop by!
Body Electric sounds good, hope you enjoy!
Body Electric is one I've already read, and really enjoyed. Just so glad to own a copy of it now!
You got some amazing books this week. There are quite a few titles I will need to check out online once I am done with my comment. My poor wishlist is going to tumble over hehe have a good week
I know, between the Sunday Posts and Stacking the Shelves, my TBR is HUGE! 🙂
Oh my you got lots of books. I hope you enjoy them. Have a great week and Happy Reading!!
Thanks! I can't wait to get to them. Thanks for stopping by!
Oooo, you have And I Darken, I didn't realize it was on Edelweiss! Great haul, Lisa!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yep! Love when I find things on Edelweiss! Glad you could visit!
Soundless is on my TBR. I read The Body Electric and personally loved it and its steampunk kind of sci-fi. I do need to read the rest of Beth Revis's books now! Oh, and addressing the whole writing thing – it doesn't matter if you are good at it or not. But it depends more on if you are enjoying it or not. That's up to you though ^.^
You felt it was steampunk? I felt like it was just old-fashioned sci-fi, and that's why I loved it as well. I'm just glad to have my own copy of it now! You should read her books, they were all good! I'm not enjoying the writing as much with this story, so I may have made the right decision. The sad thing, I'm thinking of buying this year's winner shirt because I like it better than last year's.
I would love to do NaNoWriMo but I am same I think reader rather than writer but never say never.
The Beth Revis books are all amazing, read the series last year and enjoyed it so much!
I'm a little sad I didn't do it, I really wanted this year's winner tshirt, but that is no reason to write something I'm not wanting to write. I have read all of the Beth Revis books and loved them, and now so glad to own all of them! Thanks for stopping by!
